The official logo for Paramount’s G.I. Joe live-action movie has been found at Toy Fair in New York City. You can take a look at the full banner at MTV or Hisstank. I spent a good half an hour cleaning up the image, so that it looks presentable online. I’m sure Paramount will issue an official digital graphic this week. The official studio plot synopsis follows:
“From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite co-ed GI JOE team, based from it’s headquarters The Pit, deploys the latest in next-gen spy and military equipment to fight crooked arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious COBRA organization from plunging the world into chaos.”
G.I. Joe will invade theaters on August 7th 2009.
Discuss: Are you angry that they didn’t use the classic “Real American Hero” logo?

I could care less about the flick, that’s just a really good photoshop job peter!
February 17th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
No not mad at that, just not sure why they HAD to make sure we knew the team was “Co-ed”. Shrug
February 17th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
I would have preferred it if they had stayed with the original logo, yes. But the updated logo fits more with what they want the story to be.
February 17th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
But is what they want the story to be, what the fans and potential audience want the story to be?
February 17th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I’m still trying to figure out why they’re doing this
February 17th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
This movie is gonna blow Optimus Prime
February 17th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
I’m nostalgic about the old logo, but this one looks all right. I think the usual drive for these things are to update them, make it look all metallic and serious because it’s a movie not a cartoon and that’s what Transformers did, look at all the money they made, and to not to have it scream “American” so it doesn’t alienate a potential international audience.
February 17th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
As long as they don’t mess
with the COBRA logo- it’s cool!!!!
February 18th, 2008 at 8:11 am
Transformers didn’t use the original logo, Batman Begins didn’t use the original logo.
Relax. The logo isn’t even that different from the old Joe logo. Still has the star, still in italics. Just a different font.
I’m more worried about the kid from 3rd Rock as Cobra Commander and leaving in the completely stupid plot twist from the old old leaked script I read in 2004.
February 18th, 2008 at 9:18 am
i am soooo mad they didn’t use “real american hero”!!!!!! argh, i just can’t stand it! there’s no emoticon to describe how i’m feeling. I’m going to complain non-stop while i’m on line to see it opening night.
February 18th, 2008 at 9:57 am
This movie is going to be a pile of crap, you all realize that this film is the hands of the worst director this side of P. Anderson.
Van Helsing / Mummy Series Director: Strike 1 Horrid Cast (Ray Park is the only on that makes sense and his character is silent) Strike 2 Choosing to make the Real AMERICAN heros an elite international force: Strike 3…… You’re out.
I live in California and on a warm breezy day you can catch the sweet smell of s@#$ from Hollywood and its got GIJOE written all over it.

February 18th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
OMG this movie WILL SUCK BALLS. I WANT MY 80’s STYLE CHARACTERS AND A LIST ACTORS WHO WILL NEVER DO THIS MOVIE!!! –Every person on IMDB ever
February 18th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
I agree with you all about this movie. I heard that Snake eyes is going to talk in this movie. I hope all our Military family will boycot this movie I know I am and if Transformers 2 comes out on the same day as this movie I will see Transformer 2. If I talked to anybody who see this film i will try to talk them out of seeing it. This is not fair on us Joe fans. They want to make it like crap so lets treat it as what it is crap of a movie. I love Denise Quaid and Ray Park but i will not bee seeing this movie.

February 19th, 2008 at 2:10 am
LOL @ typical idiotic complainer! As for the logo, it looks good.
February 19th, 2008 at 3:09 am
harhar! “real american heroes”?? if they’re basing that on the ‘muricans performance over the last few years, this movie will be more Team American than GI Joe. Oh, and most of the Joe team is from the rest of the world. You know, that place you’d like to blow up…….
February 19th, 2008 at 4:45 am
“based from it’s headquarters”
What stupid fuck copyeditor doesn’t know the difference between its and it’s?
February 19th, 2008 at 7:21 am
Well you have to admit, it would be hard to pull off esp. after all the budweiser ads. That being said, the producers are obviously taking the safe modernization route with wide appeal, rather than a daring venture into retro to satisfy the fans, I wonder how it will pan out?
February 19th, 2008 at 8:10 am
I FOUND A DJ’S LOGO USING ALMOST THE SAME G.I. JOE LOGO…
http://www.myspace.com/djwillienyc
February 19th, 2008 at 10:12 am
I think they’ve already lost half the battle just making this movie. I have a feeling it’s going to be a street fighter / Mortal Combat hybrid. Horrible acting with sub par fight scenes…
February 19th, 2008 at 10:21 am
SNAKE EYES IS GOING TO TALK????? ReviewIt totally nailed it… they’ve already lost half the battle at least.. more like 3/4
February 19th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
Let’s remember here, GI Joe was a real person and you’re all dishonouring his memory.
February 19th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
The original logo would have been cool, but I don’t think it’s entirely appropriate for a contemporary movie-logo. I think it’s kind of hard to explain. There’s a real difference between toy and cartoon logos and something for a live-action movie.
February 20th, 2008 at 1:45 am
This is the logo from the last 8″ figure line, G.I. Joe Sigma 6. Is this for sure the official logo for the movie?
February 21st, 2008 at 9:14 am
Really cool
February 21st, 2008 at 5:12 pm
I love how so many people are pissing all over a movie based on a property that’s endured 25 years in 3 3/4″ glory and 44 years in 12″ worldwide fandom. Stop your griping for pity’s sake!!! Those of us who have remained faithful to this toyline are beyond stoked to see ‘G.I. Joe’ finally see some light in the tunnel!!!
You only have yourself to blame for not being able to look back on your youth and remember how happy it was to go outside and play all day long……..and fight Cobra and save the entire world right from your back yard…….
And don’t worry, those of us who are still devoted fans won’t snicker and sneer when you pony up the dough to check out the movie!!!
Peace
February 21st, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Faithful? Pssh. More like compromising.
February 21st, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Scarlett is actually right!!!
when i was a kid i wonder if all the mid-20/30 ppl were pissing about the GI Movie and how they killed cobra commander by making him turn into a snake!!
COBRA-lalalallaallalalalalala
February 28th, 2008 at 8:47 am
What are you people so angry about?. I mean all they are doing is turning a great 80’s cartoon into a movie. People sent death threats to Steven Spielberg over the make of Transformers and the movie came out great. seriously I don’ mean to offend anyone but out of all the problems that go on in this world do we really have to nitpick at cartoons being turned into movies I mean come on.
March 4th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
im just gladew they are finally bringing out the movie about time
March 5th, 2008 at 8:00 am
it needs the crimson guard commnaders-the twins, maybe firefly too, oh and some freaky german scientist with nipple straps in a cape for sure working in bioresearch lab with techno kickn(yeah, dr mindbender)…do you guys remember how truly …um, questionable some of the characters and costumes were. re look the dreadnocks….gay biker gang if ever wardrobe were an indicator!!! except maybe zartan…and zarana was pretty punk rock n yummy in that trashy way that she was. on the joe side im pretty sure lady j went both ways(wich ofcourse is hot) and chuckles was a dont ask dont tell poster child. i hope they keep the joe team small and amplify the enemies. if they do spirit i hope they dont make him the walking stereo type the cartoon did, i mean dang dude all he needed was a slot machine. anyway all this blather aside i think the movie stands a chance, and i’ll see it atleast twice if it sucks…i mean transformers ruined most of the faces and many of the personalities of the originals but its a good stand alone giant sentient robot movie….save for the giant ridiculous cube thing, energon anyone? viper6 out…..end transmission
March 18th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Wow no more Red, White and Blue? I’m not a fan of the look but I really didn’t like the JOE’s anyways. I was a Cobra guy.
March 26th, 2008 at 8:27 am
This movies sounds more like a rejected James Bond plot. Maybe COBRA has a giant ray gun that’s causing global warming.
April 1st, 2008 at 5:34 am
who cares about the logo? the moment they created something out of GI JOE, that’s it! I’ve been a fan since I’m 12 (in UK is called Action Force), and now I’m 34! I’ve been waiting for this movie, hopefully they have the following included:
1) the elite crimson guards and their twin boss TOMAX and XAMOT
2) variety of vipers …..
3) copperhead , firefly and the flying junkie, wild weasel
4) battle between snake-eyes vs storm shadow on top a building etc
5) all the way……I can’t list them all here…..
hopefully the special effects are good on this one… :-)
April 13th, 2008 at 10:39 am
Way to start off making a movie by saying you don’t give a crap about the American audience. Hey, lets take a slice of Americana and throw it under the bus.
I am also glad they made the “villain” a Scottish double-crossing arms dealer. We don’t want to offend any arabs, muslims, jews or dictators of any stripe. Just make the bad guy white and everything will be ok in this PC world.
Hollwood wonders why people stop going to movies? This is a perfect example. What next? Make a movie about the USMC and call it Universal Soldiers Marine Corps?
April 13th, 2008 at 11:13 am
um, dude in reference to your idiotic remarks about white guy enemies…cobra wasnt really an islamic extremist group ya know? and detsro isnt exactly a “white guy” i dont think we’ll see him golfing or yachting less its on a moray! white is such a BS title anyway i reject that term and so should every american- italian american, african american, whatever but where did black and white come from? the countries of black and whit-ica? furthermore i dont think americas been brushed under a rug, i think the movie is playing to the worlds need for a global integrated task force, i think it emphasizes the international community. as a service member im excited about the film and a a joe fan of 25 years, i cant wait for it.
oh and if you didnt know, cobra commander is in the movie too(you can pretend hes an arab under his hood if it makes the villians more believable…your a tool).
April 15th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Some big CEO is probably afraid if they use the American flag someone will ban the movie & tell them that its offensive to Muslims or something equally stupid.
April 17th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
Well, they can’t use the original logo since in this movie is making the team global, rather than American. “G.I. Joe = Global International Joint Operating Entity.” I don’t like this idea, nor do I like the casting; aside from Snake Eyes. I am having my doubts on this movie being any good.
April 26th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
I have waited for a live action Joe flick for so long. I collect the toys from the 80’s and have been a huge fan since 1982.
All of us fans know that the casting for the film could have been a little better. There are actors/actresses out there that would have fit certain roles perfectly. But what do I know, I’m just a dedicated Joe fan/film goer.
I hope there isn’t a lot of CG and hopefully the fight scenes are well choreograpghed. I am just so sick of cheesy special effects and sissy fight scenes in film.
I am afriad G.I.J.O.E. will follow this same path.
No matter what they do I will always be a Joe fan.
May 5th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
This movie has diaster written all over it, i wont say that some people have the right to be aggrovated or slightly pissed off. But, you have to admit its been a long time in the comming and its time that this movie be put out there… at least someone is doing it. you have to admit as well, that this movie will make good money: which hollywood is all about =) i’m kinda on the fence with this one so yes, lets see how this pans out.
May 6th, 2008 at 1:09 am
I agreed with dexforget, it’s been a while since good movies comes out, look at transformer, although some changes to the characters like megatron flying instead of a space-gun! look, the movie fellas can’t please everyone, so, I guess while we can still watch our “Dream” toys and cartoons comes alive, that’s already good enough!
June 13th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
I dont know how many times I have to tell all you people out there. WHO CARES ABOUT THIS MOVIE OR ANY OTHER MOVIE. In the end it all goes to DVD and re runs on television. I mean honestly are you all listening to yourselves? Your arguing and debating about a kids toy that I myself loved when I was whats the word? A KID. Get a life you dorks. ALL OF YOU holy man. Who cares about this movie or any other movie EVER MADE. I cant even stomach watching STARWARS anymore its so GAY. Just like every movie out there. Your all getting wet in the pants about a movie? thats SAD. I feel sorry for you all. Look back at some movies like XMEN and even the MATRIX= Who cares its a frikken movie. Its a made up story put to pictures. Just go watch it and even if it does not make sense or is unbelievable just watch it for the fun and experience of going. GET A LIFE. LOSERS.
June 13th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
You know the ones that I hate the most debating about movies are all you real dorks out there. You know: the ones who dress bad, have weird things growing on their skin like a bump or a mole, the ones who collect action figures or memorabilia of the false heroes in their life that they have created for themselves, the ones who think they are cool but in reality they are utterly annoying especially when they wince their way into a conversation and use words such as “Well you know the real reason… blah blah blah and go into this frenetic arm waving, face spitting, pop sipping between chat phase and the ones who….OHHHHH FRAK man I cant stand know it all nerds that think they know it all. I cant stand geeks in general. What losers.
