The Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit Rollercoaster

The Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit

Universal Studios Orlando has announced that they will be building The Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit Rollercoaster, a new high-tech roller-coaster ride which will hold the title of the tallest coaster in Central Florida and one of the fastest in the state. Rockit will rise 167 feet into the air, then corkscrew downwards, twisting eight times, making a quick trip outside of the theme park and over the heads of people walking through the nearby Universal CityWalk shopping center.

This will be the first coaster at the park which doesn’t have an actual movie theme. Aside from the ride’s “Hollywood” title, the ride is not connected with any film properties, which is probably a bad idea.  According to the Orlando Sentinel, Rockit will feature “high-energy video displays in the waiting line; high-intensity, color-changing LED lighting and digital audio and video effects during the ride.” Riders will have the ability to customize and personalize the ride, being able to select their own music and create a music video of the ride which can be uploaded to the internet.  The coaster will open in Spring 2009.

Doesn't seem like much time to build and actually ready an entirely new coaster. Does anyone know / have any idea where they're placing this new attraction either?

I live 10 minutes from the parks and I have no idea where their going to put this. But I must say the new Simpsons ride that is almost completed is going to be epic.

Wow, there is a lot of expansion in Orlando right now. I have been working for Sea World's new water park, Aquatica and there are a lot of fun rides there. 36 water slides, with one that takes you through a pool with Commerson's Dolphins swimming. Has anyone been to Aquatica yet?

Carrie, I haven't been to Aquatica yet (seeing as I live up in NC), but I have been dying to go there since I first heard of Sea World buying the land across the road from their park. The website of the water park looks like one heck of an amazing time!

Chad, are you planning a trip to Orlando anytime in the near future? Aquatica is definately a spot to visit if you are. I have never been to another water park that has the fun marine life feel like Aquatica does. Here are some fun pictures and information on the park - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g3...

Aquiatica is a very small water park so if you plan to go there be early, they tend to close this park Am due to capacity.
