chapter-272.jpg

Besides those who imagine La Lohan giving a great performance as a groupie, there is not much general interest in Chapter 27, the indie film opening March 28th about John Lennon’s murderer, Mark David Chapman, starring an obese Jared Leto. Peter hated it (4/10), and the movie has a 5.7 rating on IMDB from its run on the festival circuit; but there remains a vocal minority of sane people online that really digs this film, and the performance from Leto (Fight Club, Requiem for a Dream) most of all.

MTV got dibbs on the one sheet and it’s actually quite effective I think, making Chapman feel elusive, unsettling and spooky. Oh, who I am kidding, it’s Jared Leto with a double chin wearing pedophile glasses. You know you wanna click. Full poster after the jump.

  2. Gravatar

Weird cropping. Also, I kind of prefer the last poster.

I always wondered how they’d pull off the look. That’s quite a transformation. I’m actually intrigued to see how his performance is.

    @ OC

Peter’s review is brief and it’s linked above.

    @ Orange Clockwork

It’s not everyday I get to lure readers after the jump with a double chin.

    I love that poster….

I also collect copies of catcher in the rye.

Jared Leto is a weak emo clown. His only notable performance was his turn as Nick Cage’s bro in Lord Of War.

    @ jonny

    You would. ;)

Catcher in the Rye [less than] A Confederacy of Dunces. You agree?

  10. Gravatar

I heard Jared Leto got fat, he must have taken up this role to justify it. funny.

Don’t make me have to get up out of this chair and assassinate you!

His only notable performance was in lord of war?! You obviously have never seen Requiem for a dream! Geez…

I’d wait to see it on DVD still. Leto’s performance looks good but the fact that it has Judah Friedlander (who was only good in American Splendor) and Lohan just makes me turn away from it. The film in it’s entire doesn’t look all that appealing and good anyways. And I like dark shit, haha.

There is no sympathy for He Who Shall Not Be Named.

I wondering just the other day if this
film would ever see light of day. It’s
nice to know it will; I’m interested in
    seeing it.

Jared Leto gain weight specifically for this
role, which later had an adverse affect on
this body when he got Gout. That’s
sacrificing a little much for the craft, but
    I respect it.

Those who refuse to acknowledge history are destined to repeat its failings at an even higher expense. We ALL remember John Lennon, who’d probably laugh his butt off at the stupidity the Boycott Chapter 27 site is pumping out! You don’t want to see it, don’t, but DON’T TELL OTHER PEOPLE HOW TO LIVE!!
And stick that website where the sun doesn’t shine.
