New Images of The Incredible Hulk

incred-hulk.jpg

These photos of a promo statue for The Incredible Hulk popped up over at Cinematical and were apparently snapped at a toy fair. In what’s probably a clear indicator of the Hulk’s size in this June’s reboot starring Edward Norton, note the lady and decked-out Humvee to the statue’s right (as well as a new poster of sorts). I’ve attached a still from Ang Lee’s The Hulk after the jump for further comparisons. It would seem that TIH’s Hulk has a more youthful, chiseled appearance, with a toned down shade of green skin. To me, Eric Bana’s Hulk always looked grumpy, like he wanted to get home, plop down on the couch and drink a cold one, so I’m liking this one’s aggro-ness a bit more. Of course, he has to move first.

Looks cool, but I like the hair in Ang's better.
  • I dunno. What I liked about Lee's Hulk is that it looked like Eric Bana. This new Hulk doesn't really look like Ed Norton.

Is ILM doing this Hulk too?
  • Clarence Somerset
Nope. ILM got some flack for its work on Hulk - many criticized it as looking fake.

The problem with Norton as Hulk is that his face is slightly long whereas Bana had a squarish face, which suited the Hulk better. We can't have a Hulk with a long chin, can we LOL?

I cannot believe there are so many here think that the hulk in 2003 movie was performance capture given by Eric Bana.

Go watch the dvd and it was director ANG LEE who did all the mocap stuff and the hulk face was actually ang lee's not eric bana's.

That being said i like this hulk more.

This Hulk proves to be much better than the Ang Lee version... Which wasn't The Hulk to begin with... No offense to fans of the original, but it really was terrible. From the cheesy special effects to creative choices. It just did not look like anything in the spirit of The Hulk.

who cares if this one is slightly better then the first.
any hulk is lame as hell.
    any cgi = fail.
  • Kris Carlson
    ethanhedman = wrong

not that I'm crazy about CGI but any CGI come on what is this guy after, a painted green Lou Ferrigno

I will agree with him that any hulk is lame as hell.

    Love Kris

That closer shot of the statue makes the skin look greyish. Maybe its a trick of the light, but the Hulk did start as grey in the comics before becoming the more familiar green. There was also a period in the eighties where he was grey again.

    I hereby say: hmmmmmm.

    don't make him ANGRY,
you won't like HIM when he's angry!!!
  • I liked Ang Lee's Hulk. Also, Bana's Hulk was like Roid Rage gone nuclear: puffy face, short temper, tiny dick, more rage due to tiny dick. It was great. The statue from the toy show looks like a cartoony version of the recent Hulks from the comics. However, I like that Marvel's got the balls to put this one on screen with a different vision, like giving Punisher another shot after the Dolph Lundgren pooch screw.

Dude is that purple hair? He looks like one of the Pointer Sisters. When I look at the close up of his face, it looks like he's singing "I'm so excited."
  • Backlash
The hair is not purple. It's a result of a crappy cell phone camera and phosphorescent lighting. His hair is black.

This Hulk is perfect. The 2003 Hulk used the design from the comics, which was a bad move. Being a 2D character...the comic Hulk is massive with ridiculous proportions, and super green skin. Work well in the comics....looks like crap in live action.

This Hulk is a nice blend between the comics Hulk and the Lou Ferrigno Hulk. His skin is a more subdued green, which helps quite a bit, Although his hands and feet are very large, they are not ridiculously proportioned.

This Hulk bridges the gap between believability and science fiction. He's not just an overgrown human with painted green skin and a bad wig (aka the Ferrigno Hulk)...nor is he the outlandish version we saw in 2003 (aka the comic Hulk.)

Nice work by the designers of this thing....

I think EVERY superhero and comic book fan should be THANKFUL that hollywood has embraced the comic book genre and given us any tangible form of these heroes at all. I completely enjoy ANY form that ANY movie takes when it involves the superheroes of my youth, and my present day imagination. Of course, I want the best movie possible, and it bothers me when they produce concepts that are way off mark, for whatever reasons. The Spiderman movies and the Iron Man movies came real close to the original concepts that ARE the hero. Regardless, I am ALWAYS happy when I see these heroes on the big screen. I don't care how awful the reviews, nor the writing or the acting. I am just happy that I lived long enough to have these fantastical stories light up in front of me.
I could go on and discuss the problems that are so evident or those that others seem to want to make a big deal about, but I enjoy being a fanboy more than I want to disassemble the work or the players involved. Give me cheesy, bad acting, bad writing or great effects, great acting and producing...either way, just give me my heroes over the rest of the nonsense that hollywood seems to be producing these days, and I am resting peaceful in the days of my youth when all there was were the comics and my imagination.
