That joey guy is right. The monster is not the thing that fell in the water. The whole story is a lot more complex. The thing that fell in the water is a piece of a satellite. You can read a fake article about it on the a fake ad website for the movie of a japanese drilling company. This website was part of the viral marketing for the film. along with slusho.com. All these websites are interconnected and have something to do with the cloverfield monster.

Cloverfield rocked but it dosen't explain much. You can see the monster fall into the ocean in the final scene maybe 1/2inch from the sail boat.

It's not a military expirement, it's not the thing that fell in the water, some one that worked on it said himself that the monster was there for thousands of years, and the satelite that fell from the sky woke it up, and he also said that the monster is just a baby, that is irritable that he just woke up, so imagine what an adult would look like.

i agree,
i think it was a military experiment because how else did the entire military respond so quickly to the attacks,
only hours later the entire military: infantry tanks planes etc was on site
this was probably planned
finally does any know about the rumors of making a second one from a different view?

I was thinking the same thing. I can't imagine what mom and dad would look like. The object that hit the water didn't appear to have a smoke trail behind it so I dunno how it could have fallen from space, gone through the atmosphere and never gotten hot maybe it was some sort of foreign military experiment and dropped out of a plane or something.

Loved the movie thought it was very well done fairly unpredictable. I noticed the splash watching it on DVD the 2nd time and what I found most interesting was the irony of the last scene of the movie being the very begginnig of the whole event. If that was a confused desperate baby I can't wait to see one fully grown, how cool would that be?

I have seen the movie a few times now that the DVD is out. I love the concept and how "real" they made the situations the actors were in. I finally managed to see the thing drop in the water and I think it is an egg from space of some sort. Since the video from the train was a month and 3 days before the attack, that timeframe may have been the eggs "incubation period" under the water. I think the point is also reflected in the "making of" special feature on the DVD when the director refers to the monster as "a confused, desperate baby"

Yeah I spotted it the first time I watched it I thought what was that that hit the water... a meteorite?

si U re-wound it n saw it properly and I think it was like the monster hit earth as an egg and it took monthes for it to hatch.

maybe it took a month to fully form?
you know? kinda like how a baby takes nine months to make instead of just popping out right when the sperm meets the egg...
that's probably a weird way to put it
but thats what i had in mind

Anyone else notice that they are reviewing the video and it is labled something close to

"Evidence of *Operation* Cloverfield" sounds a little like the government run operation to me, but on the other hand it would be hard to fit that in with something falling from the sky..

My friend also pointed out that there are probably two monsters.. I didn't notice, but he said the water one and one in the street seem very different.

it would be a great marketing scheme if they market the DVD to have ADDED material or something, like news broadcasts that answer questions, and maybe some new angles of the clovie. and then the sequal can be how we defeat or are defeated by it

yeah i know. theRe has barely been any sequals. its a curse. but i think it wiLL do good if they keep the concept going. a different view but the same day. ++ maybe they could show them taking video footage of the after affects of the mayhem ++ perhaps explaining along the way some of what people thought was missing. unless the dvd wiLL fill the holes (altho i didn't find any) iN the story.

i am scared for it, because i want it to be as good at least, but you know how sequels go.. only some of them do a good job.
