I Believe in Harvey Dent

I just received a package via FedEx at the house that we’re staying at in Austin Texas for SXSW. I don’t know how they found me, but they did. The return address on the FedEx package lists an address for the I Believe in Harvey Dent Campaign Office. Inside was a folder containing a press release (written in character) about how an independent grassroots movement of Gotham City citizens are traveling around to garner support for Gotham City’s Harvey Dent potential decision to run for District Attorney. A quote from the press release reads:

“This is our last chance,” said Laverne DeFoliano, a Gotham mother of four who has been following the Dentmobile in her Chevy station wagon the entire trip. “Unless we can convince Harvey Dent to run for District Attorney, the mobsters and thugs will take over the city and bleed it dry.”

No where on the package or included press release and materials is The Dark Knight or Batman even mentioned. Just IBelieveinHarveyDent.com. The folder included campaign buttons, bumper stickers, postcards, and even a t-shirt. All these materials are being passed out at the scheduled stops on the Dentmobile tour (check here for a schedule of when they will be in your city). Help take back Gotham City!

Just got back from the Waterloo Records stop in Austin. Awesome. I was the fat guy with the couple with the rat dog. =[

It’s a great sign when a movie team “gets” the psychology of the fan base. This film has the best marketing behind it. Nolan has done an excellent job here in spilling the film into the real world.

It’ll only ground it furthur and make it feel more tangible.

Who do you think? The Libyans!

    that’s a damn good campaign

Awesome load there. I waited today for the Dentmobile to show in Philadelphia and it never did. There were 30 or so of us waiting at the designated point and time and nothing.

That is much cooler than any actual campaign material. I wonder how much of the Harvey Dent campaign was planned out before they realized they’d have to turn away from the Joker for a while.

Boston today was great. We campaigned hard!

Walking along the street today at my school, Temple University in Philly, when I glance at some shitty looking graffiti on the sidewalk that reads “VOTE DENT.” What a strange feeling, an amazing ad campaign that catches you way off guard. The strangest part about the grafiti is that it didnt look ‘good’ as in well done, it was simply sort of quickly done in thin fast (red) letters. Either this was a decision to make it look more authentic, and less polishes as previous ‘advert grafiti’, or whomever did it actually was in a big hurry. Any other universities or sightings like this? It’s also a welcome break from OBAMA and HILARY. VOTE DENT. Hmm, Warners if your reading I will campaign for your candidate throughout philly, get at me! brianrinaldi.ok@gmail.com

    Minor Spoiler……

i was reading something about The Dark Knight that said that you get to see the joker through the eyes of someone who gets fear gased…sounds fucking amazing…and that the joker gets fear gased but nothing happens to him because he fears nothing….awesome…it gets better and better

@ capt awesome: great point. i too think they have completely nailed our mindset for this film. its rare, i appreciate it, & this movie cannot come soon enough.

i’m re-watching thank you for smoking as i type, & i’m still on the fence for eckhart in this role. i think he’s got a charisma for harvey, im just not seeing his darker/two-face side yet. this is not a complaint, i have 100% faith in nolan, i guess im just excited to see a vicious side of eckhart that hasn’t been on screen yet. yes, he was nasty in that indie about the 2 buisness guys who screw over the deaf girl, but two-face is a killer, & i havn’t seen eckhart go there in other films.

Just because you haven’t seen an actor do a certain tick on screen doesn’t mean they can’t do it. If that were the case, we would have no actors. =X

I got a whole bagful of campaign buttons from a white unmarked van yesterday night on South Street in Philly. It was very unexpected.
