From TV Guide:
"Cast members like Rex Lee are hearing the HBO comedy will head back into production in March. Lee (who plays Hollywood assistant extraordinaire Lloyd) admits "I'd love to get back to work".

This is in line with the New York Times and other publications that have stated "Entourage" will now be back in Fall 2008 instead of the original pre-strike June 2008.

Some sources have been less commital and stated that the show will return late 2008/early 2009.

Originally, the show was to begin filming around now, so it does not seem too far off the original back to set date.

Considering Doug Ellin and his team has 3-4 pre-strike scripts ready to go, it doesn't seem too hopeful to think they will make a September 2008 return date.

Lets all hope this is true.

UPDATE:

House will now return later in the season with 4-5 new episodes.

Dbunker,

Sci Fi picked up season 1 of Jericho for syndication. There is rumor going around they might keep it alive should CBS dump it but nothing solid.

Kevin,

I have no updated information about Eureka. Late last September there was news that it would return for 13 more episodes late summer of 2008. But that was pre-strike. All I can do is guess at the moment, if they were going to return late in the summer of 08 before the strike MAYBE they will be back late 08(add 3 months of the strike to the schedule as an educated guess).

I will do my best to get real information for you in the next few days.

Best,

Hooper X

Jc,

Some of the information is readily available all over the net. Some of the information comes from sources I have at various studios. Finally, some information comes from contacts on assorted shows. That's about as much as I can cite for you without screwing up my relationships or disclosing my identity.

Name the shows you want confirmation on and I'll see what I can do.

Best,

K8ie,

You make some very valid points. 8 million viewers is a respectable number week to week. However, another point you make about Prison Break being the lead in ties into TSCC's fate. After Monday, TSCC losses it's lead in from PB. I believe there are only 3 new episodes of TSCC after that. I haven't looked into what will be replacing PB a week from Monday but with the cupboard rather bare on established, unaired shows, I would guess that any bump TSCC got from PB will be diminished.(UPDATE, I just looked it up and it looks like it wil have The Moment of Truth as it's lead in). That might provide it the stable lead in it gets with PB, but then again, reality is a whole different audience/beast so who knows?

Here's hoping it gets a full order for this season or picked up for next.

Best,

Hooper X

Also, when TSCC was introduced at the upfronts last year, it wasn't originally scheduled to follow 24. In fact it was scheduled to run Sunday nights after the animation block from 7pm to 9pm. I believe they even mentioned at the time it was going to follow in the footsteps of the X Files..... Yep, I found the schedule from the upfronts here:

http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6443782.html

It was set to run in January on Sundays.

Finally, while it would have been or still could be an important tie-in for the T4 movie, that is so far out and not a Fox property that it likely played/will play little in Fox's decision to renew TSCC. Even if T4 were a Fox movie and TSCC were a Fox production, I have my doubts that they would keep such an expensive show on the air with "decent" ratings for a year just to get tie in opportunities. And since the Terminator franchise is WB that makes it all the more unlikely. And if you don't think this show is exceptionally expensive to produce, think again. And more importantly, if you don't think the cost is passed onto the broadcast network and that it doesn't play a part in the decision to pick this show up, think again.

All that being said, here's the thing.... I like the show. I've seen all 9 episodes and while it's not groundbreaking, it's good and I enjoyed them all. I have nothing against the show, in fact I'd like to see it return. It's far better than more reality or any number of scripted dramas with no viewer awareness that stand a far smaller chance of catching on. I wrote the article to inform everyone of what I knew about the status of the various shows, not to dump on any of them(well ok, maybe Cavemen and Carpoolers). As my report indicated, with the information I have from my sources(industry sources) and what I have read on other sites like the rest of you, I found it "highly unlikely" it would return after it's current run of 9 episodes. But as we all know, things can change and often do. That's why the beginning of my report said everything was subject to change. In TSCC's case, I have no reason to believe I am wrong, as of today. But tomorrow is another day and another chance. If I wind up eating my words, I won't be disappointed. I'll be happy that a decent show will get another chance to catch on and we won't have to worry about Fox filling another hour on their schedule with House repeats, or much worse, more horrible reality television.

"First, it desparately needed it. After the pilot episode which took in about 18 million viewers, it had fallen off to about 8 million viewers for the episode that followed the Super Bowl the next day. That is a HUGE drop."

There's one flaw in your argument - the 18 million viewer premier far out-performed FOX's expectations. It was never meant to do that on a weekly basis - it was commissioned to be paired with 24, which didn't air this season but only average 10.5 million viewers a week last season. Further, TSCC is consistently posting mid-8 million viewers and a 3.4-ish shares in live viewers and coming second in the 18-49 demo - numbers which increase by about 20 per cent when DVR numbers are factored in - and growing out of Prison Break each week. TSCC isn't House but nothing else on Fox's schedule is.

I wouldn't argue that Fox would like to see another million viewers (and so would I) and I agree that TSCC is expensive to produce (but if you notice the car "chases" look more involved than they are) but how much of that is being passed onto Fox from Warners (who have a vested interest in furthering the brand leading up to T4 in 2009 and have already sold the series internationally) is debatable. I don't think it's a slam-dunk but unlike Drive, which UNDERperformed in its premier, scoring only a 2.4 in the demo, I don't think it's "highly unlikely" to be renewed.

HBO has slid back the schedules of two returning series that had been considered for summer runs: “Entourage” and “Big Love.” “Entourage” will appear in the fall, and “Big Love” probably later in the year.

Any word on when It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is coming back? I was surprised to see it left off the list of FX shows. I love the way that they continue to create more and more morally corrupt characters.

This is some bullshit!!! They axed the Sarah Conner Cronicles and Bionic Woman. I vow from now on to never watch another tv show. I am going to do nothing but read books from this day forward. To hell with torpid bastards.

Entourage, Big Love, and Flight will all be back in Fall 2008. They were all supposed to start filming 2 weeks ago, so are not too too far behind with filming. The writers just need time to get together and go over the scripts. These shows were all supposed to be back on in June 2008, so September 2008 is not too far off the mark.
It's too bad that they will now go up against the ABC Sunday night lineup though.
I loved having these shows on in the Summertime. They were decadent, just like Summer.
Oh well, at least we will get new episodes this year.

Yeah FNL was definately one of the most creative shows I have seen. I mean, yeah the murder subplot was way out there, but at the same time I was hooked and wanted to know what would happen to Landry and Tyra. And Landry's emotions and realism are phenomenol. The cast was a young fresh face that many peopel had not seen before, and may never again.

That sucks there are no new episodes left. It was just left kinda out there. I mean no closure no nothing. What really happens with Smash, what about the playoffs, Riggs and Lyla, Saracen's meltdown, Street's kid, do Julie and Matt ever get back together. Usually on a Friday Night I am always out looking for something to go do. This last year [since the move to Fridays] my Friday Nights don't start until 9p when the credits roll. Every time I watched an episode I couldn't wait until the next week. And sure some shows are like that, but not every single episode it has produced.

If this really is the end, it is tragic. God Bless Kevin Reilly for keeping it alive. And I guess I'll wait for more "Lights" when I can pick up the 2nd season DVD.

Dan,

Here's what I found online:

From Kristin @ Eonline -

"What We're Hearing: The crown jewel of the Sci Fi Channel should finish out its fourth and final season, but per writer Jane Espenson, it's almost certain that, schedule-wise, the story will be split into two separate miniseasons. The show completed 14 episodes before the strike hit, and at least the first 10 will air beginning Apr. 4. The second batch could premiere in the fall or even sometime in 2009."

If I can get more inside information I will. You should check Jane Espenson's personal blog too. Just Google her and you will find her site. She does regular/daily updates that might have the answers you are looking for.
