Yesterday, Disney registered the domain named for NationalTreasure3DVD.com and NationalTreasure4DVD.com, spawning rumors that Walt Disney Pictures is planning back to back sequels. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets was released 6 weeks ago, and has already earned over $365 million worldwide, already beating the overall take of the original 2004 film. So a sequel seems almost certain.
And now Jim Hill has learned of a brief plot description has been making the rounds “which would supposedly send the Gates family off to Easter Island and beyond in search of Atlantis. More importantly, the pure, clean power source that was supposedly lost forever when this ancient civilization sank beneath the sea. Which — were it to be harnessed today — would immediately put an end to global warming. Not to mention making gas & oil obsolete.” Could this be the information hidden on Page 47 of the President’s book?
But with the writers strike still in full effect, this is all just here-say.

shit, let’s look for this thing in real life!
February 1st, 2008 at 4:34 am
So Atlantis was on page 47? Nnnniiiicccceeee. For some reason, anything about Atlantis attracts me
February 1st, 2008 at 5:50 am
i hated the first. loved the second and suprised myself when I was intrigued by reading this… hmmmmmm
February 1st, 2008 at 6:05 am
Atlantis..sunk in the Mediterranean ocean…diving scenes?
February 1st, 2008 at 8:04 am
Sweet! Love National Treasure just pure entertainment.
February 1st, 2008 at 1:07 pm
I really like National Treasure one and two but is there really a need for more? I am afraid they are just going to wear out their welcome, and slowly sink into the abyss. But on the upside, I trip to atlantis does sound very entertaining.
February 1st, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Anyone kinda feel like the National Treasure series may be this generations Indiana Jones?
February 3rd, 2008 at 4:43 am
I love almost everything about National Treasure and the sequel. I’m not sure about Atlantis though. Am I the only one that loves the fact that they treasure hunt around american history. Atlantis?
February 8th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Atlantis sounds a bit far fetched to me. It sort of breaks from American History. I think they can do better than that!!
February 10th, 2008 at 11:40 am
OMG i really hope there is another NT beacause I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE RILEY POOLE hes soooooooo hot
February 10th, 2008 at 11:40 am
I want there to be another NT becasue i really like Riley Poole
February 10th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
I’m so glad the NT franchise has been successful on round 2. Its family-friendly, historical themes have resonated with the viewing public. Early demand for this film was HUGE - filling up entire theater in small town I was at for Christmas. NOT AN EMPTY SEAT TO BE HAD-SOLD OUT!!!
Ready for NT3!!!!!!
Come back cast - come back Helen!

I think that anything like Atlantis or Fountain of Youth would be a really _bad_ idea for the next movies. I mean, for most of the people, the excitement and the tension of the movies has been that these treasures and clues are almost something, that you could believe. But if they find Atlantis… Hey c’mon, that’s so a myth because the story of Atlantis is not even possible, or that’s what all the latest theories and proof say! A much more better idea would be some Chinese or African treasure or some sunken ship, but I really hope that these writers come up with something really interesting, exciting and suprising :) - and hopefully something that could be more than just a stupid myth!
And I think that three movies would be just perfect, because how many great treasures there can be found? Fourth movie could become a ridicilous flop, and we don’t want that, do we?
March 7th, 2008 at 7:09 am
I rele luuuuuvvvvv National Treasure…It’s truly the Indiana Jones of the New Millenium!
Can’t wait for the third , and possibly the 4th!!
March 10th, 2008 at 6:59 am
Pete (original) said- “Am I the only one that loves the fact that they treasure hunt around american history. Atlantis?”………
i woul;d just like to point out that there are many american legends about atlantis …..most come from groups like the freemasons, rosicrucians, and other “secret societies”..as well as sites in america where egyptian hieroglyphs have been found
March 25th, 2008 at 12:09 am
I love history and this would be a great and the more it is believeable the better it will be!! Ben needs to get married in the third one too!
March 25th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Why not get married at the place they found the next treasure. For the love of love…. let them marry!
April 23rd, 2008 at 9:33 am
If they released a NT3 and 4 tomorrow I’d stand in line
to see them! I think the fact that they integrate the
historical facts with the movie plot makes these so
fascinating that kids get interested and adults go,
“Really? I never knew that!” Saw 1 on DVD saw 2
in the theatre and wish I could have seen 1 in the
theatre. Jerry Bruckheimer hasn’t lost his touch.

when a famous volcano erupted, it imploded on itself and left five small islands. there are also five small islands in the Banda sea where a volcano used to be. The legends and myths originally came from around that area. Atlantis was probably that volcanic island.
May 25th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
This is nothing like Indiana Jones, this treasure excursion was spawned by the Gates’ family history. Ben Gates does it for a reason, and no the first movie did not suck, if you liked the second one, you have no right to hate the first!
May 26th, 2008 at 1:16 am
no one knows what the Knights Templer found. some people say that it was the holy grail.
May 26th, 2008 at 1:21 am
I liked the first one and the second one and I am really looking forward to the third one
May 26th, 2008 at 2:10 am
I believe Atlantis was lost in the flood of Noah its obvious Atlantis was lost like all other city’s tribes or town’s so there is a chance of it did happen.
May 26th, 2008 at 2:27 am
I believe that the holy grail couldn’t exist after 2008 years and rot away because it was made out of wood not gold not silver and not bronze, but wood.
Jesus was also a carpenter he could of made all 13 cups or he could of bought them all 13 cups.
And the cup was not special in any way at all!.
May 26th, 2008 at 2:32 am
Do not believe any thing in all 4 Indiana Jones movie’s.
May 26th, 2008 at 2:38 am
I say National Treasure is better than the last Indiana Jones film and alien’s come on.
May 26th, 2008 at 2:41 am
I agree with David about the holy grail, and I think the ark of the covonent would have lost all is significance and powers by now, and the crystal skull doesn’t exist, and there are no such things as magical stones.
May 26th, 2008 at 2:44 am
And i agree with Caleb with every thing except for Atlantis.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:29 am
I agree with David and Caleb
May 29th, 2008 at 12:49 am
Speaking facetiously, why not have the Gates family go in search of the Fountain of Youth…and find Captain Jack Sparrow. This way Disney could combine Pirates and National Treasure franchises and make sooo much more money.
May 29th, 2008 at 9:48 am
actually, the other volcano was in the Mediterranean sea, and that was where the myths and legends originally came from.
June 1st, 2008 at 6:44 am
Atlantis is not just a stupid myth. And all the latest theories and proof do not say that it is a myth.
June 2nd, 2008 at 7:57 pm
My Mother and older sister have already seen the 2nd movie and they thought it wasn’t as good as the first one, me as a huge fan of both Pirates of the caribbean and National Treasure havn’t seen the second yet but i’ve got the first and got all three of POTC and I know you guys won’t remember or know this but i’m also a big fan of Sailor Moon, Rugrats, cardcaptors,IceAge,Shrek,Pokemon&The Wild Thornberrys, So I’m that biggest fan that I have my own pretend virson when all of these charaters meet and stay together for many Adventures that the story continues with Sailor Moon’s future child mini moon with her own adventures with Rini’s best friend Donkey and their own which i’ve called them the sailor team and I’ve renamed sailor mars’ mortal name to alex because i thought it sounded better and keep dawn’s old name but the rest of the team call her Amalie. anyway, it’s just a my own speaking maybe you guys might love.
June 11th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
personally, i believe the new movie should center around the search for osama bin laden. ben gates can find anything! we need his help to stop terrorism! also, we should combine the plot with mulan…. i love hot chinese chicks and talking dragons. however, eddie murphy really pisses me off.
June 13th, 2008 at 7:00 am
Personally i think a third and fourth and so on can be made of national treasure, so long as they make it believable… I think Nicholas Cage is a great actor and i thought both part one and two was awesome… There are so many mysteries and lost treasure and so on in the world heck they could just keep it coming for years…
June 19th, 2008 at 5:22 am
In the next movie, they could find captain kid’s treasure.
June 21st, 2008 at 9:04 am
I loved both National Treasure movies. They never fail to intrest me no matter how many times I watch them [<and oh boy I have I watched them a lot]. I looking forward to what their planning for 3 and 4 and I hope they keep on going. It’s amazing how they make a movie with so much reality in it. 1 and 2 involves a lot of American history, which I love. I wonder how their going to do the 3rd one and so on……. =)
June 24th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I also loved both movies, and own both DVDs. I was reading wikipedia regarding the whitehouse and there is mention that when the whitehouse was burned down by the british, they ransacked the building and took a lot of treasure and loaded it on a boat to take back but the ship sank at sea…
June 29th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
My kids and I are thrilled that NT3 & 4 are coming out. We can’t wait!
June 29th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
My guess is that National Treasure 3 could be about UFOs and th “extraterrestrial reality”. Could this be the information hidden on Page 47 of the President’s book from part 2? Notice the page number “47″. The “Roswell crash” happened in 1947. Ben (Nick Cage) said in part 2 that the information on page 47 was “life altering”
July 5th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I would love as many Nt’s as possible as long as they stay funny, beliveable and the actors stay!!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait for a 3 and 4 NT
July 7th, 2008 at 6:00 am
I think that Riley Pool is really funny.
July 12th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
Get those writers off strike!! I want more national treasures please!!!
July 13th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
AND I WANT MORE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN AND NATIONAL TREASURE MOVIES!! JACK AND BEN ARE SOOOOOOO AWSOME!!!!!!
July 15th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
i LOVE both of the national treasure movies. But how could they search for something in Atlantis when it’s called ‘national’ treasure. the treasure should be found in the u.s.
although i think the atlantis idea is way cool, i don’t see how that would make sense with the title and past movies….
July 20th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
It was quite obvious that there would be a sequel based on all the referencing to page 47.. Riley mentioned Area 51 a few times in the movie, and I wouldnt be surprised if the plot for the next one revolved around that… It would also be completely different then the first two which i think people would enjoy.. The City of Atlantis is always interesting, but i think it would be a little redundant after the first two.. (lost city of gold, etc..)
something about AREA 51 would be amazing.
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:04 pm
National Treasure was the first movie i saw Nicolas Cage in and i would be pretty excited to see many more in the vary near future.
