Just make a movie called Rainbow Six and introduce Jack Ryan and Ding Chavez open the movie with a badass entry to kill a druglord in his home, plot then turns to another mission but Chavez is the only one left after his team is brutally killed, Jack Ryan has to "think" of a way to bring down a more serious nuclear threat, also have Ryan's family life etc

sequel names like R6 : New Order more explosive than the first but make it a to be continued like matrix was movie involves a wackjob who wants to blow up the world then

R6: New Order ends where the bad guy is getting the nuke ready after failed attempts to catch him and a third closing the franchise

R6: Redemption , you can have it pickup where the 2nd left off and you could afford to "kill" Chavez ath the end of the third, but what about John Clark as WIlliam DaFoe through all 3? ...

Id like to see the same Chavez as used in clear and present danger, otherwise let casting pick a newcomer and have Hugh Jackman as Ryan or hell Tom Hanks could do it!

I agree with the people calling for more of a Clark lead than a Jack Ryan, but I think a blend would work well. Use Clark and his squads (or just him) as the action part with a good, old fashioned spy thriller running parallel with Jack Ryan. The books where done that way. They could pull the balance to more action if they want, and still keep the books audience happy, without reinventing all the characters.

What's the point indeed. Raimi needs to let the freak flag fly a little longer before he returns to ginormous franchise trilogies. Any movie genre but action, Raimi. Of all the options out there...

I wonder if Mace Neufeld is going to produce, considering he produced all the the previous Jack Ryan films.

I can't see this going well. Jack Ryan is not an action hero, he's the guy in the cubicle fitting the pieces together.

I wish they would adapt Executive Orders to the big screen. One of my fav books of all time, let alone the Jack Ryan series. No need to make something up when there's still fantastic material that could be used.

you can say im getting off topic. but Raimi blows. and any news about him directing anything that was at one time a good move just sucks, because he will fuck it up.

I love the books, but ya, Ryan isnt really Bourne, unless Bourne sat behind a desk 18 hours a day thinking. But i will check out the movies anyway

End of story: They own all the rights to these books and movie made from then sell.

The real question is why would Sam be so eager to raise somebody elses baby?

He's got a fortune in the bank. he's got 'street cred' with the Studio for making three of the highest grossing flicks ever... Now he wants to go overtake something that Harrison Ford perfected 20 years ago?

He needs to pull his head out of these producers asses.

The Sum Of All Fears had a 68 mil budget and made more than 150 mil worldwide... Can someone explain to me why it's taking so long for a new Clancy movie to be made? There were 8 years between Clear And Present Danger & The Sum Of All Fears! 6 years have passed since The Sum... It's not like the movies don't make money, and it's not like they don't have a slew of other books to adapt (Red Rabbit, Debt Of Honor, Executive Orders, The Bear And The Dragon, etc...)

odd move...hardly a franchise the world is clamoring for, not exactly indiana jones or spider-man 4!

i'm completely confused by this sentence btw: 'a lot less hands off in the book series, which is played off due to his age'

If they're looking for action ala Bourne/Bond they should look more towards the Rainbow 6 series (now more of a computer game) with John Clark, Ding Chavez

As a fan of Tom Clancy fiction and Sam Raimi I'm very excited to hear about this. Though i think a better movie series would be based on John Clark (Without Remorse, Rainbow Six) as opposed to Jack Ryan.
