Okay, I understand that most of you, including Hunter, are not happy with the movie trailer for The Lost Boys direct-to-dvd sequel, Lost Boys: The Tribe. But I think that everyone’s expectations were just so unreasonable high. Many people forget that this project began as nothing more than a direct-to-dvd movie without any returning stars. I also think that many fans are blinded by the nostalgia of the original film. I love the original Lost Boys, but I have had the perspective to step back and look at it for what it was. Lost Boys is not a masterpiece. Some moments are downright cheesy. Heck, it’s a Joel Schumacher film (yeah, the same guy who made Batman and Robin). So yes, with The Tribe, the special effects are bad, and the acting is a little worse, but it’s better than nothing at all in my mind.
Today, Warner Bros has released a second, longer, movie trailer for The Lost Boys II: The Tribe. Watch it and as always, tell me your thoughts in the comments below (this time I’m sure I’m going to get blasted).
Discuss: Is anyone still interested in Lost Boys 2: The Tribe?

like everyone else, i have a very special place in my heart for the first one. i think this looks pretty terrible, but like you said, it’s not like the original is citizen kane so i don’t particularly care. i also don’t get the ‘you’ve ruined the first one!’ indignation - how did they ruin the first one? it’s still the same movie, isn’t it? do the four psycho sequels wreck psycho? no. no, they do not.
March 13th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
I dont think it looks that bad
March 13th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
honestly, i dont know why we are wasted by this lost boys: the tribe news.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Direct to DVD… Suitable.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
I think people here were expecting too much out of it, like it was the second coming of Christ or something. Come on guys, it’s a direct to DVD sequel of a 20 year old movie, watch it for what it is.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
“Who ordered the stake?” Best… line… ever.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
that who ordered the steak line sold me
March 13th, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I like the music, it had the song longer on the first trailer. Sounds like a re-worked Zug Island song. I’m excited and will probably see it in the theater.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
I never was, and am still not a fan of the original. I watched it again recently hoping that I might have a different take on the film, all these years on. Alas it wasn’t to be, and although it’s enjoyable it’s real 80’s trash. If that same film were released today, it’d get slated. Hang on… That’s what’s happening here, right?
Lost Boys 2 was never going to be amazing, but it actually doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would. And I’ll definitely give it a go when it comes out.
And I didn’t take Hunters opinion as gospel anyway, because he pretty much misses the point on most things it seems.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
I don’t particulary like both trailers, but as you said lack of the original cast returning however whoever edited both trailers should have given corey feldman more time so to bring back some nostalgia of the lost boys. If he weren’t in it , this would be some b vampire flick with the title slapped on. However the film turns out corey feldman will be the saving grace, if it great its because of him, if its crap well he made it a bit watchable
March 13th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
What i can say is am gonna give this one a chance. I’ve watched the first one too many times over the past month and well,I’ve been psyched on this one. The trailer am not gonna base anything off that .Anyone known who sangs the new version of little sister in the other trailer?
March 13th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
“but seriously, we’re vampires”…pffff. But seriously, this made my eyes bleed.
March 13th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
You have got to be kidding me. Another waste of film…
March 13th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Wow. It’s … indescribable.
…Somehow it reminds me of the direct to video movie “bloody pom poms”, a movie about a cheerleading camp out in the middle of nowhere. It’s blood, fart jokes, tits and chearleaders. The movie is so bad it’s hilarious to watch.
Fun trivia: In Sweden the movie “Bloody pom poms” was never sold under that name. No, they didn’t translate the title to Swedish, they just gave it a different name; “Bloody Scream”. That was after “Scream” had been launched, so I guess it sold a couple of copies on name recognition only. I would never have bought it myself I hadn’t seen the original title stowed away in fine print on the bottom edge of the box.
This was just random ramblings generated by 41 hours of sleep depravation.

Peter said it best “better than nothing” Woulda been sweet with a few more cameos.
March 13th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Suck Monkey…Chuckle.
March 13th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
Why is Hansel from Zoolander in this?
March 13th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I think it would be alot better if they let corey feldman just play every part.
March 13th, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Looks like the equivalent of every other vampire movie, why complain.
March 13th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
Perfect for Direct to DVD. I feel sorry for Feldman though. He should have known how bad this was going to be and never did the movie. Corey Haim isn’t even in the movie and he’s a mess. Shouldn’t that have been a sign for Feldman?
March 13th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
they kind of look like the vampires from 30 days of night
March 13th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Haha its not like Felman has a choice. I can’t imagine he could get much of anything else. But at least he isnt selling his teeth on Ebay like Haim.
March 13th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Oh and imdb has Corey Haim listed as being in the movie….so maybe he makes a cameo. Still gonna be a shite movie.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Is it just me or did I hear a BOWSER sound effect growl/roar in there?!
March 13th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
@Graham
Are you kidding me? They look nothing like the Vampires from 30 Days of Nights. Clearly these are just horrible, B-rate vampires that deserve to be stuck on the reruns of Buffy and Angel. The vampires depicted in 30 Days of Nights on the other hand, were bad asses. All of them.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Man, they couldn’t come up with a better song than the one from Need for speed: Most Wanted =/ Hell I’d watch… I’ve seen worse. It’s has to be better then the current wave of dance flicks =(
March 13th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
“So yes, with The Tribe, the special effects are bad, and the acting is a little worse, but it’s better than nothing at all in my mind.”
You’re right; this trailer is better than nothing that is in my mind, either.
March 13th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
As long as Hollywood’s around, there will always be a home for B-movies like this one (and C, D, E…)
March 13th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
I will buy it before I would ever rent it. To me the first Lost Boys is a cult classic. Lost Boys II will sit on the shelf right next to the first one.
Of course put Feldman in! He IS a Frog brother. Haim? Whether he is in it or not makes no difference. The Frog brothers family were permanent residents in the town. With the role Haim played, well his mother brought them to the town to get back on their feet right? (And of course I will feel the fool if it is in a different town)!!
March 13th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
i think what’s most disappointing is that it looks like its just the same story with differnt players, rather than an actual continuation - or next chapter as the VO states. they really could’ve taken this up a notch, storywise, and created a cool little nitch for the lost boys in vampire lore. oh well, another one bites the…neck? (coudn’t resist)
March 13th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
Wow.
I am officially sick to my stomach.
March 13th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
The answer, alas, is no.
This has been another segment of simple answers to simple questions.
March 13th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
The question really is, was anyone EVER interested? Hollywood may not have run out of original ideas, but pulling out something like this sure screams “we couldn’t think of anything cool, so here’s a long-lost sequel you might possibly want to see.” Nobody seems to be able to explain why they made it, or why they think anyone will care.
March 14th, 2008 at 12:19 am
This is some Buffy shit.
March 14th, 2008 at 12:44 am
Alright Alright
I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
First off - the original Lost Boys is an awesome cheesy B vampire movie that is awesome for its 80 nostalgic feel and it has vampires.
and lets face it - - Vampires are fucking awesome
If you disagree fuck you
2nd - After watching the first trailer, my initial thoughts were that it looked bad but I didn’t maybe want to bother. But then Corey Feldman came on screen and I was suddenly more interested.
Then the 2nd trailer, I can’t believe that anyone is insulting this. How could you think they could make a better sequel to The Lost Boys other than making COREY FUCKING FELDMAN a B-movie Vampire Hunting Bruce Plisken Hero?!?! and the part in the 2nd trailer when the guy says “SERIOUSLY WE’RE VAMPIRES” and turned his face was straight out of Buffy. I for one will be enjoying watching this. It will be no masterpiece but it will put a smile on my face.
Peace Out
March 14th, 2008 at 12:45 am
haha that guy posted before I finished
Whedonrepresent?
March 14th, 2008 at 6:21 am
i’d rather watch the original again and enjoy it!
March 14th, 2008 at 6:36 am
This looks like a pile of dog shit.
March 14th, 2008 at 8:55 am
I wish Huey & the News did the theme song for this instead of Pineapple Express.
March 14th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Sorry, but I can’t agree with the “it’s better than nothing at all”. I’d rather have one and only one if all they’re going to do is turn in a half-arsed “re-quel”. From the trailer it becomes pretty apparent that they’re copying the original with a bunch of Z-grade actors and throw in the “mature”… Frog brothers and, I would guess, a brief appearance by Haim just to thrill the old LB-fans.
I’ll watch it, just to satisfy my curiosity, but I’m fairly certain it is going to suck (pardon the pun) ;-)
March 14th, 2008 at 11:40 am
ok, it’s going to be cheesy, corny, and probably more than a little lame. But as a direct to video flick, it will likely still entertain to some extent. I like Feldman but that’s because of the nostalgia factor that will always have a special place in my heart, hey I grew up when the Coreys ruled the teen days…I’m keeping expectations low and just going to give it a chance.
March 14th, 2008 at 11:44 am
“Who ordered the stake?” Ahahahahahahaha
This movie is going to be SO bad that it migh
be good. I’m still going to sit down with my
brother, have a few drinks and enjoy the horror.
March 14th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Perhaps after drinking a six pack this might pass as hilarious.
March 15th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Look. The soundtrack from the original was so fucking 80’s great that this movie will suck on that basis alone. Did I see no Allan Frog? Or Sam? Cry Little Sister was by Sisters of mercy, and god have mercy…..This is in the same vein as the sequels to Dusk til Dawn…or Alladin….
March 15th, 2008 at 9:34 am
the change in tone of the comments without Hunter’s excessively negative borderline crying mini-review is hilarious lol And quite frankly, if Hunter has ever claimed to like the first Lost Boys movie then he’s a huge hypocrite
March 17th, 2008 at 9:03 am
check out www.lostboysplea.com to help put The Tribe on the big screen!!
March 17th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
The first will always have a soft spot in my heart…But this movie will not. I won’t watch that poop.
March 19th, 2008 at 8:24 am
The Lost Boys is my favorit movie of all times, this movie looks like crap. You just ruined the first one. The person speaking about the music in the first movie is right, the music was best in the soundtrack for the first lost boys! I will not be seeing this movie
March 19th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
I am so with Dan on this one, I have a place in my heart for the first Lost Boys movie, it’s a classic vampire movie!!! I remember the first time I watched it, I was mesmarized by it, and will never forget it. I think no matter what people say I think it’s going to be a good movie, and a great sequel to the first. And I am really excited to add it to my collection.
March 22nd, 2008 at 11:40 am
i cant wait to see it lost boys is my obssession ill make myself love it i swear.long live frog bros
March 23rd, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I was a huge fan of The Lost Boys as are my 2 children and we are Super excited about a sequel. So what if it’s cheesy, number one was as well. The stupid quotes are part of the fun. . .”My own brother, a GD SH** sucking vampire. You wait til mom finds out buddy”, “Kill your brother, you’ll feel better”, “DEATH BY STEREO”. God if we get just a couple more of those and some intense vampiric gore and violence it’s an excuse to have a good time. If the soundtrack doesn’t disappoint too much all the better. BRING IT ON!!!!
March 24th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
I’m not really happy about this movie, although I will watch it. Im motly put off my the change in make up. The make up from the original seemed signature, like you KNEW it was from “the lost boys”. It was streamlined, sexy yet scary. They still looked young with the makeup, part human. The new make up looked forced, like they were trying to hard to make them look scary. The thought of someone ripping your scalp off ( remember the bonfire in the original?) to drink your blood that way is pretty scary enough. And the surfer angle….kinda strays a little too far from what was such a simple idea. Or they could have played up the “rockstar” side of surfers. The “I want to be one of THoSE guys aspect. For some reason I don’t see that happening. And lastly, where is Alan Frog? And Edgar could have changed a little…it would have been ok. Of course I realize this is just the trailer, and I will watch the movie. I just hope I dont want to throw things at the screen afterwards.
March 25th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Okay, here is the deal for all you morons who don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Lost Boys 2 was initially filmed without the intention of having Corey Haim in it. Not because Warner Bros. didn’t want him in it but because due to immigratiion purposes Haim was not allowed to go to Vancouver where the movie was filmed-Basically a polite way of saying court problems,ie.detainers preventing him from traveling to that part of Canada. Once the movie was completed,Warner Bros. green lit additional footage to be filmed featuring Haim as there was an enormous clamor by fans of the cult original to have him in it. As well as Feldman Haim has a significant role but similar to Jason Newlander, is not in the movie as long as Feldman who basically will be carrying the movie and is one of the leads.Angus Sutherland, one of the main Vampires is Keifer’s half brother.
March 27th, 2008 at 10:56 am
I saw the 1st Lost Boys when I was a kid and enjoyed every minute of it, I’ve been waiting along time for them to come out with another one. Seeing the trailer for the new lost boys it looks like it be pretty cool. I can’t wait for it. I hope that if this one does good I hope they do another, maybe I’ll try to even write the 3rd one .
March 29th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
I have to agree, that I expected a little more from the Lost Boys. The guys are supposed to be “hip”, if you will, even when vamped out!! The buffy/Angel look has to go. Don’t get me wrong, I will still end up seeing the video. It could be better than it lets on. Still. the original will always be the one to remember. Stay down Santa Carla!!
April 8th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
I don’t know what looks so bad about it? I think it looks like a kick ass movie!!!
I can’t wait to see it……As it’s been said before, the first movie was one we won’t soon forget but this one looks like a great addition.
April 9th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
OK so I just found out about this movie bein made and I about had a heartattack .The Lost Boys is and allways will be my favorite movie of all time I can quote the whole movie from front to end and prolly eveen backwards. Now for the new one it won’t be as good as the first no sequal is no matter what but I think it will rock no matter what even if it goes straight to DVD The Lost Boys is and always will be an 80’s classic ,everyone give this one a chance yeah it is like over 20yrs later and thats a pretty long time to wait to make a sequal but just wait till it actually comes out before we say it totally sucks ass ohhh yeah and to correct the guy up there Cry Little Sister was done by Gerard Mcmann He wrote the song and preformed it for the first Lost boys.
Like I said it’s my fav movie ever i know just about everything bout that movie have even watched the 12 deleted scenes from the first one.
April 12th, 2008 at 11:51 am
Any sequel that has to add ‘THE…’ to its title SUCKS! Now a days people can’t make good sequels, follow books or even make a good movie. I must refer to the movie, “I am legend”, the movie was a dissapointment. The book is way better, more to imagine! These sequels are for those no name, pretty face actors/actresses, burnt out, wannabe, mini-wheat(hey, look at me!) come back because I spent all my money puppets! Please…. someone…..I beg you….make a good vampire movie!
April 12th, 2008 at 3:36 pm
The problem with vampire movies in general as far as who thinks what looks good is there are too many schools of thought on vampires….You have you classic Anne Rice vamps (The big prissy limp wrist kind) and then you have your classic vampire lovers (Black cape, medallion, pale skin) of course there’s the mean ass vampires (Dusk till Dawn) and the civil vampires (Blade series) so try to overlook all of that and think of the movie in terms of entertainment value, will you enjoy watching the movie? I mean we don’t go see movies like “Superhero Movie” and think “Well the movie isn’t going to be as good as this or that.” We go because it’s fun to watch….I say we just wait and see……the only thing I want is a copy of the new cry little sister….IMDB says it’s from a group called Aiden but I can’t find it anywhere…at all! =(
April 23rd, 2008 at 4:27 pm
well i liked the trailer i know one thing i will be there when it 1st hits
the movies or dvd. :)
April 25th, 2008 at 7:51 am
I haven’ seen it …but corey feldman is in it and he hasn’t aged a bit! Still a cutie pie!
May 5th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
I can not wait for the new Lost boys movie to come out , but it will never be as good as the first one.
May 5th, 2008 at 4:58 pm
The first Lost Boys movie was cool, but I can not wait for the new one to come out.
