In terms of Sound Editing I don’t know why there is even any other nominees aside from Transformers. I know many are saying that There will be Blood should take the award however I disagree as there was barely any sound to edit in that film!!! Transformers on the other hand takes the cake as not only a great film but a great example of how a movie can be transformed( haha) with a exceptional sound editor.

Huh, do they consider the January films of 2008 or not? Cloverfield should definitely be considered for special effects and sound effects. Guess I should see Michael Clayton and Atonement, I didn't know that they would be so highly acclaimed. I literally laughed out loud when I saw Surf's Up on there. Were there really no good animated movies last year? I guess not...it was really cliche and boring to me. It's pretty easy to tell what's going to win in some of these catagories.

I take back and what I said about Greenwood not getting a nod. But skaught, you're right. Zodiac should have had something. At the very least, Best Visual Effects. Watch the 2nd disc on the Directors Cut. It's amazing CG. And I'm not just talking about the buildings in San Francisco.

- Also really excited about the Reitman and Juno nods (but also IMO not wins)
-Would've liked to have had Knightley/McAvoy Nods in Best, but such crowded categories this year!
-Diggin' the Depp nod for best actor. Incredible performance in that film.
-Wanted to see Helena Bonham Carter nod in best supporting

-Any major snubs anyone can see? I think they've done a great job with the picks this year

some big suprises for me: 1 - cannot believe Reitman was nominated! wasn't expecting that, good for him and all the Juno nods, even though IMO they don't deserve the wins, but definately the nods. 2 - im glad that american gangster didn't clutter up the major categories - good film, NOT award worthy. 3 - stoked that Transformers earned the nods that it did. that movie deserved recognition in those categories, wether you love or hate Bay, the movie made leaps in the film/computer/effects realm. 4 - DDL, PTA, & TWBB all the way!!!! (bummer about the Greenwood disqualification, but i guess if those are the rules...)
