General Oddity is selling Palpatine-Cheney merchandise on CafePress.
“Re-elect Palpatine and his right-hand man Dick Cheney to the head of the Galactic Empire!”
I’ve been very disappointed with CafePress’ t-shirts in the past, but the bumper sticker is pretty cool, and maybe worth a few bucks.

Meanwhile, Goats.com is selling Republicans for Voldermort merchanise, including t-shirts, bumper stickers, Hoodies, Messenger Bags and Tote Bags. Because “Fictional elections deserve fictional candidates.”

Oh, fuck both of them.
How about voting Obama for President of the Eloi? Now THAT would be appropriate.

That “Republicans for Voldermort” is pretty old. My friend has had that one since 2005 or so?
But it’s funny, it gets a lot of looks.
March 22nd, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Yeah, Obama for the Eloi. High-larious.
I’m really tired of all this liberal vitriolic garbage. Furthermore, I hate seeing political BS on this site. It’s one of the few places I don’t have to worry about the election.

Jimbo, Screenrant, this post is getting a lot of links and reads (more than any other post in the last couple days…) so it looks like people are interested. I’ll have to go with the silent majority rather than the vocal minority on this one.
March 22nd, 2008 at 4:59 pm
LOL, well of course it is. The majority of people online are young. I’ll just leave it at that. :-)

you know, peter - you can get a lot more hits if you put p0rn on here too -
but it’s a feature film site, so… maybe not such a good idea.
ah, fack it - just go ahead and link to huffington post where we can get our daily hate quota.
thanks,

Jerry Seinfeld: I love republican reasoning. What you just said makes about as much sense as when I hear Limbaugh reason that if we allow Gay marriage that “We’d have to allow marriage between people and dogs then as well”… yeah right… makes perfect sense.
We’re a movie site. If it has to do with movies, we’ll cover it. And to be honest with you, if the t-shirt had said “Democrats for Voldurmort” I still would have posted it in cool stuff, despite my liberal views… because, well, the t-shirt if just cool. Politics doesn’t have anything to do with movies, but like most things in life, there is a small overlap. Political documentaries, jokes on cool stuff t-shirts. We’re not going to avoid these things, sorry.
If I ever come across a Star Wars porn, then yes, it will be posted in cool stuff (sans nudity (because we don’t post nudity). I remember hearing of a Back to the Future porno as a kid, thats a nothing one I would feature in cool stuff.

Pete, I’m sure you know this, but just to be crystal: My comments had nothing to do with your posting this up, it had to do with the items themselves.
Best,
Vic

Vic, I know that :P But Seinfeld on the other hand is telling me by posting this I will be posting porno next…

These messages are anti-American, disgusting, and childish. This is a great way to possibly turn off everyone who isn’t extreme left like you may be.
Since all is fair in love and war, I remind you of which party Osama Bin Laden encourage the American people to vote for in one of his recent grainy-brain diatribes: let’s just say it doesn’t start with an R.
You remind me of why I am trying to get involved in film - I am so tired of it being so dominated by the extreme left. So, thanks for the reminder…
March 23rd, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Isreal, I’m not sure if you read the comment where I said that if the t-shirt had said Democrats or Liberals for Voldermort, that I still would have posted it because it’s a fun/cool thing. I don’t know how that makes e an extreme leftist. The reason why there are no right-ist based t-shirts on this posting is because I couldn’t find any. Maybe the left are just more creative than the right? Who knows. Either way I strongly encourage you to never read /Film again if you are offended by such postings, because it’s not changing any time soon. I will continue to post things that interest me.
March 23rd, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Well, I allowed in my comment that you “may” be left. I didn’t conclude that you were a leftie for posting it. I must say as a filmmaker I often wonder if there’s even a place for my voice any more. My wife recently attended a film showing in Washington DC by a filmmaker who had been invited to Sundance for the last 3-5 films he had made which had a more neutral outlook - his most recent film is a documentary on military/army doctors in Iraq from a positive point of view, and for the first time in years he wasn’t invited to Sundance.
My angst mostly comes from what I see coming out of Hollywood at large… I am weary of hearing my own countrymen taking the worst possible view of our country and actually betraying the essential nature of our country by painting things far worse than they are. Once the majority is stupidly convinced that we sit under tyranny when we are so far from it, what little chance we have of preserving democracy will be severely thinned. As a very famous Hollywood producer who is a closet conservative said, he became a conservative after 9/11 and he heard all his friends saying anti-American things - it was like they constantly told him they loved their wife, but after 9/11, their “wife” was down, and they were still beating her.

Israel, I’m a conservative movie lover. Come check out my movie news site. :-)
But you need to know that Peter is a friend of mine and is a really great guy.

pete - i was merely pointing you justify the post because of the traffic it’s received. it has nothing to do with movies, unlike you’re ‘cool stuff’ star wars items, juno items…etc.
yes, movies sometimes have political points, to make, but you know as well as i do, that this has absolutely nothing to do with movies, and has everything to do with you winking at your liberal friends.
if you ever put up a ‘cool stuff’ mocking your liberal ideals, i’d spit up my half caff, 2%, no-foam latte all over my imac keyboard.

Jerry Seinfeld: Yeah, Star Wars and Harry Potter have nothing to do with movies… oh wait…
March 24th, 2008 at 5:18 am
Are people seriously getting offended? We’re talking about fictional characters here!
Cool post, Peter. Thanks for sharing. I sure got a laugh out of it (and would have even if they did say “Democrats for…”)

Interesting how this has sparked such an out cry here. I didn’t think it was funny, cause it’s an old joke…going back 3 to 8 years ago. At the time, it was funny. If the joke wasn’t old, I would wear the t-shirt…even as a republican voter. It’s tongue in cheek. People get too uptight.
Sorry your friend did not get invited to Sundance, Isreal. But, I don’t think it really has anything to do with what was posted here. It’s not a Tron Hoodie, or a Might Mug collection. It’s just a joke. Are you offended by the T-shirt that talks about Cheney shooting his friend in the face. I wouldn’t wear it, but I also wouldn’t get up in arms about it. It’s just a joke.
