Last month, the red band movie trailer for Pineapple Express leaked on to the interwebs. Columbia Pictures has been working overtime to get an official greenband movie trailer out, which will likely be attached to Drillbit Taylor and Forgetting Sarah Marshall next month. The new trailer is not as great as the red band trailer, but more than funny enough. Tell me what you think in the comments below.
Produced by Judd Apatow, and written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the superstar team behind SuperBad, Pineapple Express is about a stoner (Rogen) process server named Dale Denton and his dealer (James Franco) Saul are who forced to go on the run from the police and gang leader (Gary Cole), after Dale witnesses a corrupt cop (Rosie Perez) commit a murder. So why is it called The Pineapple Express? Saul is selling a new type of pot known as “Pineapple Express.” Malick-influenced indie filmmaker David Gordon Green makes a huge departure from his critically acclaimed dramatic films (George Washington, All The Real Girls, and Snow Angels). Pineapple Express hits theaters on August 8th 2008.

Works fine for me, still prefer the red band trailer obviously…but I can’t wait for this. I love the Apatow guys.

also works fine here. And I’m glad to see James Franco in this role. nice break from the spiderman movies.

that song is badass. makes it feel like the movie might be a dark comedy.
March 13th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
I agree, that song is fresh. I think it’s the next Cheech and Chong
March 13th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Seems like it could be kind of funny but I just hate hate hate Seth Rogan (as an actor-nothing personal). I personally know 20 guys funnier, better at acting, and more entertaining than Seth Rogan. I just don’t get it. Hopefully they didn’t let him improvise too much.

such a cool song! Looks incredibly funny as well, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t smoke.
March 13th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
The song is pretty cool, it’s M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.”
This is definitely the next Superbad. It’ll get the Harold & Kumar fans too.
It’s a good year for stoner comedies, looks like.

What’s the song?
It’s odd to see a dope movie (get it “dope” movie? I made a funny. And only I laughed) is being sold to mass audiences without a mention of the word yet I’m sure a great deal of the audience knows what they’re “smoking”. Why can’t the studios just mention marijuana in their trailers? MPAA restrictions? What’s the point of ‘em if it’s blatantly obvious what the references are being made to?
March 13th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Love it. This will be the next great stoner flick!
BTW yes that song rocks ass! MIA - Paper Planes in case anyone wants to “legally purchase” it.
Seth Rogen is funny yo. He’s not THE funny, but remember has written a few of the movies he’s been in. Oh and hes also a producer. (Whatever that means)

“I think I pulled my groin!”
March 13th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
I love seeing Seth Rogen fly through the air. And the foot through window gag made me laugh out loud…..So I guess I’m looking forward to this.
March 13th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
“Get your foot outta there!”
Definitely watching.

“I’m kind of flabbergasted when you say things like that, it’s weird.”
“Thank you”
“…Not a compliment”
haha, this looks hilarious.
March 13th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Looks hilarious, and it also seems to be one of those stoner movies that are still great to watch even when you’re not high.
March 13th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
hahaha looks funny,
first i was like.. whats that for a weird movie, then i laughed hard time
March 13th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
“Ahh, I’m also gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday, too…” Love that Lumbergh dude. This movie’s gonna rock.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
I can’t wait to hear the theme song.
March 13th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
Nice trailer. I’ve been watching Freaks and Geeks for the past month so I’m totally down for some Rogan/Franco action.
I just hope that the amount of Apatow productions slow down a little after this because they’re in danger of falling into the same trap as the Frat Pack movies did. That being said, PE looks better than Drillbit Taylor, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Walk Hard.

Can’t wait for this movie. Another funny Apatow film. Seth Rogen and James Franco will be great in this movie.
“Thug Life”

Thanks Tim G.
This looks just as good as the red band.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
The barracudas, foxes, heat guided missiles line is hilarious.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Basically concur with what’s already been said. Looks hilarious and the song is bitchn.
March 13th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
I think that was a pretty damn well edited trailer!
March 13th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
James Franco is just so bizarre - I think this is the perfect vehicle for his talent. All in all, looks like the kind of stoner movie that us “straight folks,” or “losers,” can enjoy just as much. Apatow’s pretty hit-or-miss, but this one’s shaping up to be a hit.
March 14th, 2008 at 1:06 am
watched this at a very early screening last august, and i have to say that it is 10x funnier than any of apatow’s previous movies. franco is perfect for this role and i can’t wait to watch it a couple more times in theatre.
March 14th, 2008 at 6:37 am
Wow - I think this is hands-down the best trailer they’ve had for this. I’ve been lukewarm on it till just now - now, I’m sold!
March 15th, 2008 at 9:39 am
I like. Can’t wait to see this.
March 17th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
finally james franco gets in the pack (yea i saw knocked up and his bro in superbad but im talking bout main ) and i have found new respect for him. im guessin the funniest movie of year and paper planes is so damn good with the trailer.
i also agree with colecovision rogen may not b the best actor but he wrote superbad and this great movie
March 30th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited about this movie. James Franco is my future husband! Finally, he is doing a comedy. Someone please tell that boy that he needs to keep that long scraggly hair forever! It’s hot.
April 26th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Hell ya M.I.A is dope. I’m stoked shes getting out with this movie. I cant wait to see this !!!!! This is a new role or James Franco its nice :)

Does anyone know the song that is playing during the trailer?
June 8th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
music an movies if put together right can give you the best thing ikn the world maybe one day the studios will notice that.
even if the movie bombs right off the bat the song, the preview kicks ass.
June 18th, 2008 at 11:26 am
