Cool Stuff: R2-D2 PC Case Mod

I’m not one to go goo goo for PC case mods. I respect the work that went into them, and appreciate the artistry, but I just don’t have the time, effort, or interest to create something myself. Plus, I find the mac form factor to be all I need. But this case mod is different.

The Contaminated built a computer inside an original R2-D2 chassis specially created by Australian firm Petric Engineering. The paint job doesn’t look as great close-up, but that’s my only fanboyish minor complaint. Not much more about the mod is known, so let’s just get to the photos - available after the jump.

Aside from the geek factor of this, do they really have that much hardware to fill an R2 unit with? Seems to take up a lot of space.

I agree with Ghost. Seems that they could have modded out the remote control R2 that came out a year or so ago. It’s about a quarter the size and could easily fit all you need. But, I guess having a full size R2 in your room is kind of cool. What about a full size C3PO to hold the monitor? Too much? :)
