The trailer is great… but responding to the first comment: how can you have seen the premiere when the movie is still in production? Not coming for at least another 6 months… sceduled for release on September 12th 2008

LOL. It does look like him, eh? He’s not listed on IMDB for this film though. Not sure who the actor is. When I first saw the trailer, I was like Pacino? Pfffft. AMH + De Niro is where it’s at!

I think it looks pretty incredible. Just those scenes alone with 2 great actors like that is worth the time. It seems like a dark buddy cop movie, and I’m feeling a Pacino heel turn.

88 minutes WAS released on DVD.
For some reason they think it’s good enough for theaters now, but it’s really not that awesome.

If I remember correctly, Al Pacino’s movie “People I Know” co-starring Tea Leoni also went straight to DVD.
So 88 minutes wasn’t Al’s first movie to been rejected by the big screen.

I personally saw rental copies of 88 Minutes (not bootlegs) in rental stores last summer and this has been backed up by many.

Either way, 88 Minutes is one of the worst films Al Pacino has ever done. Why this director deserves to helm a film with Pacino and De Niro is beyond me.

There’s a mistake in your article - 88 minutes is not going straight to DVD, it will be hitting theaters on April 18th I think.

People think it’s going straight to DVD because of some legal issues about the spread of copies of the movie in the international market. The movie was never officially released straight-to-DVD.

The supporting cast, premise, trailer, and shots of the dance club do not bode well. And as much as I love the high water marks of DeNiro and Pacino’s careers, we all know they are capable of taking a check and making absolute garbage. But, that said, the thing that gives me hope that this will be worthwhile is the fact that it is writtern by the guy who wrote Inside Man, which was a really terrific and fun genre film.

I was surprised by the trailer.. Its actually pretty good. I saw this movie 2 weeks ago at the first screener, and I have to say that the trailer doesnt really represent the movie too well… (not saying thats a good/bad thing)
