Casting announcements were supposed to be made more than a month ago, is Justice League delayed? Rumor has it that the start date has been pushed back from March to April/May or even possibly as late as July, this according to IESB. The site the studio’s concerns with the cast of unknowns as the main reason for the delay. But this sounds awfully strange to me.
I’ve also heard rumblings about production delays, but I’ve always gotten the impression it had more to do with the script (with the writers strike in full effect, rewrites are an impossibility). Who knows. One thing is for sure, a Justice League of America movie could be huge if done right. And by done right, bigger names need to be hired for these roles. I’m also not the only one hesitant with the age-range of the Teen Titan cast. Has Warner Bros not learned anything from Batman Begins?

I hope they use the delay to recast the movie. Studio flacks are always depreciating complaints of the fans, saying we want A-listers in every role and how that is so financially impossible and blah blah. But that isn’t true. Most reasonable fans want or could be reconciled to an affordable B-LIST cast. Like Bale was before Batman Begins. He was a known quantity, that had been in a lot of smaller movies and roles. He had a small, but devoted fan base, and the entertainment press had a generally favorable view of him. It isn’t pie in the sky to want the major roles in JLA to be someone like that.
Hopefully Warners will look toward indie films and established tv actors. At one time Josh Duhamel’s name was floated in connection (I think) with Maxwell Lord. That is a perfectly solid and reasonable choice. It’s not the most exciting choice in the world, like my #1 pick - Mel Gibson(!), but it’s a respectable choice nonetheless. Fan could get behind that sort of pick, or at least take a wait and see attitude. Adam Brody isn’t my first pick for Flash, but at least he makes some sort of sense. If everybody around him were a whole lot better it would be less cause for concern.

If they plan to wait that long, this film is over. There will be an actor’s strike starting in June. Thank goodness, this film is practically a goner in that case. Dumb idea, horrible cast…

As long as we are still going to kick around who should or shouldn’t be part of the cast, I originally thought this was pretty good for a cast, though now we know we are only getting 7 members of the league and the Green Lantern is John, not Hal.
Aquaman - Paul Walker
Atom - Ethan Hawke
Batman - Christian Bale
Flash - Scott Speedman
Green Arrow - Matt Damon
Green Lantern - Ben Affleck
Hawkman - Dylan McDermott
Martian Manhunter - Vin Deisel
Superman - Brandon Routh
Wonder Woman - Catherine Zeta-Jones
I’m kind of partial to the old, traditional line up.

Steampunk Justice League!

I didn’t know where else to put this. It’s just so amazing.
Superman’s belt and new \S/ give him a knight-in-shining armor feel. Very appropriate. There are no words for how awesome Hawkgirl’s wings are. Aquaman’s diving suit is funny and clever. Wonder Woman is stately and lady-like, while still looking ready for a bit of fisticuffs. Batman is tubby, but solid, in the mold of those old prize fighters. None of that ninja stuff here. It’s all fists to the face.

My opinion on your Dream Cast, most of your cast choice are completely innapropriate (Try not to pick every A-List actor you can think of)
Aquaman - Paul Walker (Seems to old now to be Aquaman)
Atom - Ethan Hawke (Not from original JLA)
Batman - Christian Bale (Only actor i agree with)
Flash - Scott Speedman (The Flash is young and cheeky)
Green Arrow - Matt Damon (Shocking choice for a role, no thanks)
Green Lantern - Ben Affleck (Are you kidding me? Lantern is black)
Hawkman - Dylan McDermott (Not from original JLA)
Martian Manhunter - Vin Deisel (He’s short and doesn’t fit the role)
Superman - Brandon Routh (I’d prefer Tom Welling)
Wonder Woman - Catherine Zeta-Jones (Megan Gale/Jessica Biel)

I think I stand on the outside looking in as a age old Fawcet fan of Captain Marvel who wants to see Brandon Molale in that role. With that said and having little to do with the Justice League I’ve said my piece. If they ever do the JLA film I see Brandon Routh as Superman , Christian Bale as Batman and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman. The rest can be up for grabs.
