Semi-Pro Red Band Movie Trailer

Semi-Pro Red Band Movie Trailer

New Line has released a new Red Band (read: R-Rated or uncensored) movie trailer for Will Ferrell’s upcoming comedy Semi-Pro, and it actually makes the movie look funny (unlike every piece of advertising that has come before it). Walk Hard suffered from the same problem. Most people were turned off by the film’s advertising. The Red Band trailer was funny but very few people saw it, and even fewer bought a ticket to Dewey Cox this weekend, which is a shame. But Will Ferrell is a much more viable as a comedy star, and this film shouldn’t have problem doing business. Watch the new Semi-Pro Red Band Trailer below.

IGN has a new poster from Semi-Pro, which can be seen below.

Semi-Pro Poster

Semi-Pro hits theaters on February 29th 2008.

Director: Kent Alterman
Starring: Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, Andre Benjamin, Maura Tierney, Will Arnett, Andy Richter, Rob Corddry, DeRay Davis, Josh Braaten, Jay Phillips, and Jackie Earle Haley
Official Plot Synopsis: Will Ferrell stars in Semi-Pro, an outrageous comedy set in 1976 against the backdrop of the maverick ABA – a fast-paced, wild and crazy basketball league that rivaled the NBA and made a name for itself with innovations like the three-point shot and slam dunk contest. Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who used the profits from the success of his chart-topping song “Love Me Sexy” to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team. But Moon’s franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics, is the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If they want to survive, Jackie and the Tropics must now do the seemingly impossible – win.

Argh...Not another Will Ferrell movie. Am i the only person that cant stand that guy anymore? His characters always lack any depth...He basically plays the same character in all his movies IMO. I don't even think he's that funny...

I agree with Trebek. I hate Ferrel! The only Ferrel's film I enjoyed was Stranger Than Fiction.

For some reason, I didn't realize that Semi-Pro was R-rated. It's good to see Ferrell givin' 'er and making some serious raunch with this and the upcoming Step Brothers. America needs all of the R-rated comedy we can handle. This trailer almost plays like a parody of a red-band trailer, with its laundry list of curse words.

Talllladddegggga Nights had some of the best skewering of American class structure and American mindset in quite some time, and it never became fully condescending. I think that film is underrated/overly dismissed by New York critics - there's tons and tons of well written subtext flying around like dongs in that flick. The only Ferrell flicks that were terrible were Blads of Glory and that soccer family flop. I agree that the high-concept pick-a-sport Ferrell flicks are exhausted, but I doubt he'll do more after this.

Ferrell could be brilliant, i agree Stranger than Fiction was probably his best performance to date, but films like Old School in my opinion prove what a capable comedic actor he is - only problem is he continually attaches himself to awful 'b' grade comedies....blades of glory and talladega nights for example
  • Trebek
I dont know about "brilliant"...Yeah he's a capable comedic actor...If all you want is Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell. He has one style of comedy, which i guess in most cases is fine...But it gets old when he puts out a new movie every few months and plays basically the same character (Will Ferrell) in all of them. I know that it probably has a lot to do with the writing and directing too, But i think its mostly that Ferrell just doesn't know how to be anything other than Ferrell.

And what the hell is with putting him in all these sports related films?...I just don't get it...

Jeezuz this movie looks like another winner. I guess you either think he's hilarious or an unfunny jackass, but he's movies rake in cash because they entertain a great many of us. I love shallow characters and potty humor when it's a f*cking comedy.

If you don't agree well then suck my c*ck! I'll kill your family!

this movie looks funny. the rated trailer looked funny, but this shows you what you are getting. why let somebody else take all the sports movies and make them bad? ferrell is doing fun stuff when he does sports movies. talladega nights was good the first time, but now it sucks. blades of glory is funny, but jon heder isn't funny. kicking and screaming is hilarious.

i used to think will ferrell was funnier, but i'll still go see his movies, even just for that first time when all the jokes are new, because it's worth it.

Well this movie looks lame.... but I said the same thing about Dewey Cox as well, but I went and saw that this weekend and dang man... I dont remember a time I wasnt wanting to be rolling on the ground....it was constantly funny.

As for Ferrel I like his brand of comedy... Sure Blades of Glory sucked. Kicking and Screaming sucked. but really Talledegga Nights was flippin' funny man. But the best movie he's ever done was also his cleanest.... ELF!!! I mean it's gotta say something about movies... we don't need a dirty movie that says "cock sucker" all the time. We need real funny comedy [eg. ferrel in an elf costume]

You guys need to lighten up!!! It's a comedy. You're acting as if the movie is going to be nominated for an academy award. Ferrell's movies aren't supposed to provide depth, their purpose is to enhance my high. If i don't see every Will Ferrell movie stoned , I have failed my life's purpose... except Bewitched. Will Ferrell made blades of Glory and Old School hilarious.
