In National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Nicolas Cage’s character Ben Gates is after the President of the United States’ book of secrets, an unofficial book which contains the answers for the biggest coverups in American history. In addition to his mission to restore his family’s name, Gates is advised by the President of the United States to “read Page 47″. And of course, the information which is contained on Page 47 is never revealed, setting up a possible third film. Someone posed the question to director Jon Turteltaub at the film’s press day, and here is his answer:
“I’ll tell you, what is on page 47 is I think the single greatest secret in America today… which is… the plot of Star Trek.”

I posit that page 47 contains directions to the FOUNTAIN of youth, and that a former president, (perhaps Harvey Keitel’s character because Gates states that he knows a lot about “the book” for just being an FBI agent) has perhaps already found it. That would definitely be “life altering.”

So i did some research. I looked up the number 47 on Wikipedia and i found this:
Joe Menosky, who graduated from Pomona College in 1979 and went on to become one of the story writers of Star Trek: The Next Generation, “infected” other Star Trek writers with it, and as a result the number (or its reverse, 74) occurs in some way or other in almost every episode of this program and its spin-offs Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. The number might be mentioned in the dialogue, appear on a computer screen a character is looking at, or be a substring of a larger number. The number also appears on some of the DVD menu screens for the episodes. They range from extremely obvious (for example, “shields are down to 47%”), to very well hidden.

I think that the fountain of youth would be really cool, but I don’t think that it will be the treasure for a possible third film. The two other treasures have been real objects, gold and artifacts. The fountain of life seems too mythical to be the treasure. Gates is a treasure hunter, that has meant solid artifacts so far. It just seems like too far a leap to have Gates searhing for a mythical object stoked in mystery of a different kind seems a stretch. Where would the connection to American history be? Whatever the outcome I hope they make a third film.

Page 47 needs to be important! I hope the writers do something to top their B average. I do love the fact that this is related to a real ongoing mystery. Although, it does needs to get better. If NT3 wants to return, it’s time to bring in the big guns, pre say. Today, we are at a crossroads. It’s time to get serious!
I do believe N.T. has some real clues for people to think about,
such as; Charolette, and the Statue of Liberty, which also relates to the Book of Revalations.

i believe miriah on this because if you look a most where writers are asked about things like this they drop little hints that dont become evident till the movie comes out which really sucks. but if you think about this, he says that it is the plot of star trek. there are many different plots in star trek TNG, deep space nine, Voyger, etc. all of these have three things in common, exploration of space or any other, the meeting of different spiecies thoughts or ideas, and highly advanced technology. i think that (possibly because i just played the cuotl in Rise of Legends) this either has to do with thehnology past its time back then perhaps not now, or perhaps it will be something about the colonization of America. For example virginia and their dissapearence or perhaps past Lincolns time which leads to many great story plots after all American history has more than 300 years worth

Hmm, all seem to be amazingly good story plots but I agree with what was previously stated! Fountian of Youth is for Pirates, so Jerry wont let them touch that. Atlanits isn’t really american, its more Greek so unless the spin off and make NT3: International Treasure that seems doubtful; however one person did bring up a good point. The first set of settlers in the new world landing in Roanoke Virginia and then disappearing all in one year. “Life-Altering” because it changed the way that settlers had to live, crops, protection, allies so on and so forth. Roanoke for the most part is still a mystery today, I think that would be a great 3rd film, and who knows maybe they can combine it with the Fountian of Youth; which is located in Florida according to Ponce De Leon not the middle East. I believe page 47 is about the Roswell crash from 1947 (or a previous possibly ancient crash). Life altering because it reveals we are not alone in the universe and contains technology that mankind could benefit from. But the craft was covered up and hidden by who ever it was found by because they felt people were not prepared for such a thing.
Info about the crash was hidden away from even our government by Dwight D. Eisenhower who feared the military industrial complex and feared that they would use it for evil purposes. He left only one clue for only the president in the book of secrets (remember the president is the only one who can look at the book no one else) being the good president he is he wants to reveal this info to the world. The evil guy could be someone involved with the new world order or illuminati or some stooge of the military industrial complex.
This is the only thing that I could think of that would truly be life altering and possible. Not mythical / magical like the foutain of youth which is good for POTC / Indiana Jones but not national treasure.

Let me remind you all that 47 is my favorite number. Therefore, I will be appearing in the 3rd installment of the series and will reveal that the number 47 is really about the nations Independence. 47 is 74 backwards, 7/4 is Independence day. It will lead to a treasure unimaginable!
On a serious note, let’s all realize that this number might also mean absolutely nothing. It was used to spur conversations such as this to see if it will be worth making a 3rd movie. The number 47 may never be revealed as to its true meaning.

As a side note, why didn’t we see more in NT2 about the golden piece submerged in the cave that Gates notices when looking in the water? He must have looked into something to report to the President that page 47 exists and that is one detail left unattended….

I think the NT3 will refer to something in the Roswell incident or Area 51. It is mentioned a couple of times in the NT:Book of Secrets film. Just my opinion. Also another option could be “Did we really land on the moon?”

Why is everyone so obsessed with 47? It could just be the page number and that is it. It is what is on the page that is important. In NT2 what page was the clue about Queen Victoria on, before or after page 47? Which president wrote it? You could set a time frame as to which president it was who wrote it and then a time frame for what it might be about. For example, if it were before the “moon landing” then you could know that is has nothing to do with that or area 51, or any other historic event….etc. That would at least narrow it down a bit as to a time frame since the book must be chronoligical and therefor depending on what page the entry about Queen Victoria was and which president wrote it. Could be helpful!

By the way I saw this film Friday Night and I must say it was good. I am not a fan of Nicholas Cage’s acting and I hated HATED the first film because it was way too predicatble… but this one I actually enjoyed a lot. I am excited now for a third film

OMG! 2012 never dawned on me. I have a home video I purchased from The History Channel about 2012:Doomsday. Nobody who has seen it wants to watch it again. It gets you thinking. Its very precise and accurate, too. Weird and the Winter Solstice of 2012 which is December 21, 2012 (12/21/2012) is the apposed “Doomsday”. All ancient calenders stop on this day, biblical studies also stop on this day and so much more. I believe it will be Y2K all over again.

If the current President in Ben Gates’ world wants to know what’s on Page 47, then the event has to be early in the country’s history. How about the fate of the Lost Colony in Virginia? I love the idea of playing off context in the script of NT2. For example, the landing on the moon theory. I hope it isn’t the Fountain of Youth, personally. It isn’t historical at all, and I don’t think it would do the movies justice.

Interesting thoughts… on the dam, Hoover was a mason by some accounts and he served as the Secretary of Commerce under Warren G. Harding and Calvin Coolidge, both known masons…there is enough there to run with….especially since it’s in the Nevada area they could tie in Area 51. My only thought is, the fountain of Youth is supposedly in Florida somewhere, but perhaps they can take some artistic license with it.

You are all wrong… page 47 contains the secret recipe fo KFC Original Fried Chicken. It was actually written by bottlenose dolphins who were visited by the Area 51 aliens while cruising around the Burmuda Triangle when they missed their true arrival date of December 21, 2012. Of course they couldn’t risk flying home because they might be seen by a Star Trek cruiser. So, they went to the real location of the Fountain of Youth in New Orleans, logically because of the convergence of the Miss. river and the Gulf. Of course both French and Spanish explorers learned this, but that is another movie entirely. Anyway, it’s convenient being just north of the Mayan Civilization and equally distant to the Hoover Dam and their secret underground chicken recipe labs hidden at St. Andreas, which was called Atlantis before the bigfoot colony tinkered with a nuclear device lost by the guys in Stargate, but suspected to be the real Stormtroopers and Darth Vader. Well, that’s what I think anyway.

I’ve got two comments regarding some of the comments already posted. I’m not saying my opinion is right or anything, just throwing out ideas.
One, wouldn’t you think the City of Gold sort of mystical? Although, I do agree that Disney wouldn’t have two movies with the same aim. I don’t think they’d copy other movies, including Transformers (hover dam). That was a good idea though, it just so happens it was such a good idea that it was put in another movie . . .
Two, I kind of think the opposite of ProudOwnerOfRileysBook. I think they next movie will be on something that wasn’t mentioned in NT2. Personally, I think it will be something competely different, something Riley didn’t notice when Gates was flipping through the book of secrets since Riley left before Gates got to page 47. But I might be completely off.
I think it might have something to do with a major war. NT1 was based on the Revolutionary War. NT2 is based on the Civil War. I think NT3 will be based on another war entirly. And I think the treasure will be something other than what has already been found. I like the Mayan idea, I really do, but I just think it’s too close in culture and time period to the City of Gold to be used in the third movie.
Again, I’m just throwing out some ideas. Not saying I’m right at all, just facilitating discussion.

I seriously doubt that the fountain of youth is involved anywhere, and for this simple reason: it’s impossible. All of the items in the National Treasure series are physical, as are the treasures. Even if the treasure doesn’t exist, there is always a possibility that it does, because gold and artifacts are real and have, in fact, been found before. The fountain of youth is no such thing; it is an impossibility. As to what page 47 has written on it, I have no idea, but I can tell you this with the greatest of certainty; it is *not* the fountain of youth.

Could it be more to do in someway with native americans? Gates mentioned upon finding the gold city that the President would be able to return it to it’s rightfull people. The TV show Alias was obsessed with the number 47. Disney owns ABC, which ran Alias for 5 years. Many viewers have speculated there was a connection between the shows Alias and Lost.
Maybe page 47 in NT2 unlocks this ’secret connection’ between these two TV shows.
Or, it could just be about Milo Rambaldi or Captain Kirk…….lol.

It could be something about the Spanish/American War. Perhaps dealing with the mysterious sinking of the Maine. Also I think there was alot of talk about the Fountain of Youth during this war. I don’t know a whole lot about the war really, but it happened quite some time ago, did have alot of historical value, and isn’t as well known to Americans, thus giving NT3 the opportunity to educate its viewers; which seems to be something that the writers enjoy doing so far since it adds more interesting storyline.

I’m curious to see why the President doesn’t look at it himself. It would have to be something that even the President can’t figure out, even if the evidence is right in front of him. I noticed that Ben Gates was happy to talk to the President at the end of the movie about what he had learned about Page 47. Either Ben Gates already knew the answer, or he learned the answer throughout their journey.
Another thing I thought about was the possibility of evidence concerning Thomas Gates innocence. If the President’s Book has every answer about America’s history, would what really happened the night of Lincoln’s death be hidden in the pages?

The final “treasure” has to be found within the U.S. However, the source of the treasure does not have to be American, as the source of the treasure in both movies pre-dated the States.
With regard to seeing the page…keep in mind that the Pres asked Gates to look at the page…why? Because the page is written in code…he needed Gates to decode the page.
I think he flipped back and forth throughout the book, so putting page 47 in chronological order won’t help either.
Speculation is likely pointless, as it appears to be a simple plot device to leave an opening for NT3. They can take it any direction they choose.
Regarding the post about the gold object Gates saw in the water…that was the top of the City of Gold. That was how he realized that the city was below them and would be exposed if they drained the water.
While speculation is fun, the previous movies had an historical as well as financial reward. Neither the Fountain or the Roswell stories have any sort of financial potential. I’d like them to solve the mystery of Oak Island.

Here’s a different possibility for y’all. The Beal Cryptograms.
As legend has it, in excess of $30 million in gold and silver was buried somewhere in Virginia in the early 1800’s and no one has ever found it. One of the early treasure hunters, a Mr. James Ward, was indeed a freemason who supposedly solved one of the three cryptic puzzles that protected the location of this gold by using the Declaraion of Independence as a cipher key.
This has all the needed ingredients. American connections and location, mystery surrounding the legend and a treasure that is of material value

Page 47 describes the location of the plans and working model of a fuel injection system that will yield 125 miles per gallon using a mixture of water and decaying plant matter and have zero emissions. Gates has to evade the evil oil conglomerates and the members of congress and the administration on their payroll to find the plans and model and deliver them to the President, a closet environmentalist.
Such a device would truly be the ultimate national treasure!

The next movie will not be exactly like the others. Finding the first two treasures was amazing, but LIFE-ALTERING? Treasure isn’t life altering, except for who finds it. This will be way bigger than a discovery of monetary value. Atlantis? maybe. 12/21/2012? maybe. 12+21+2+12=47. Coincidence? maybe. Fountain of youth, and Aliens? maybe, but I don’t think they will go into something this SCI-FI. I believe it will be about information. I like the Bermuda Triangle idea, that could be done. Maybe that leads into religion, the Pyramids, Stone Henge, the Hanging gardens of Babylon, or maybe even the Garden of Eden. I don’t really know. But I am looking forward to watching the next movie, and its fun to discuss.

Just saw the movie, it was ok, Indiana Jones meets deja vu DaVinco code. Brits took a slam with Queen Vic supporting the South, that hurts. There were some protesters out front with bad teeth but I didn’t hear their accents.

I think you are all thinking on to small of a scale. In both movies so far each one of the treasures have been world wide scale. not only in seer size but also in what cultures it touched. so really I would love to see something that deals with Egyptian themes but some how relates to the United States or the presidents that hide this from the civilions to protect them from wars or the seven deaths of egypt.

Life altering? Like in Da Vinci code? That would be life altering and international. I like the fountain of youth idea too, but like “The Da Vinci Code,” that would also be to overdone.
Also, inregards to 47, 47 is the quintessential random number. There is a club at Pomona called The 47 Society, which claims that there exists a mathematical proof that all numbers are equal to 47, and that the number 47 occurs with greater frequency in nature than other numbers. Additionally, the number is been associated with the occult and could be traced back to historic significance in that, In the year 47 AD Ananias became the high priest in Judaea.
Now, if that isn’t enough. In 47 B.C., Caesar proclaimed “veni, vidi, vici.” Later, the Christian Bible reported in Genesis Chapter 47 that Jacob died at the age of 147. The New Testament credits Jesus with 47 miracles, and it is said that the King James version of the Bible was the work of 47 scholars.
So, my guess will be that it could be something biblical. BUT…We are dealing with Hollywood, so who really knows.

Obviously none of you watched the old Dick Van Dyke show. In one episode, Robert Petry, Buddy Sorrell and Sally Rogers are writing a skit about Earthonauts. Earthonauts are like astronauts, but go down instead of up Their mission is to find the center of the earth. Why? TO find out if it’s chewy or chocolate cream. I think page 47 holds the secret to the portal for this mission.

Given that it was page 47 and that most Presidents took 2-3 or more pages to write things, odds are it was from an earlier President around the time of Lincoln or Grant. So what happened during those years that was significant in US history and how could it play out, other then Civil War. I guess we’ll have to wait and see………………..

Well since I study Atlantis and Atlantis was mentioned in the movie I would like to think that the third movie will find it. I kind of doubt thats the way they are headed but that is my vote!
Oh yea, and to John that posted on Dec22nd, Atlantis is not necessarily Greek. In fact Atlantis was said to exist 900 years before Plato, the greek who told the story! I’m not saying its 100% not greek, but the fact that the story was told by a greek doesn’t make it greek. I could tell that story and that wouldn’t make it American. And if you really want to get picky, Plato got it from Solon who got it from an ancient egyptian priest during a visit to Egypt! Does that make it Egyptian? Some believe Atlantis to be in the Atlantic, some believe it was in the Med. Sea, some believe it is now the Artic or the Antartic. Others even believe South America. I’m open to about any of these locations except the Med. Sea. Plato described Atlantis as being bigger than Europe and Asia Minor combined. The Med. isn’t large enough for an island that big. Plato also says it is “beyond the Pillars of Hercules” which are widely thought to be the Straits of Gilbraltor. While I’m personally open to about any ideas, I tend to believe that, if it existed, the Azores are the Atlantis mountain peaks.
Anyway, I would love to see this explored, especially since there really hasn’t been that many “grown up” movies about atlantis.

No to atlantis or any other crazy non Americain theme. Gates is a US History scholar. Therefore not Egyptian or other International theme possibilities. Page 47 is chronological, therefore it’s relevant to a particular president. Which one? Who can tell. All the gibberish about the significance to the number 47 is irrelevant. The question is what did the President need Gates’ expertise for that he and other Presidents would want to confirm as to what is on the page - and it wouldn’t have been in code - duh. Treasure related would be helpful if we are going to see it in a 3rd movie….

The page 47 refers to the 4 corners of the earth and the 4 elements of the earth coupled with the perfect number 7. This will lead them to the search for the statue built by King Neb. that Shadrack was to bow down to but refused. The statue was lost in the Plains of Dura in present day Iraq.

My guess, it will involve the Dead sea scrolls (found in 1947, currently on display in the library of Congress) with specific reference to the “War Rule” passages.

I think your all forgetting a lot of things. Walt Dinsey was more then just a mason. He was part of the Illuminati. Disney like a lot of other organizations both private and governmental are ran by the Illuminati. The Knights Templar are part of the Illuminti. Even the Shriners club is one of the bottom organizations of the Illuminati. Every president since Washington with the exception of 3, JFK being one of them were put into office by the Illuminati. We all know what happened to JFK. I could say more but like my name says, I am CIAs Most Wanted. So I have to be careful what I say in public. If there is a NT3 it will be something the Illuminati wants to use as a tool to give more disinformation about. Personally, I would rather see the Ark of the Covenant or Holy Grail. Two items that have historys IN Africa, Egypt, India, England, Middle East, Italy, France, Germany, and a few other places I dare not mention. These two relics hold a key to something that even the Vatican wont say because it is a guarded secret. In fact, the Vatican has more secrets then the Mormans do in there HQ in Utah. But I can’t say all I would want to here nor could I even say it anywhere. You all talk of conspiracies but I know what is going on. But if I would have to guess on what the next one would have been, I would have to say it would be something biblical. And the 4 I can think of that stand out above the rest are the Ark of the Covenant, The Ark, Holy Grail, and King Solomons Mines. But there are a few others it could be. It would be something the Illuminati would want to do since it has in so many other movies. You have no idea how deep the rabbit hole goes. And I wont discuss it. Not here… not anywhere.

I think we need to reexamine the idea of Gates finding the remains (or still thriving) colony of Roanoke island. Maybe the colony of people are still alive, living like the Amish are in an area cut off to the world. Maybe thats bringing fantasy too much into the picture. However, I still think that it would fit chronologically. From the look of the size of the book, we can estimate that it is 200-300 pages, depending on how much stuff (photos, maps, etc) were placed into the book. Page 47 was flipped BACK to when Gates found it to take the picture. This means it it before The Lincoln Assignation and therefore Roanoke is still a possibility. However, America didn’t have a president at the time of Roanoke, BUT that doesn’t mean that its secret didn’t lie with someone….like a stone mason???……
I also agree that the idea that NT3 has to do with another great war. And I do want to reinforce the idea that this is an AMERICAN treasure. Therefore I feel Atlantis, Locke Ness Monster, are out. I agree that the Hoover Dam is out b/c of Transformers and that The Fountain of Youth is too mystical and was used in too many movies. I don’t see the director taking that angle. I do find it interesting that the Fountain of Youth was thought of as the 3rd treasure of the United States someone stated, but I can’t find much information on where that it mentioned on the net. Anyone else want to entertain some ideas. All in all, I think the best bet is to watch out for the disappearance of the Roanoke Island colony in NT3.

My personal view of the movie was great. I loved both movies and I cant wait until the 3rd movies is released. I know there will be a third movie, I mean they made $347 million dollars on the first and and estimated $365 million on the book of secrets when it clears theatres. My guess is that since Gates is a diver, What about the lost continent of Atlantis??? It is a physical artifact and could contains the worlds most valuble pieces.

Mikey, I would agree that so far this is American and frankly it should stay American but Nicholas Cage, Jerry B. and, I think it was one of the writers (I know there are three of the big wigs) want an international treasure therefore NT3 will likely have a international treasure of some kind! Cage said he wanted NT2 to be international and that filming in London and France wasn’t enough. He wants Africa and Egypt among many others. When it comes down to it, Cage is now a big player in these films which means they really can’t do any NTs without him and therefore they are going to have to do a great deal to keep him happy which may mean giving in to his wish to go international.

I have been reading the postings related to “page 47.” I would like to add my 2 cents worth. The President had a particular interest in George Washington (though he later said his favorite president was Lincoln). I Googled “George Washington>47″ and came up with the following: ‘His adopted daughter, Nelly Custis Lewis, stated: “I have heard her [Nelly's mother, Eleanor Calvert Custis, who resided in Mount Vernon for two years] say that General Washington always received the sacrament with my grandmother [Martha Washington] before the revolution.”[47]‘ The article states immediately thereafter: “After the revolution, Washington frequently accompanied his wife to Christian church services; however, there is no record of his ever taking communion, and he would regularly leave services before communion—with the other non-communicants (as was the custom of the day), until he ceased attending at all on communion Sundays.”
Was this a “life-altering” crisis of faith that afflicted Washington?? And what was it that so affected him? Could it be he had come into possession of the Holy Grail (the chalice used by Christ at the Last Supper) via the Knights Templar?? Remember that a great many artifacts were taken from Jerusalem during the Crusades. Just something to ponder.

OK, here’s the thing, Atlantis is supposed to be in the Bahamas or off the coast of Ireland. Obviously not in the U.S. and the movie is called National Treasure, (i.e. The United States of America). Then they wouldn’t do the Fountain of Youth either, Jerry Bruckheimer produces National Treasure and Pirates, he isn’t going to use the same idea on two of his movies, no one is dumb enough to do that, OK. So honestly I’m thinking, there is going to be something with like a president’s treasure, one where each president adds to it, except for the fact that it disappeared after so many presidents, then again there are plenty of “secrets” that dot the pages of American history, that we would all like explained, even if it isn’t right!

Whatever is on Page 47 MUST be a puzzle. Otherwise why would the President want Gates to lookat it? The president obviously knew what page 47 contained and he needed advise about it. When Gates asked to see the book the President saw it as an opportunity to translate the puzzle using the world’s most famous puzzle solver, Ben Gates. So…findingout what’s ON page 47 is not as important as findingout what it means…solving yet another clue, another puzzle. The question remains, what is the TOPIC of that puzzle and why is it so valuable to know the answer. Must be something like the end of days or the name of the antiChrist…something important to the history of the United States. But it HAS to be a puzzle of the President would not need Gates to look at it. He could have simply looked at it himself.

Ok I have no idea to what it exactly may be, however if you see in the film cage flips the pages to page 47 and its BEFORE the part about the letter from Queen Victoria so that would be before 1865 that was the year they got a letter about the coded messages.
I’m not well known with American History etc, but I think I can safely say that the 3rd movie won’t be about something like area 51 or the Rosswell crash, since this happened much later the the 19th century.
Plus I believe that this would be to much fiction for the writers, the first 2 movies where all about mythes and legends people have talked about for AGES, the City of Gold etc. So in my opinion if there will be a third movie it will be about, Atlantis, Fountain of youth or any other ideas like this stated in the comments before me.
And, this might be a stretch and to easy but a possiblity is also the treasure of the knights templar, not really the holy grail, but the same thing the da vinci code was about, jesus’s bloodline etc.
Although I hardly believe they will take that route since it has been done over and over by writers in books and movies. But it is a good possibility, since the fact about free masons is reacuring the whole time, and people claim that they are decendents of the knights templar.
But then again anything could be a possibility that is associated with the free masons, which is quite a lot if you see all the discovery specials and books that are made and written these days about the exact same subject.
As long as it is from before 1865, so anybody that has ideas for things in history after that, area 51, moonlading, jfk etc are most likely NOT it.
Oh and here is something to consider, since its life altering, it might be something that concerns the whole world, I know the movies are called national treasure and the first 2 where about treasures on the continent of America, but it might be that it is going to be about something far greater, life altering in a global perspective.

Perhaps the battle at the Alamo was funded inapropriately and all went wrong prior to the final battle. Who had an interest in the outcome?
The Mormon church is steeped in Mason history (pre-1865) and its known history is quite steamy. Quite plausible.
American history is rich in lore and legend. NT3 doesn’t have to be from the obvious stories we are all familiar with from watching cable TV or reading popular novels. In fact, steering clear of the bvious would add to the excitement of new discoveries, taking me where I have not thought of going.

The US has lots of lore and fantasy about treasure for sure. Pirates capture the imagination and Pirates of the Carribean has been all over some lore except Black Beard. I would think a more plausible plot would be about something real like The Lost Dutchman’s Mine perhaps. Disney is again onto something and making it real and a wee bit plausible might keep the formula going. Fountain of Youth or Biblical undertones would deviate from what is working. It can’t be controversial such as Kennedy’s assasination and from what I have heard about the Mason’s maybe it’s time to leave them alone. Page 47 is shown in large numbers in the credits so it is leading us somewhere. Years 1647? 1747? 1847? 1947? Maybe a year or maybe has to do with the 47th state? Location of a lost gold mine, again the Lost Dutchman’s? Maybe it will take us into the Wild West? Time will tell but I for one am glad the movie did some good in trying to clear Dr. Mudd’s name.

More, from Superstition Mountain Museum Website it says “Alfred Strong Lewis, in his manuscript, Rain God’s Gold, theorized the Peraltas or Spaniards worked the rich goldfields four miles northeast of present day Apache Junction and were massacred by the Apaches as they were preparing to leave the area and return to Sonora in 1847.” Also note our 47th state was New Mexico. Maybe reaching here but it does seem to be a path for the number 47.

For gods sake people, the movie is National Treasure. It’s about something important to America, not the secret to life or where Noah’s Ark is or some bs. Far-fetched stuff like that would be impossible to write in anyway, the first 2 movies are at least mostly feasible.
Kevin, if you remember while he was flipping in the book, before he even got to page 47 and the plank of wood etc, Riley mentioned a couple things while he was flipping, like the Kennedy assassination and the Roswell/Area 51 incident, so I don’t think the book has any particular order about it like you suggest.
Personally I like the Roanoke idea. I don’t like that the movie will pretty much just add their 2-cents in to an event that can not possibly be explained, but it would make for a good plot.

There is an account of a tribe rich in pearls a 3day trip from Roanoke you would have to get to creatve with the clues for otto feel grounded though.
If I were a writer I would prpbaly look to the Mexican American war and the Freemasons lodge in baton rouge la there are records of recorded comentary on complaints about john Adams, and also his relations to the knights of Templar and missing jewels confiscated during the war and shipped to the Freemasons in Iowa. It has slot of elements that could be elaborated on murderusteru etc also andrew pike a tie in as one of the main masons in new Orleans along with the founding of the historical society

he starts flipping from the start from BACK to FRONT, JFK, Area51, Letter Queen Victoria, starts reading, flips to page from FRONT to BACK, finds photo, leaves the page open where the photo was, flips from BACK to FRONT again, finds page 47 and makes a photo of it.
as far as the whole page 47 thing goes, it is a page number i hardly believe it has any meaning other then that, they just keep calling it page 47 in the movie to add to the suspense, because they cant say ‘did you read about the fountain of youth’ or whatever, because it would have given away a plot (+ they probably havent any idea what they want to do with it)

Its a stretch but you do see page 51 when takes a picture of the plank and then it shows page 47 after. Assuming that the entry about the resolute desk and the queen victoria letter was entered after page 47: The desk was received in 1880 to Coolidge, if you go back to major events; President Andrew Johnson signed a treaty and Alaska was formally transferred to the United States (from Russia) on October 18, 1867. Alaska became the gateway to the Klondike gold fields… Maybe there was more to the gold, Gold from Czar Peter the Great? That would make it international?!?

Its not like he can just go and get some special information on aliens that the world doesnt already know about,
