Paramount has released the movie trailer for the upcoming Mike Myers comedy The Love Guru. This looks about as funny as the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy, Don’t Mess With the Zohan. And both of the aforementioned movies make the upcoming Will Ferell/John C Reilly comedy Step Brothers look like a masterpiece.
Jessica Alba fills her quota as the token good looking romanic interest, and Justin Timberlake tries his SNL-style comedy on the big screen. Watch the trailer and please tell me what you think in the comments below.
You can also watch the trailer in High Definition on MovieFone. The Love Guru hits theaters on June 20th 2008.
Discuss: What do you think of The Love Guru movie trailer?

February 28th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
1. Megan Good is insanely hot.
2. Justin Timberlake is not funny in any way shape or form other than maybe how funny it is that he tries so hard to be funny.
3. Looks funny enough to see on dvd, but I’m not gonna go rushing to the theater.
February 28th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
I thought Justin Timberlake was supposed to play the star hockey player?
February 28th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Whoa, that’s rank. At first I thought it would be a remake of ‘The Guru,’ a 2003 comedy that starred Jimi Mistry, Heather Graham and Marisa Tomei that I actually liked. Mistry plays an Indian immigrant who comes to America with dreams of becoming an actor but ends up masquarading as a luv guru. The exuberant Bollywood dance sequences alone made that movie worth seeing. And I liked the way it poked fun at romantic comedy cliches even as it exploited them. But this Mike Myers thing just looks awful.

the fail guru
February 28th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
I concur. Awful.
February 28th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
Justin timberlake has the moves to bring in the girls.
February 28th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Oh my god.
oh..my god.
Mike Myers’s gotta eat.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
seeing justin timberlake dressed up like a idiot, is so worth a watch lol
February 28th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Does anybody know who the guy with the hat was? That Myers made fun of about he had one before his mom got a job…
I recognize him but I can’t figure out who it was and where he is from…
February 28th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Seems to be a good movie. I want to see Jessica’s and JT’s acting.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Michael Myers must either hate himself or us. Surely he’s made enough money from Shrek to not have to create drivel like this. Get on that Keith Moon biopic you bastard.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Oooohhh, recycled Austin Powers jokes. Count me….out.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:10 pm
OMG the suckage, so much suckage together!!!!1
February 28th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
oh my god. I thought this would suck, but that trailer just proved that it may turn out to be the WORST MOVIE EVER!!!
February 28th, 2008 at 6:14 pm
FINALLY a movie shot in Canada that actually takes place here!
and as much as I consider myself to have an above-average film intelligence, this one had some good laughs [and some bad bits]
1. His Indian accent isn’t annoying and/or degrading
2. Great cast, esp. the supporting characters
3. Justin Timberlake is a great actor, even for comedy, but I think that might not have been the best clip from this flick
February 28th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
this movie looks rubbish and pathetic. I can’t stand how this film mocks Indian culture and Indian people. Mike Meyers needs to stop making movies.

February 28th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
The guy in the hat is Daniel Tosh a comedian, This movie could be horrible but will just be medicore.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
Okay, so let me get this straight:
1. The guru character was originally in “The Spy Who Shagged Me,” but was written out of the script during revisions.
2. The plot has been stolen from an episode of The Simpsons last season when Homer and Marge become marriage counselors to a minor league baseball player.
3. Mike Meyers is still milking the lame “oops– double entendre that blatantly points out why you’re different than me” gag. ['shrimp?]
4. People are still amused by Vern Troyer.
How can this fail?
Looks like the Epic Movie crowd finally has something to look forward to. At least we’re spared Meyer’s stupid fake-Scottish accent…
You couldn’t force me to watch this movie even if you threatened to tell the police where I buried all those dead prostitutes.
Oh, and Dan: I can’t believe you’d say Meyers has to eat. Trust me, he’s eating just fine thanks to the Shrek series. That is no excuse for this “movie”.
February 28th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
No Thanks. Let ‘em starve.
February 28th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
im prepared for what you guys will throw my way…but i didn’t think it looked THAT bad. i wont be there opening night, but a matinee or dvd might be good for some laughs. maybe? i hope? hrmm
February 28th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
The Mike Myers formula for comedy:
1. Silly accent.
2. Actually, that’s it. Now go out and make ‘em laugh!
February 28th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Accent? He had an accent? :P
February 28th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Too bad the Maple Leafs didn’t hire him to make some player trades, that draft was a joke…. Sorry, bitter GTAer here…
February 28th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
“3. Justin Timberlake is a great actor, even for comedy”
What.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
This looks really lame, but I did smile at two parts.
“You are a midget”
and the boner ding.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Wow. What crap.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Here’s my biggest problem with this movie. He’s hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs, then the trailer says “he’s coming to America.” The geography doesn’t quite add up…
February 28th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
You would think some random crew person involved in this movie (the lighting guy or the craft service girl) would have intervened and told the director and stars how truly awful of a film they were in the process of making.
The only good thing about that was Daniel Tosh who is exceptional.
This movie will bomb because Jessica Alba is in it and that’s just what her movies do.
February 28th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
ha, I was about to post that the only person I cared for in the film is Daniel Tosh.
February 28th, 2008 at 11:27 pm
mike myers looks like osho and that’s the only funny thing in this trailer
February 29th, 2008 at 12:38 am
this movie looks like it has be torn from austin powers and family guy… the ding in his pants, come on.
good luck getting anything of quality from that.
February 29th, 2008 at 1:12 am
The really sad thing is that the Toronto Maple Leafs probably paid to be in this.
February 29th, 2008 at 2:38 am
“the trailer says “he’s coming to America.†The geography doesn’t quite add up”
though it might sound confusing, it’s accurate, and Canada is still in North America
February 29th, 2008 at 5:23 am
this movie looks terrible but people will go watch it and then they will make 2 sequels. I’m starting to really dislike Jessica Alba, she isn’t funny and is only put into these movies because she is attractive. Get Smart comes out that week so go watch that, I will be.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:52 am
This looks about as funny as Meyer’s tour de faile “The Cat in the Hat.”
I smiled at a few parts, but no laughs. Plus, I only heard his accent about half the time. WTF?
It really just looks like Austin Powers with a beard, I’m sure the jokes will be as blatantly sexual and the characters as patently ridiculous. This is Meyers trying to ride out the rest of the Austin Powers wave, as he has been trying to do since Austin Powers. He could have reinvented himself like many other stars of comedy, but he chooses to stick to one style, which is his major failure.
On another note, I really love Jessica Alba but I’m starting to lose my affliction for her acting with each new idiotic role she takes.
February 29th, 2008 at 8:11 am
Mike is a funny guy, why the hell is he doing crap like this for?
February 29th, 2008 at 10:36 am
“midget jokes= goldmember mole jokes”
“i didnt hear anything= That’s not mine”
um, mini-me troyer and beyonce music?
um why was this not titled austin powers 4?
oh, i forgot. that’s coming next.
an unofficial non-austinpowers movie about austin powers jokes.
this movie officially makes myers a hack.
February 29th, 2008 at 10:46 am
The Leafs with a chance to win the Stanley Cup? Oh wait, it’s a comedy. Never mind.
February 29th, 2008 at 11:55 am
What is with the mob of angry villagers commenting here? This trailer isn’t that bad! It looks very funny!
Of course, although we can have 300 succesful movies a year filmed in Toronto, if you actually base a movie in Canada, it’s box office poison. And/or, everyone in the film will be dead and broke by the end, living in the prairies without crops or a town.
February 29th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
Blech, this trailer makes the movie look awful. Though I’ve been uninterested in this project since the casting of Alba and Timberlake. Who, btw, looks awful in this bit trailer appearance.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
It just looks really, really bad. In a particularly bad sign, the director has never helmed his own film, but was a 2nd unit/crew guy on the other 3 Austin Powers movies. With no leashing from a respected director, this has total mug-fest written all over it.
February 29th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
This movie does not have one redeeming feature. It’s not witty, clever, or entertaining in the slightest. Recycled jokes (Austin Powers), recycled plot (The Guru).
Like Tyra Banks says, if you’re going to borrow someone’s idea, you better own it and do it 110% better. This does not do that. This movie looks like someone filled in a Mad Libs and decided to turn it into a film on a dare.
P.S. Justin! You had cool points from your great Superbowl Commercial! Your ex-girlfriend’s career is circling the drain like yesterday’s garbage. Why?
P.P.S. Daniel Tosh! You get one screw up. You’re riding that fine line between funny and Dane Cook. Do not go over to the Dark Side by making shite movies.
February 29th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
P.S. Justin! You had cool points from your great Superbowl Commercial! Your ex-girlfriend’s career is circling the drain like yesterday’s garbage. Why?
what does his ex gf’s career have to do with his lame movie roles and acting skills?
February 29th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
What are your freakin’ problems? The trailer doesn’t look that bad at all, and I will always count on Myers to make something funny.
You guys need to either lighten up or go try to make your own movies.

I was on set for this for many many days during the hockey scenes. They aren’t the real maple leafs, but there were 3 ex-nhl’ers. I’m really looking forward to seeing this because i was in it. Made tons of friends from the shoot and we’re planning on going all together just to watch ourselves! hahaha…. too bad i’m not in the trailer, but a few of my friends are! ;)
March 3rd, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Justin Timberlake is the goalie of the LA Kings. His name is Joque Grande.
And Pennylane i was on set with you during the hockey game shoots at the ACC and in Oshawa.
I hope it’s good! I can’t wait to see it.
March 10th, 2008 at 10:56 am
Well, at least now Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman can say that they weren’t in the worst movie ever made.
March 11th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
That was pathetic. I like comedy but not this. This made me think of Austin Powers which after the first one was 2 too many. Justine’s imitation of a french guy nauseating. Should actually meet one before mimicing one.
March 13th, 2008 at 10:58 am
First off, for those with even the slightest knowledge of Mike Myers’ comedy, you know what this movie will be like. So, to think it would contain some sort of high-brow humour is, pun intended, completely laughable. Those of you comparing it to Austin Powers are correct, but at the core that is Mike’s humour.
Second of all, Myers hasn’t made this film to be a box-office smash (obviously), he has made it for one simple reason - Toronto. He has never held back his feelings for Toronto, and making this film will provide many with the closest thing they will ever see to a Stanely Cup game in the city, myself included. To say that basing a movie in Toronto is box-office poison is not untrue, but simply not a valid response to this trailer. It is completely obvious that a box office haul is not this film’s priorities.
Bash it all you want, but bash it after you’ve seen the film - you all knew of Myers’ comedy before watching this trailer.
March 13th, 2008 at 11:41 am
Clint’s right. We can’t bash what we haven’t seen.
Maybe it’s just the trailer that blows goats (to use another Myer-ism) and the movie is actually great!
And maybe monkeys will fly out of my butt (to use yet another Myer-ism).
April 1st, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Sure … Mike Myers has a certain style that he brings to each of his movies .. so does jim Carey, Will Ferrell and every other actor. I just happen to love comedy, and these guys are up there with the best. I’ll be watching this for sure. Looks like good simple fun, and will definately bring lots of smiles :)
April 9th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Anything by Mike Myers is worth watching. That boner ding was hiarious. Jessica is still smokin’!!!!

It’s all been down hill since So I Married an Axe Murderer. I think this looks plain horrible.
May 16th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
i saw the trailer and i can’t hardly wait to see the movie , i am a huge Mike Myers fan , his appoach to humor is impecable . whenever you negative viewers gross hundreds of millions of dollars in the production of your own movies , i’ll be glad to attempt to see your point of view ….. go Mikey …
June 12th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
As a huge fan of the leafs, i can`t wait to see this film and dream of winning the cup
June 16th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
well, i guess it’s still true that the yanks just can’t do good comedy - JOKING! but talk about labouring a point. so, yes - austin powers WAS good, and mike myers is a great talent, but - ENOUGH ALREADY. unfortunately after the success of films like powers, anchorman, etc etc, a conveyerbelt production line of copycat mediore tosh has sprung-up, inevitably i suppose, with every tom dick and harry thinking that they have the perfect storyline for another ‘zany’ comedy cash-cow. and the same old rule applies - when, with the first offering(s) we might have been surprised and delighted - now ,the same joke told again and again has worn a little thin. it’s just economics i guess, and soon enough another film-making fashion will pop-up, only to be flogged to death. i agree that ZOHAN was pretty PANTS, and feel a little soiled to have actually have gone to see an adam sandler movie (the shame!) never mond - shall save this one for DVD. anyone see DEATH AT A FUNERAL, by the way? proper english humour……….
June 25th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
was looking forward to it. it was horrible.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Saw this movie last night. Great for some funny one-liners and not having to think about anything. Just what I was looking for. Now I can’t stop greeting everyone I see with “Mariska Hargitay!”
June 28th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
I like Mike Myers but, this is move stinks! You can see the joke punchlines coming from a mile away. Or should I say “Punch Lines”, “Punch Lines”, Punchlines. Sorry my friend. Go back to the writing table and spend more than a couple of hours to write a movie. I’ll be waiting but, not holdinjg my breath.
June 29th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
how about watching the movie before panning it… if anything mike m is unpredictable.
just my two bits - have fun, dot your eyes.
