I don't know much about film styles and such, I just thought it sucked and wasn't believable. Hollywood has become way too political. Can we get more entertainment and less hating everything about the United States?

@jerry, despite its silly MTV marketing campaign, Stop-Loss is (co)written and directed by Kimberly Peirce whose last movie won her "best directorial debut" awards from the National Board of Review, the Boston Society of Film Critics, and the London Film Festival, as well as a number of nominations and wins for the two lead actresses, Hilary Swank and Chloë Sevigny (including Oscars and Golden Globes), and was called the best American film of the year by the NY Times...... so, yeah, I'm not going to let advertisements made by people who had nothing to do with the production of the film and whose sole interest is generating profit from a property color my perception of the film, you douche.

"His decision to refuse the stop-loss order comes quickly, with insufficient provocation or motivation." One might argue that the sufficient provocation and motivation are shown by the 1) brutality he experienced in the war, where he saw many companions die, as he and a few of his friends barely survived only to return and 2) quickly be told upon only being home for a short time that he has to return to a place he was incredibly lucky to get out of aliveeven though he already fulfilled his commitment to the military

"King’s decision to seek help from Senator Worrell reeks of desperation and naïveté." One might also argue that a person in his situation might easily and understandably be both of those things. Desperation and naïveté sound like pretty plausible responses. And having just met a powerful person who offered to help (even if it was perhaps an empty offer), I don't think it is a stretch to seek them out, after realizing the outlook of his position and that simply arguing with the lower levels is not going to do anything.

And how exactly is it a "noble sentiment, but one that has little connection to the real world and the current administration’s military policy, specifically the still-ongoing 'surge?' " It seems to me like that's not really true, either.
