I didn't conclude that you were a leftie for posting it. I must say as a filmmaker I often wonder if there's even a place for my voice any more. My wife recently attended a film showing in Washington DC by a filmmaker who had been invited to Sundance for the last 3-5 films he had made which had a more neutral outlook - his most recent film is a documentary on military/army doctors in Iraq from a positive point of view, and for the first time in years he wasn't invited to Sundance. My angst mostly comes from what I see coming out of Hollywood at large... I am weary of hearing my own countrymen taking the worst possible view of our country and actually betraying the essential nature of our country by painting things far worse than they are. Once the majority is stupidly convinced that we sit under tyranny when we are so far from it, what little chance we have of preserving democracy will be severely thinned.
