Production on the big screen adaptation of Watchmen has officially wrapped, and director Zack Snyder has posted a new still from the upcoming film. I’ve decided to put together a look at the evolution of one frame from the comic book, the the storyboard to the screen. Enjoy.

This is one movie that i cant wait for, but is slowly putting down my worries for it.

This is going to be a great film- and I know that the whole Watchmen story will not be in it, but I trust in Zach Snyder’s abilities.

He did the right thing in sticking to the Cold War backdrop instead of playing smartass and changing it to fit our times.
It’ll be visually stunning at the least.

ive heard rumors that the dvd will include ‘the black freighter’ as anime, and ‘behind the mask’ as an old school style documentary! this will be an overall fun & successful film, i hope someday Moore watches it, but i totally respect his stance.

That looks amazing! When I first saw the still, I couldn’t remember if that happened in the novel or not. Thanks for the side-by-side. Rorschach kills so many people I’ve lost track since the last time I read it.

I think it should be noted that the guy being flamed could very well be Zack Snyder, who stated in an interview that he was going to cameo in his own film as a SWAT member.

Ace, he will “never” ever endorse any film. Whether it’s good or not. That guy has had a stick up his as about this whole thing for a while. He should have been proactive like Frank Miller was with Sin City.
Snyder invited him to be on it and never heard anything from his side.

The still is amazing looking…very crisp, clean, and Rorschach just looks OUTSTANDING!
As for Moore, he’s not going to endorse the flick, no matter how true to the source material Snyder is able to get it. Alan Moore doesn’t see cinema as being a viable “art form” and that there are so many things missed in film that can be shown in literature, specifically in graphic novels. I can partially agree with him on that, and in particular with Watchmen. Frame by frame, there is a LOT going on in there that is just difficult to bring into film. Little details here and there, subtleties in the character’s face…but I have confidence that Snyder can’t screw this one up.
Hell…he can’t end up doing HALF as bad as Norrington did with League and McTiegue did with V!!!
