I've got a family friend in the industry, who said that hbo were thinking of cutting the show, so when chase n crew heard the rumours they decided to leave the ending like this in order to just screw with hbo, so that hundreds of fans would complain to the network n whinge n shit.

But, in my opinion, as much as I would love to watch more Sopranos, I think a movie would be a letdown, and if the movie had a conclusive ending then people would probably love it at the time and maybe for a few years after but then forget about it. Whereas this ending leaves people guessing and wondering for a long time after it finished. No movie is needed, although i would still love to see one haha :)

I think that with all the prequels out their.....Maybe it might be a good thing to see a movie that happend before the tv show started...Maybe with tonys dad still boss and what happend in tony's life to make him who is now.....

Or just continue from the last episode.....I want to know???? Maybe the men that were at the diner where undercover cops not mob hit men....Maybe Tony is finaly going to have to face the courts...In the show they were working on a case on Tony....I think no matter what they need to make a movie.......

David Chase is awesome. The final episodes were brilliant at best. All the answers are there, no movie will be made.

I just finished watching the last episode. I decided I was going to watch the whole series from first to last. I'm pretty fucking far behind eh? And already knowing how it ended because the media had a hissy fit when the last episode aired on HBO, I'm glad I knew the ending wasn't going to be what I wanted. Even still, I had to rewind right to the bell of the door opening and Tony looking up. I'm kind of 50/50 on it though.

First, as a few people have already stated on here about not knowing, seeing, or hearing when you're going to get popped makes a lot of sense and maybe Chase decided that's how he wanted the series to end. There was the shady guy in the member's only jacket they kept going back to. The guy in the hat drinking coffee a few tables away. The black guys walking in that Tony didn't notice. A lot of loop holes in my opinion.

But these things I feel were purposely left open. I would really like to see a Sopranos movie. I haven't been to the movies in years because most of it is shit that comes out. And, like someone mentioned earlier they made a fucking 'Sex in the city' movie. How could they not make a Sopranos? As for the other person saying the club owner is full of shit and doing it for publicity, I can see his point. Then again, HBO could easily build a replica set of Bada Bing (inside and outside) and it wouldn't be impossible to do.

Regardless I love the series and wish I could have closure or at least watch more of it. I'm not going to speculate on what I think the movie (if they do make it) should or shouldn't be about because that is pointless. I just really want to know what happens to Tony. Sure most of his crew are gone and a lot of the main supporting cast has been whacked or died, but there are still a million possibilities out there and plenty of good writers around that hopefully won't turn it into another Godfather III.

Whoever reads this of an relevance (and I don't mean 'I know someone who works for HBO' bullshit lies) don't leave your fans hanging like this. Hell make a podcast ending, write a book, make it a musical. ANYTHING. Just don't leave us hanging.

The most frustrating part of all this is good tv shows only come around once in a bluemoon. There was a dry spell after the Sopranos left HBO but luckily it was not too long after that that 30 Rock on NBC and Mad Men on AMC showed up. I am using these two shows to get me by until the Sopranos movie shows up at the theaters. Even if it never shows up, 30 Rock and Mad Men are so fun to watch I have almost forgotten about the Sopranos.

Make it!!!!!! Tens of millions of people are still in withdrawal. Mercifully, every episode of every season was of such high quality that you can soak continual enjoyment from them for countless viewings. God I wish they would make another season but I'll happily take a Sopranos movie. They certainly don't have to worry about it being successful.

If The Soprano's is developed into a movie, I'm sure David Chase will make it brilliant as he did with the television series.

I would love to see David Chase do a big screen version of The Sopranos. Of course, I would go see it. David Chase seems like a man that like to end shows on a high note. Maybe this is to keep it in peoples' minds as long as possible. If he was to do a movie he risks not-outdoing-himself as compared to the HBO series. Thus, having the media criticize his choices on directing. From my experiences watching a movie that has a new cast it takes me several watches to accept the new characters. Die-hard fans of the mini-series may not have a difficulty with this. But, those non-diehard fans but still enjoy the show are the ones David Chase needs to convince.

also....i just dont feel that Tony was killed. An attempt on his life would not be made in front of his family. Unless, of course, he was in hiding. Which he wasnt. The war was over....so any attempt would be made without his family being present. David Chase had a nice grasp on the large list of rules the Cosa Nostra follow. I dont think he would have gone against the grain.

i would think a sopranos movie might be in the same line as the Godfather II. Two stories in two seperate generations. Tony as a kid perhaps with a new don in the present. Tony being shot and maybe AJ takes over along the lines of Michael in Godfather 1. Or Meadow....a Belladonna.

Not likely going to happen. My reasons - (1) historically mini-series don't translate well into the big screen (most recent example is Sex and the City), (2) most of important, original cast has died off, (3) the then cast admit they are tired and want to move on in their careers.

If Chase is to do a movie version the new cast has to do well in their performances and imitate the mini-series well. This is extremely hard to do with preconceptions of the audience.

no freakin movie. that's just ridiculous. yeah, the last scene was gimmicky; f'ing with our heads with a paranoia that was not one of tony's traits (then again, maybe they weren't feeding us paranoia, maybe tey were showing the constant and normal state of awareness of his surroundings that tony lived in - still gimmicky.) i like to think that he got killed in that diner, like that guy said up there, they set it up in the first episode of the season with the characters talking about how when you die you don't see it coming: there's just sudden blackness - not even music with the rolling credits. foretelling his demise earlier on, they even gave us tony's dreams of how his life could've been something else. all the filler about carmella, a.j., etc. was telling us to move on, get ready for a "nothing to see here." it was true to real life, like the show had always been (with the giant exception that i always thought that tony was one hell of a nice guy for being a mafia boss.)
good god, man, it's been a year and i still have to try and not expect or anticipate a movie. what the f would the movie be without uncle jun? or the expected heir to the throne, christopher? big pussy? i like sylvio but i think he should die in the hospital. i guess they could have flashbacks of livia. what, would they try to bring deniro and pesci into it? i like to think and hope that david chase would not permit a movie. hahaha that club owner promoting his business... i'd do the same if i was him

In my opinion the ending was a perfect fit. I read a couple of articles that explained what Chase was striving to do. He basically wanted the black out that occured at the finale to be like the camera shutting off. Essentially we got to see how tony lives his life but it cannot go on forever.

A sopranos movie would make a lot of money, so I'm sure HBO is pulling for it. Personally I think it would soil the phenominal ending delivered by chase and crew. I love the charectors and the scenarios. I pictured the ending a thousand different ways before it was shown and none of them were what the ending was. It was a great ending because it was open, you can still discuss it with your friends and come up with stuff, if the movie comes out it will, unintentionally, betray the show that could be one of the greatest mafia medias you will see. Keep it what it is.
