torontonian here,
as you may or may not have heard, the leafs are no joke here.
mike meyers doing this film is no cash grab, its a homage.
if billy cristal did a yankee’s flik all you would hear about is “…his love for the city/franchise”. the same aplies for meyers and toronto. cut the man some slack.
its like any of you making a movie about your most worshiped childhood icon.
it’ll most likely flop and you can hate if you want, but 3 million people got his back up here (except for Cat in the Hat).

and i think justin is playing a french canadian. hispanics have yet to make their mark on the NHL.

Its disappointing to think of Mike Myers doing things for money. With Shrek and Cat In The Hat and three Austin Powers movies under his belt you think he could spend the time on a decent comedic flick. But I guess that’s the point; he is out of touch, has become Eddie Murphy and has to make trash… that somehow still sells. I wonder if Guru will be nominated for any academy awards for makeup this year?

at amc theatres they have a kung fu panda sponsored ‘turn off your cellphones’ message before all movies, and its awkwardly unfunny. i cant imagine the movie being any better, especially given dreamwork animation’s epic fail of a catalogue. bee movie, shark tale, over the hedge. shrek. fuck that shit.

and jesus christ the love guru looks terrible.

Thanks for the announcement! I’ve been waiting for Kung Fu Panda to come out for a while, so I’m even more excited for it now. I’m really glad to see it got a good review.

I agree with your comments about Mike Meyer’s new movie. I tend to like most of his movies, but while watching the trailer for The Love Guru, I didn’t exactly fall in love with it. I’m kind of disappointed that the other clips that they showed from the movie seemed to be the same from the trailer. I hope that they are able to fix it up.
