But Seth Rogen anagrams to “The S Negro,” and I didn’t want to go in that direction (the S in the middle doesn’t make sense).

“Rogan” is a MUCH more accommodating spelling.

I saw Drillbit and I loved it. I really don’t get what all this hate mail is about. The movie was silly and fun and it made me laugh way more than Knocked Up, which personally I found very offensive on many levels, ie. misogynistic, irresponsible. My guess is that Apatow has done too much too fast and no one wants anyone to be that successful? Whatever the reason, this movie doesn’t deserve the bad press at all. Owen Wilson was quite lovable as Drillbit. His arc was much more interesting in that he came to care more about the kids than himself. It had a great message and made us laugh along the way.

The reviews I read of Drillbit Taylor were some of the harshest I’ve seen in a long time. Now it makes sense.

It was cute. Definitely aimed toward to 11-14 year old crowd.

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all-time favorite novels. I was so confused when I saw in the opening credits “Edmond Dantes” and even made a comment about it. Funny, now that I know why.

Yeah, my cousin, my botther and I saw this recently at the cinema. It got a fair consistent laugh, and we all thaught it had it’s moments. knowing that GH wrote the story was a big factor in me seeing it, [and also that nothing else was on that we hadn’t already seen or weren’t interested in]

It’s worth seeing but nothing special.

Old, old news. Also? Drillbit Taylor isn’t actually good? Also? Yes, the idea was based on a John Hughes film? Also? You won’t see Hughes names in the credits anywhere. That’s how little he had to do with any of it.

Now it seem every comedy is produced by Judd Apatow. I loved Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared and his movies are usually pretty good, but I think Drillbit is Apatow overkill. It doesn’t look funny and it’s PG - 13. Apatow needs to stick to R-rated comedies, they’re so much better. As for Hughes, he needs to make a come back but it won’t happen. He won’t even use his real name in the credits.

i think Hughes was great for capturing on film that mischievous grin and light teen angst we all had as kids and teens in the 80’s that has now turned into the glazed over “not now Mom, I’m on my cell phone” jaded look that kids have taken on in the late 90’s and early 00’s.

Hughes doesn’t have anything to work with because his characters wouldn’t be believable today.

I’m a huge Rogen/Apatow fan. Apatow flicks are on par with Kevin Smith as far as laughs per joke for me. As long as I’m laughing, it’s good stuff. I don’t care if they produce/write/direct/star in every movie at the cinema. As long as it’s funny, I’m good to go.

But, yeah…Drillbit Taylor doesn’t really look too good by the trailer.

And, to answer the question, no, I don’t think Hughes will return. But, it would be cool if he did.

i love rogen and apatow. drillbit taylor was on par with semi-pro and by that i mean 4.0/10.0. both were huge dissapoints and barely funny at all.

nothing has hit the lowness of the tracey fragments yet though.

I saw it opening day. I didn’t really have overly high expectations going in, though I knew that it was an Apatow movie. But you know, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. It really felt like an 80’s comedy with endearing and kinda believable characters and a simple but outlandish premise. It was great. The kids were hilarious and Owen Wilson was Owen Wilson which is why I love Owen Wilson. Anyway, it was a great date night and we went away happy and smiling and for some reason, wanting to punch someone in the face.
