The Incredible Hulk Movie Trailer

The Incredible Hulk

FINALLY!! After months and months of waiting, Universal has released a movie trailer for The Incredible Hulk reboot/sequel.

Whatever company cut this trailer deserves a bonus. I love how you could have no idea this is an Incredible Hulk movie until the last 30 seconds. And the prolonged suspense of seeing the first reveal of the big green guy was handled masterfully. I don’t think he looks much different than the Ang Lee version, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Many feel that Ang Lee’s film failed due to the lack of action and over dramatized plot (oh yeah, and the unfinished special effects superbowl incident). I’m not too impressed by Abomination however, and I’m not sure if they story will be a-level quality we expect from Marvel (especially from all the script reviews I have read). But it definitely sounds like this film will address all the concerns raised by Lee’s failed effort. Watch the trailer, and tell me what you think in the comments below.

You can also watch the trailer in High Definition on MTV. Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt smashes its way into theaters on June 13th 2008.

Discuss: What do you think of The Incredible Hulk movie trailer?

  • Ghost
I of course thought this would be more action packed meaning more Hulk action. But from the look of the trailer it seems that they hold back until the Abomination is way out of control and they release Banner ala Ultimates style into the fray to finish him off. Still I hope the story holds up on it's own cause I figured it would be all action and hardly any story at all.

    second......best incredible hulk movie everrrrrrrrrrrr

best year for movies that we all like since.....never
  • dan
    Uh...

Okay, someone help me out with this.

At least to me, Gollum, the Transformers, Davy Jones, and King Kong were some of the best CGI of their time (which, yes, I know..wasn't that long ago).

Why the fuck does Hulk and Abomination still look like some CG hack shit?

This is why you don't have the director of THE TRANSPORTER do a film like this.

    Looks pretty weak.
  • dan
Also, sorry to double post..but whats up with Edward Nortan's pompadour?
  • Pangloss
this trailer is the definition of "meh" to me. CG looks pretty weak and i can't believe liv tyler is still finding work. seeing this after hearing edward norton was having problems with the final edit has me extremely worried, i see this movie making a lot of money but being a pretty mediocre film.
  • JudasBarronx1
    Oh My Damn! I likey!
  • Ezra dulis
The CG looks worse than the Ang Lee version. That film is vastly underrated, and it will probably be remembered as superior.
  • Those fools at MTV need to learn how to encode good video… ouch.
  • C
I'm not sold on the CGI, but Norton has earned enough credit in my book to give it a chance. Interesting how 3 of our best actors are in comic book movies this year: Bale, Norton, Downey Jr.

The Dark Knight still rules them all.
  • meg
Monsters smashing things, Banner on the run. Great cast. What else do you want?
  • Ghost
I also thought Abomination's run looked pretty badly animated.
  • Cinemaniac1979
Sorry, this trailer doesn't do it for me. Not when I have Indy, The Strangers, Funny Games, Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, Wall*E, Dark Knight, Pineapple Express, and a whole slew of other superior movies to look forward to...
  • matthew
man, you guys are tools. its MARVEL for christ's sake.....if the CGI looks crappy, consider this: it's probably not finished AND how realistic looking can a giant greent monster get? i mean really. so long as they give hulk the story he deserves, i'll be happy. shit looks awesome to me.
  • Clarence Somerset
Hulk looks turtle-like .... its the color! He was too green in the first one and too turtle-green in this one lol!

as for the abomination's run ... roth himself said they made his actions a bit clumsy cos he's supposed to be unused to running with such a huge size!
  • The more realistic the subject matter the CGI is trying to represent the better, except when you cross into a human subject. The problem with the HULK and others like him is our own human nature fighting against us, we already know that a ten foot tall giant green creature is not real, and no amount of expensive CGI is going to convince our brain otherwise. This is a huge hurtle for effects right now and isn't going to be easily defeated. So that's why the CGI continues to "not look right". Otherwise it is damn good effects work. (Although the 'run' did look a little floaty, maybe they aren't finished with the final composite yet?)

This looks interesting and I'll give it a shot. Norton fighting for script and edit is Norton being Norton and that should make the movie better, it always has at least. So I trust that. I also enjoyed the Ang Lee version for what it was, a HULK movie is inherently a silly ass concept when you think about it. But kudos to those who keep trying.
  • Shana
i think the hulk looks horrible. and abomination looked far too computer animated, i love edward norton and i have to say he does it for me way more than eric bana could.

it will be all about batman, indy and iron man for me though.
  • Gianni
From the trailer it looks like there is going to be tons of movie before he actually becomes or really harnesses the power of the Hulk.

    I hope I'm wrong.

  • ellis
    I liked the first one.
  • Orange Clockwork
Speed Racer looks better, to be quite honest.
  • han
Why does Hulk sound Godzilla-like when he yells? Why can't he sound like a big angry guy?
  • Tabor
At least this one looks like the Hulk. Not so much abomination.
  • starblazer101
ok so this hulk looks exactly the same as the hulk in the first movie
except that this new one has a bunch of veins poppin out all over his body hehe and the Abomonation doesnt look a thing like the original one and i really hope that he doesnt come out all the way
till the end of the movie cause it would really suck if that were to happen lol
  • Barrie
I was in Toronto last year when they were filming this movie. Toronto was made to look like New York and the scene they were filming was the major fight scene in the trailer. I'm looking forward to seeing this.
  • orange cinema
looks cool, but i gotta rate it this way:

-for TDK i'll wait in line opening day, no matter how long.

-for hulk, i'll see it the second or third week its out.
  • uo
Oh man - I didn't really care about this film till now. It looks awesome.
  • All that build up and wait ...for THAT?!?!

If this trailer is a representation of the film...then like everyone else has stated...they seem to leave the action till the end. Which was the complaint everyone had of the Ang Lee Hulk. Unless that end battle of the trailer is actually in the middle of the film and the second half of the film is all Hulk fights. Which I doubt.....

The effects look mediocre at best.... and TBH I'm really sick and tired of seeing fights at night. I paid to see this film and the Hulk....I want the action sequences to be in the fucking day light for christ sakes.
I'm not gonna pre-judge the whole film....but this trailer is failure.
  • meh...

They kept us waiting all this time for this crap????
and regarding CG, hmm... what do u expect??? R&H sucks!!! (aside from the Aslan in Narnia) They never can do a good CG character.

and It's funny the same people who liked this trailer hated Speed Racer which IMO was a lot lot better than this
  • Got to remember (HOPEFULLY) this is not the finished product and they will touch up were they need to. Norton will make this movie, just as long as rest does not bring it to far down. HOPEFULLY!!!!!
  • B33
Eh, not sure what all the bitching and fuss is about the CGI. Looks fine at this state. I'm sure it'll be more polished in due time. Regardless, it looks much better than Lee's pile of garbage he spewed out to us a few years back.

Ok , I've been a hulk fan nearly my entier life the hulk comes second to only godzilla. I really liked the frist hulk movie it had a good story and good action, the movie was good inthat it had hulk doing what he does best smash and fight. I have only have one thing to say about this new film , it will be A FLAMEING PICE OF SHIT!!!. It will make no money or hardly any money and it will DOOM Ed Norton's career forever. P.S. ED nothing personal I loved you in fight club, but your not Bruce banner.
  • Captain Awesome
It's good to finally see films get videogame cinematic-quality special effects.

This is why my faith in humanity will never be revived.

    looks shit
  • Craig
CGI is horrible in this trailer. And here I thought Transformers would set a new standard FX wise. I was wrong. Even the running looked fake.

Norton is one of my favourite actors, but based on this trailer.. I think I may pass on seeing this.

    Thank god for Ironman.
  • B33
Again, this was a teaser. The final film will more than likely look better and the CGI really isn't that bad. You can't judge the final film based on what the trailer consisted of. But, hey, who am I to use logic against a bunch of assholes?
  • Captain Awesome
    Craig,

To be fair, robots and rigid forms like metal, rock and so on are a lot easier to do in 3d than something that's organic, like say a humanoid form or creature. ILM does well with rigid and straight-forward elements. But as soon as you get ILM to do something involing organic characters, it's over. The one good thing they hit out of the park and still amazes me was what they did with Davy Jones. He was amazing in terms of detail and skin effects.

R&H are just another CG company who have never done great effect in general. They ruined Superman Returns for me in terms of effects. Same goes for this stuff in the trailer.
  • Connor
I don't know why they needed a re-boot. I somewhat enjoyed the original Hulk, except for the whole dog thing. The themes of science, and the whole gamma ray thing was pretty cool, I also thought Bruce's father had some really cool powers. Could've just done a sequel imo. The CGI for this doesn't look that great.
  • Sauce
The hate on this site just reaches crazy proportions sometimes.

Honestly...CGI should rank about 6th on the importance scale, and yet, everyone has judged this movie solely on the effects.
If anything you kids should be worried about the storyline. Seems pretty plain Jane to me, but the film looks alright.

Also, since when did people really start hating on Liv Tyler?

    Summer Rankings:

    1. Wall*E
    2. The Dark Knight
    3. Iron Man
    4. Indy 4

Take it easy folks, they're just movies.
  • Eddie
Is it just me or has Lou Ferrigno really bulked up for this role! Wow! The movie looks tired, but Ferrigno looks amazing! This could be the best superhero movie since The Punisher with Dolph Lundgren.
  • B33
You know, if Marvel really wanted to put all the haters in place, why didn't they just get WETA to create the CGI elements?
  • anthony
the action and concept looks way better....but im not sold on the CGI!!1

    i might go see it....
  • Captain Awesome
    Sauce,

This is a movie discussion board. People have a right to not take it easy on something they like or don't. Last time I checked the Hulk pretty much revolves around being nothing or mainly being a "special effect" film. It's why this re-boot happened. People whined about the first film's pacing and lack of action.

This re-boot should be all about the special effects since its nothing but a 2 hour battle between 2 fully-CG creatures. So of course people are going to watch the effects closely on this.
  • Captain Awesome
    B33,

Because Marvel always try to find ways to cut corners. They obviously went with the cheaper "bid" on effects houses. It's how R&H won Superman Returns. Weta would make an amazing Hulk.

Just thinking about what Weta could do with a CG hulk depresses me.
  • Where's the epic voiceover? It's the only thing missing from this terribly conventional action movie trailer. It's already got the heart-thumping music, the massive tagline introduced to you a few words at a time, and the cutting away to the logo right before the major battle commences.

"One man.... must face.... the most incredible evil this world has ever seen...." Something like that.
  • B33

King Kong was downright incredible and lifelike... It would have paid off even though the CGI isn't that bad... Though ILM doesn't compare to WETA in any shape or form.
  • Fred
The CGI really looks second rate. It's too bad, the rest of it leading up didn't look half bad. Certainly Roth and Norton are top notch.
  • SlashSleuth
    Captain Awesome,
Before you go flapping your mouth, check up on your facts, R&H had a small hand in Superman, primarily the Brando sequence. Your also talking about a studio that won an oscar for VFX this year for golden compass.
  • KC
Hmmm, the layers of badness. . . . Silly CG ruins a special effects film. I wonder if Marvel even cares. Ah well, there's a charm in big budget B movies.
  • I think it's going to rule.
