Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden

One of my favorite films of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival is Morgan Spurlock’s follow-up to his hit 2004 documentary Super Size Me. Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden is a documentary on the epic action movie scale. A search for the most wanted man on the planet becomes a nice primer about the middle east and terrorists. Filled with humor and pop culture references, yet packed with insights, Osama is a must see for any voting-age American. An interview we conducted at Sundance with Spurlock will be online hopefully later this week. [read our full review here]

Check out the movie trailer for the film below. I wish they could have done without the very cheesily made computer generated titles. The film has a polish above and beyond any documentary I’ve ever seen, although the trailer would have you think differently.

You can watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo! Movies. Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden will hit theaters later this year (TBA).

Lol, National Treasure spoof and Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiago spoofs. Funny.

Does he just ask random people? Does that work?

I love the song they use.

Gogol Bordello’s “Wunderlust King”, by the way.

Finally, a proper trailer! Another fun Spurlock and co. doc, looks hilarious.

Gogol Bordello is crazy awesome, but don’t you think this movie shows how arrogant us Americans are. It seems like he has gone over there and acted like and acting like an American in a place who’s culture is complete different. Maybe its just the trailer and the movie will be better.

At least! It’s really interesting to see the difference between a well conceived trailer, and the crap they showed some weeks ago…Looks great!

    Thanks Jacobi!

    This looks great. Can’t wait.

Peter, you are the ONLY person I’ve heard of who has seen the movie and liked it, but I think a lot of people feel burned by the crazy pre-screening statements that allude to the idea that Spurlock may have actually FOUND OBL.

I don’t know what I find more annoying about this clown, his name or everything else about him. I say we put him in the thunderdome with Michael Moore…

Cinemaniac: I read a bunch of positive reviews. FilmSchoolRejects highly praised the film. I think a lot of people were turned off with A. the claim of him finding Osama and B. That he covers no huge new ground. The film acts as a great primer, but people would have rather had spurlock chase conspiracy theories

You make a good point Peter, and I admit that I haven’t read all the reviews, specifically FSR’s.

I have no problem with it being a “primer” movie. However, this is not how you generate publicity for a primer:

    From MSNBC:

Rumors are flying that filmmaker Morgan Spurlock of “Super Size Me” fame may have done what the United States government has failed to do for the last six years — find Osama bin Laden.

Adding to the belief, Daniel Marracino, the film’s director of photography, is quoted in Variety, saying of the movie, “We’ve definitely got the Holy Grail.”

I’ve definitely seen this same article several places, which leads me to suspect that much of this is copy/pasted from a press release. I call shenanigans. The only documentary filmmakers allowed to make such boastful claims and then not deliver the goods are the Bigfoot researchers ;).

+1 for their mention of /Film. Entire ‘article’ here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22115291/

Still, I’m fairly new to this community (and I dig the site quite a bit) so I might have to give this one the benefit of the doubt, if only to get a better idea of our similarities/differences in taste. It’s also possible that I’ve been turned off to anything Spurlock after the constant radio/TV spots plugging his FX TV series.

Looks pretty good. Looking forward to seeing it.

Yeah and that one song in it is by the greatest band ever… Gogol Bordello

The clip is too slow because there must be a million users on line, so I found a page where you can watch it fast, opentopix dot com

    Wow I can’t wait for this :D

This guy is an idiot. Definitely won’t be watching this.

    Osama is 7 feet under.

Osama “Strawman” Bin Laden will never be captured. The US Administration don’t want him found. They more than likely know exactly where he is.

If he were to be found and captured, the administration would need to invent a new strawman to keep the fear levels up.

    Wake up america.

Someone needs to make the movie “Where in the World is Osama Obama?” Clearly, we have way too many socially challenged Americans who don’t even remember who Osama Bin Laden is and what he is accused of doing and who are confusing Osama Bin Laden with Barack Obama. This would make for a most interesting movie since all us Americans should be better informed.

The stars of the movie should be Mitt Romney and John McCain. They clearly need an education in personal identification.

Osama has been dead for years. Bhutto even confirmed this last year in a BBC interview which you can find on YouTube.
