What is Aladygma?
Is it the code name for a yet-to-be-announced JJ Abrams-produced film project?
Is it the code name for the expected Cloverfield sequel? Chances are it is none of the above. Everyone in Hollywood has no idea what I’m talking about when I bring up “Aladygma”.
And chances are it has absolutely nothing to do with a Cloverfield sequel, as I’m told that the project is currently dead at the moment (this could always change). If anything, “Aladygma” is either an internal codename used within Bad Robot or chances are, it’s a fan created code name that somehow slipped into the news reports of the online film media.
If anyone knows anything about “Aladygma” or any other JJ Abrams project, please mat.

I think a Cloverfield sequel is a bad idea. I loved the movie just as it is. A lot of people I know didn’t like the fact that it didn’t explain the monster. I thought that was a good idea. I mean, if you were in that situation, do you really think you would have enough time to sit down and go, “Oh, this is where it came from..” No you would be running for your life, trying not to get eaten. Also, I doubt that the military would just openly tell everyone in the city what was going on, its super-duper top secret, like area 51. I think that if they tried to make another movie, they would ruin the whole feel of the first one. But, thats just my opinion.

good lord……i really think alot of people have forgotten what the movie is and that is a fresh take on the monster movies from the 50’s and 60’s. i just saw cloverfield and i was completely happy with what i saw.
abrams has a vision par none and i think he is a genius the likes cinema and television needed. don’t agree? well you are the one talking about him and/or his products. If he was so bad at what he does or his movie/shows were bad or not worth watching, why are you?
A sequel would be amazing and i have total faith in abrams in delivering an experience. That is the best word for this man’s work. An experience.

My G5 was just stolen so I’d like to see CLOVERFIELD eat the thieves who stole three years of my life.
Aside from that I’d like a continuation of the story giving us more pieces to the puzzel, more information. You’d have to come up with a good reason for the storytelling method of the handheld camera as well as more characters for us to care about.
Or just leave it alone. I don’t know. They’re already doing the manga prequel so why not a sequel to ruin the first one?

I don’t know if it applies, but there is a part of the brain called the amygdala. In the book, Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman says that when we have a fight or flee response (or any kind of emotional overreaction) what’s happening is that we’re shorting past our rational minds to the emotional amygdala.
So maybe “aladygma” is misspelled?

James, from what I understand, the huge drop in box office after the opening weekend probably is to blame. Not to say that a Cloverfield 2 won’t ever happen, it’s just for now the momentum dropped and from what I hear, the project is no longer being actively developed.

Also, I don’t think aladygma.com is real. Think it is fan-made, cause the 11/22/88 thing i took as a date. The only thing I found that happened on November 22, 1988 was the reveal of the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber…doubt that they’ll make a movie about that…uness its a hint at the wonder woman movie(!)…the whole invisible jet? Heh…I’m just kidding myself now…

Everyone is saying that this sounds like a sequel to Cloverfield, but with what proof? Knowing the style of JJ Abrams, (he tends to deal with the mysterious “Mystery Box”), this new project will most likely be something completely unexpected and different from what everyone thinks it will be.

I keep telling my friends that if they were to do a Cloverfield sequel they should a sequel that would contrast the original. Put it in the same place and time just from the military point of view and with more of a traditional movie feel. Stable cameras with more plot.

I know there was a huge drop at the box office after week 1, but through Presidents day, Cloverfield has grossed over $145 million worldwide (domestic and international) and it doesn’t even hit Japan until April.
Add in what’s sure to be very good DVD sales, this movie has been nothing short of a cash cow for Paramount.
I guess I’d be nervous too after such a large drop, but I still think that first weekend was a bit misleading with regards to total receipts…Paramount counted Thursday night grosses and Sunday business was much higher then a regular Sunday due to the MLK holiday on Monday…it had nowhere to go but way down the following weekend.
JJ said he wanted America to have its own iconic monster. I don’t know the exact count of Godzilla movies, but there were several and it became an institution. If Cloverfield remains as a stand-alone movie then there is no chance this would happen.

if i could choose what would be in a cloverfield sequel.. i would like to see 1) the aftermath.. 2) some answers, like maybe in the form of lily finding stuff online or in the news or from the military. 3) maybe a lot of news coverage pieces, with maybe a steadier cam for all the punk ass people that caused the sequel to be put on hold because they can petiition to have beer sold at Six flags so they can get drunk and ride a roller coaster, but they cant bear to watch a shaky cam effect on a movie when they are sober. 4) more clovie ass kickery.

Im split on what I thought of the movie, I followed the viral marketing campaign, and the prospects behind the elusive backstory that was built up was much more interesting to me than the prospects of a mystery monster stomping NYC. If they are able to continue this franchise, I think that could validate this first movie for many viewers.
“Cloverfield” is only the name of the goverment case file, the movie, clearly is only a small glimpse of the story that Abrams and crew created in the viral marketing campaign. I would hope a second movie would jump in a completely different direction from this one, a movie that would expand upon the context of the “Cloverfield” incedent, rather than a silly retelling of the same exact night from military POV.
Imagine the progression of the franchise and overall storyline moving backwards, as the end of the movie hints at when the mysterious object (IE: sattelite fragment) plunges into the ocean. The story behind this movie leaves so many options for continuation, continuation that can still deliver the same thrilling enigma that the first one delivered.
So to me, if they can deliver on a sequel, and build an awesome multi-movie story here, Id be much more enthused and interested by Cloverfield itself

I thought Blair Witch was a great movie, but what added to it was the hype and the depth that the studio put into the films back story. You actually learned more about the events of the film online rather than in the film itself, and if you followed this build up towards the films release it made you appreciate the story(and the ending) that much more.
Then the second film was released. There was no build up, no hype and no depth. It was just a cheap, second rate horror movie that the studio put together to cash in on the success of the first film.
If there’s a Cloverfield sequel, then it’ll most likely be the same case and won’t be a film worth watching.

If any of you had kept up with the viral campaign for Cloverfield, you might have realized that Abrams had every intention of doing a sequel right from the start. This story is just too big for a single movie.
The only reason any mention of a sequel got the green light is because of the box office, as usual. Movies don’t get sequels unless they’re just that good, the story needs it, or the box office was that good.
Fortunately, it was all of the above in this case.

The web has changed!. Now where it said “Follow the white space” it says “Follow the white spaces”. The fonts are almost unreadable unless you look at the page code. The second white space takes you to another page where you can see 211|2008 and a text on its upper-left corner that says Student Thomas Room 211. Amazing!.

Well, I have to say something… In my past post, I give you a photo of a bull decapited. For everyone who doesn’t know: that bull cames from a very old publicity of an alcoholic drink called “osborne”. That bull could be seen in a lot of spanish roads in the past. Now it has been taken out. Well… I think I have a little proof of the posibility that the image actually is part of the viral marketing. The original bull has a… well… “bulk” between his legs… in the image of the decapited bull it doesn’t. Problably censored… I don’t think that anyone thinks in censore “that”.

So, J. Abrahams’ new movie is about 9/11, probably from different points of view such as the hotel’s room and possibly the underground. The word Aladygma being an anagram for Amgydala, which is the center for the fear emotion caused by the event, so, unless there’s an original twist where a monster collides with the twin towers or similar we already know the story.

I’m not sure aladygma relates to cloverfield at all. The aladygma.com site seems to focus on the day after 9/11. “coming soon next day” in boottom right corner. White space links on page to items related to 9/12. The subway map has an address witten on it for the embassy suites on north end with a newspaper behind it dated 9/12/01. Wikipedia 9/11 info states the embassy suites was used as an ems triage the day after 9/11. The chambers st junction circled may have to do with a point a to b journey. And aladygma reversed (amgydala) are groups of neurons in the brain attributed to memory and emotional response. There are also the blog sites of thomas dahlhem’s i study and dany mcdavid’s blog that mentions thomas and sarah. Thomas and dany both claim to be germans who speak bad english. These blogs, however, tend to be more x-file-like in nature. If this is related to cloverfield, i’m curious to see the dots connected.

I mentioned this to a friend that I was showing this to. milo kind of touched on this.
Maybe this is some kind of viral marketing for the new xfiles movie coming out. He said that X-Files has enough of a following, but still, a little mystery and some hints towards the plot of the new movie would be kind of cool.
Or maybe it’s just a really clever rouse by some guy (or guys) who have too much time on the internet who is screwing with us all, and more people just adding there stuff (like the video the venezuelan guy in LA was sending to his family). Anyway, guess we will eventually find out.

Ok , iv checked out this aladygma site , and played around for a bit . im just going to recap whats been posted.
It COULD be Cloverfield 2 , COULD be Blair witch 3, COULD be Alien(s) 5(?)
But on the 00 11 22 88 site , If you click the top corner with out highlighting anything , the numbers in the centre change .
They make 00 11 28 28
But it only happens for a short period , about 20 seconds i think .
During that time period could more hidden buttons appear , leading to More changes?
I havent yet tried , but maybe someone else would find something from my thoughts .

Hey all, i’m just getting caught up on all this strange viral stuff, so bare with me.
but I thought i would point out something that hasnt been said on this post yet; earlier in this post someone points out the new york times paper behind the tunnel map and then another post a picture of the “actual” new york times front page from the same horrible day and said that everything matched up. and yes while it does appear that for the most part they do match up, not everything does. ok %99 is exact, but one glarring, almost too glarring diff is the price of the paper; in the upper right is 75 cents on site picture but the “actual” provided by another poster here says “one doller”. at first i thought, well maybe just a mistake in making up all this viral stuff, but its almost as if it was done on purpose!!! its just too obvious. if you were going to just make a copy and use it for this, why would it be wrong? it cant be, so it had to be done on purpose, some kind of reason behind it.

Well your all wrong, once the whole cloverfield movie came out, many people sterotype any other movies jj abrams created with almost simliar effects.. Aladygma seems like a spooky ghost movie. I thought cloverfield was a good movie, the affects were good all the suspense was worth it.
however, a sequal from another person’s P.O.V would be a good idea, to know what they’ve seen maybe possibly explain certain things.. there is a website that shows something taking an oil rig into the water and spitting pieces back out.. humm makes you wonder wtf is going on.. you know after this first movie made lots of money how can their not be a sequel..
