The first photos of Will Smith’s costume from this summer’s superhero-pastiche Hancock are here for your eyes. Personally, the trailer for Peter Berg’s film caught my attention in the first place because the character was shown duking it out in mid-air out against highway signs wearing his signature rumpled street clothes. The new garb resembles a futuristic-biker’s, especially with the majestic bird on the back. That’s not a criticism, though. You know, I can’t pin it down, but this costume reminds me of one in another film, possibly from the ’80s. Anyone care to fill in my memory on this happy Monday?

I don’t think it’s Mystery Men, however good guess. It might be a mix of X-Men 1, The Wraith, Rick James, Power Rangers, MC Hammer, and Uma’s Kill Bill biker get-up gone purple, and if so, wow.
But I don’t think that’s it.
