The Dark Knight

Last night I received an email from longtime /Film Reader Robby B claiming to have the scoop on a new movie trailer for The Dark Knight. I’ve tried all day to double source this one, but have come up with nothing. The most I can get out of anyone is that “Yes, the trailer focuses more on the Harvey Dent character.” I’ll admit, the description sounds rather short and a little bland, but maybe because it’s something that you need to see, rather than read about. Check out the description after the jump.

Hey, longtime reader. I’ve been fortunate enough to see the new Dark Knight trailer. My mind has officially been blown.

Some marketing people were outside the movie theater last night asking for volunteers to show trailers to and then asking people questions about them. They had a little booth set up with computer screens and headphones. One of the other ones shown was the old Speed Racer trailer. The guy was nice enough to let me watch the DK one multiple times. I wrote down the dialogue in my phone. Kinda sucks because I was hoping to get a glance at two-face but all we got was Harvey.

Here’s my description.

It opens with a camera flying over Gotham. We see the same shot of Batman on the roof used in a previous trailer. Harvey Dent’s voice over: “It’s an honor to finally meet you”

They cut to Bruce and Harvey in a restaraunt (the same one from the previous trailer with the shots of rachel). We now see Eckhart talking, he continues his dialougue: “Rachel’s told me everything about you.”

Bruce smiles. “I truly hope not”

The Batpod races through a narrow alley and cop cars brake and crash into each other since they can’t fit through.

Citizens gaze up at the Joker talking on multiple TV moniters outside an electronic store.
Joker (fuzzy and shadowy on the screen) “Starting tonight people will die. I’m a man of my word.” Echoing laughter.

Gordon, Dent, and Batman on a rooftop.
Gordon: “I want to be clear on this. In our zeal to bring him to justice. I’ll let you bend the rules but we cannot break them. Otherwise, how are we different from him?
Dent: “Of Course”
Batman: “Agreed”

Dark Knight theme and Logo cued.

Reading the Long Halloween soon. Just finished Year One. Man The Dark Knight will be motherfucking glorious. I am so glad this is happening. Thank You Chris Nolan. And of course, Ledger, Bale, and Eckhart.

I have been waiting for this movie since I saw the first one. I thought all the casting decisions were great. Christopher Nolan/Christian Bale is becoming quite a tandem. This movie is gonna be awesome. I wish we could see the new trailer!

    The Long Halloween!
    YES!

I would have said enough with trailers lets get on with the movie, but that end bit is worth it!

According to Superhero Hype there is no new trailer and according to WB documents the only new trailer attached to 10,000 BC is for Speed Racer. There have been reports from people who have seen advanced screenings and there is no new trailer, sadly.

Rezzo, just because there is no new trailer on 10,000bc, doesn’t mean there is no new trailer

Speculation all week has been that a new trailer would should up with 10,000 BC since it´s a WB movie, but that´s not looking likely at the moment. Hopefully a new trailer will come out soon though.

josh, maybe because that’s the exact line by the joker from the first teaser to come out lol

  12. Gravatar

I’m so glad the Gordon/Dent/Bats conversation is in there. There really is no other way it could’ve played out.

I would have to agree with Peter on this one. I may have to see it o appreciate it. It seems a little dull to me on the page.

Perhaps I’ll be proved wrong, and I hope I am, because I don’t like to think of people making stuff up for attention, but that sounds like *Absolute* rubbish!
I’d be VERY disappointed if that is the new trailer - the dialogue reads as poor and cliché and pasted together from random sources, and it would only be about thirty seconds long.

Someone has been reading the Wizard World trailer description and watched the first trailer and read The Long Halloween one too many times.
i t just seems this guy took certain dialogue from each one and blended it together, but still it sounds awesome I hope it’s true, he should’ve focused on when the trailer comes out and what movie it is going to play with.

yeah i thought i recognised that from Long Halloween. great!

All of that, was pretty much from previous footage. The Bruce and Dent footage was on at a Comic Con show or something…”Starting Tonight, People Will Die. I’m a man of my word” was from the teaser trailer…and Dent, Batman and Gordon on the rooftop is word for word from The Long Halloween…don’t believe this by a long shot!

i think that there is a trailer coming on sunday…its been almost a week since the harvey dent thing popped up and the last trailer was released on a sunday…i just think that if that guy did see a sneak peak at the trailer i dont think warners showed the whole thing…they dont need some random people running around telling everyone they have seen two face footage or obvious hints at his appearance…everyone has seen the action figure so im thinking nolan and company are just gonna give it to us…the appearance isnt a spoiler…its the actions of the characters in the film…so i think thats what were in for on sunday….

Yeah sounds pretty much what I expected - that roof scene reads like a pitch perfect remake of the scene at the start of Sale/Loeb’s graphic novel ‘The Long Halloween’.

Also the Joker’s inclusion appears to be very similar to his first encounter with Batman (by date) in which he broadcasts on media set times and dates by which he’ll kill key members of power in Gotham City and despite the police’s best efforts to stop him.

If this is a rumour then fine but it does seem in keeping with everything the filmmakers have shared with us til now as to what TDK’s storyline will be.

I guess they’ve put together bits we have already scene with a few new parts so that they have still not shared too much despite a teaser/prologue/2 trailers -

I heard Framestore CFC are still doin some of the Two-Face shots - it would be a real shame to show him after the Maroni courtcase! So please don’t WB!

I hear that Total Film are doin something in march in Leicester Square - showing ‘Behind-the-scenes’ of TDK as part of some function - perhaps the trailer will be shown there?

Interesting. Sounds short, but I can’t wait! :-)

  21. Gravatar

I need to see this! I’m far to excited about this film for my own good…

Gordon, Dent, and Batman on a rooftop? Awesome. Yeah. Anyone who’s read Batman Long Halloween knows where that awesome scene comes from. I can only hope that this rumor is true. The more of that book they use, the better.
