Ok either he was trying to be funny to say "no one really ever knows the plot of Star Trek."….or…."To go where no man has gone before." meaning the outer reaches of space or the eternal question "are we alone in this universe"…..OR…maybe the plot is in the new star trek movie!!! 0.0 !!!!!
Probably not…but my money is on aliens. Sure it may be cheesy after what happened to Indy…but we all know hollywood producers.

This doesn't make sense since Area 51 is in the Book of Secrets. Besides, the President surely knew what was on the page since he knew the codes to its location.

Maybe Page 47 tells the location of Amelia Earhart and where all the disappearances in the Burmuda Triangle.

Since Ben Gates is an explorer, maybe Page 47 describes a "paradise" community within the earth, as in "Journey to the Center of the Earth."

Area 51 makes no sense at all. The president's book already is supposed to contain all of that kind of information as Reily states earlier in the movie. "All of our nations secrets" to be exact. What, the President of the US has to hire a treasure hunter to find out what really happen at Rosewell when he first is the PRESIDENT and second he has a book with that already in it.
Mayans and 2012 no doubt.

I think it is obvious that the next film will be in search of the fountain of youth. If you consider what Benjamin Gates says at the end of the film and take it literally he says, “It is life altering” or “Life changing” (i dont remember the exact line). Meaning it could change or alter our lives. Not something in our lives but our lives themselves–i.e. the extent to which we live our lives. The fountain of youth would do this and the President will ask him to find it. In the end Benjamin will probably find the fountain and realize that it needs to be either kept in secret or destroyed. That is my prediction….

Just a minute! I am a new comer to this site, and just saw the movie recently. But it seems to me that the President asked Ben to take a look at page 47…Humm here is my thought. It CANT be any of the conspiracy theories that are out now a days, but how about something relating to George Washington??? Remember, Ben said to the President, that he knew the Pres was a big Washington history buff, and great admirer of the first president. How about page 47 being about some secret about Washington that was alluded to on page 47, but never proven or researched. Something about the formation of this country and Washington’s real role in it, or lack of role. Or maybe something in Washington’s past. That would truly be life altering. At least “American Life” altering. I am not saying that they should defame Washington, but they could play with this scenario without tarnishing Washington’s name or contribution to this country, maybe they could use this idea in such a way that it actually increases his contributions.
To me that would be awesome story crafting, as well as excellent use of literary devices such as foreshadowing. Great writing just doesn’t happen, great writing is truly an art form which is crafted through the use of great literary techniques. After all, the creators of these techniques also created some of the greatest literature in the history of the world.

Here’s the thing, sure the fountain of youth and everything would be cool, but Jerry Bruckheimer produces both National Treasure and the Pirates of the Caribean, and he is way to smart to use the fountain of youth in both of his movies, because that’s what Jack’s new map for was at the end of the third movie and the are doing three more!

Just a question that I’m not sure has been addressed. The president told Gates to look at 47. He already knew what was on it because if he didn’t all he had to do was go read it for himself (after all it is the President’s Book). So I guess he wanted Gates take on the clues offered there. The Beal Treasure comes to mind not sure if it’s big enough to compare to treasures I and II although it also had a tie to the Declaration of Independents. It has two unsolved ciphers (sets of clues). It also occured in early 1800’s but again not sure if its big enough. There are numerous lost mines ( None that big however). The lost treasury of the CSA but that doesn’t fit the time line as far as location of page 47. Even so that wasn’t that much either. None of which are life altering.
The bottom line here is that the president knew the contents of page 47 but maybe not its meaning.

That would make for interesting little story ^^DrAgOn^^, Archible mentioned that earlier as well… especially since Joseph Smith, was initiated into the Masonic Brotherhood March 15, 1842, only to be passed and raised to the rank of a Master Mason the next day. He also used a masonic plea the day he died… “..is there no help for the widow’s son?…” Widdow’s son referring to Hiram Abiff, who is a character in a play that is performed in the 3rd Degree of Masonry (the Master level which Joseph Smith was raised to). Hiram is said to be King Solomon’s head architect who is murdered by 3 men. The connection is definitely able to be made to the Masonic Traditions through Joseph Smith.

I have a comment on this ongoing discussion about page 47, someone stated it might have something to do with the Mormon’s of the 1800’s i believe. Somewhere in my past while in the US Navy, I met a Mormon priest, he stated to me in a discussion one late night something about a person named Moroni, i believe it was, and a discovered book of gold and platinum tablets, which is said to be in Utah, but were found somewhere in the mountains along the east coast of the USA. This Moroni was said to be a prophet who was commanded to find these gold and platinum tablets and they possessed the word of the arrisen Jesus Christ. There is also a tie in of the mormons and the native american indians somewhere in the history of the Mormon religion and their beliefs that the Son of God came to the americas and visited with these two tribes here in the americas and they were said to claim their decendancy from the lost tribes of israel. which would be one life altering discovery! What if those lost tribes proved to be the native americans of the american continents?????

Director Jon Turteltaub was asked in the press interview “Have you written yourself in the corner with this page 47?” Turteltaub’s response is that the page 47 idea isn’t set in stone as the basis for National Treasure 3.

Well I enjoyed looking at all of the ideas…and I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this or not, but the presidents book has to be in some type of order by year, if you watch the movie, Ben (Cage) opens the book, puts on his glasses, picks up the book and starts to flip pages starting in the back to the front. So whenever Riley is saying, Area 51, or Kennedy assassination, Ben is turning the pages from back to front. Then they finally get to where the Queen Victoria and Gold City stuff start. So the book is in order by year.

I saw references to a potential storyline for the LOST COLONY OF ROANOKE…and just had to clarify something. The lost colony was on the coast of what is now North Carolina (the Outer Banks), but was part of Virginia in the 1600’s. Therefore, it’s Roanoke Island, NC.
NOT Roanoke, Virginia (which is far, far away from the ocean and not a logical place for a colony back then).

With that said, I think that would be a cool idea for a storyline, although it’s certainly not “life-altering” unless they make up a bunch of stuff to go along with it and add some sort of treasure at the end…which is what the other two have done so it may not be a stretch!
