The trailer for the computer animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who premiered on selected prints of The Golden Compass and is now online. I love the look of this thing. Fox has perfectly captured the Seussian style without going off the deep end. And this is coming from a guy who hated the Ice Age movies (Pixar they are not). I wonder how this will compare to the 1970 2-D animated Chuck Jones television short film. Lets hear what you guys think. Watch the new trailer after the jump.
Directors: Jimmy Hayward, Steve Martino
Writers: Cinco Paul & Ken Durio, Jon Vitti and Mike Reiss, based on the novel by Dr. Seuss
Cast: (voices of) Jim Carrey, Steve Carell, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Isla Fisher, Dane Cook, Will Arnett, Jaime Pressl, Dan Fogler and Amy Poehler.
Official Plot Synopsis: The classic and beloved story from Dr. Seuss comes to the big screen in a new CG animated feature motion picture from 20th Century Fox Animation, the makers of the “Ice Age” films. An imaginative elephant named Horton hears a faint cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Horton suspects there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community which thinks he has lost his mind, he is determined to save the tiny particle.
You can also watch the new trailer in High Definition on Apple.com. Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who hits theaters on March 14th 2007.

This flick is visually amazing. I just love every frame of it.
From what I hear, the director of this flick used to be a Pixar animator.

I believe that the evolution of computer animation - and where it is today -was meant for Seuss stories! I love the old 2d, but I’m stoked for this and many more to come. Wonder if they’ll be brave enough to do the lorax…

I’m sold and this is coming from someone who loved Dr. Seuss as a kid and this story in particular. Looks far and away better than the execrable live-action remake of The Grinch that Stole Christmas. Orange cinema has it exactly right: Dr. Seuss is perfect for computer animation (and vice versa). Count me among the stoked.

The only thing that worries me is Jim Carrey…When he plays that kind of roles, he often overacts…and that annoyes me!

It looks like a fun movie to me! I also like that it appears they’re not trying to be too poetic and rhymy with this one.

Hey guys, what happened to the Wickersham Brothers? Anyone remember them? The group of monkeys that work with the Sour Kangaroo and the Black Bottomed Eagle, Vlad Vladikoff, to take the clover from Horton.
I just hope this movie, like the boo, ends with a huge court case with the citizens of the Jungle of Nool trying to get Horton locked up in a zoo and the speck boiled in Beezlenut Oil!
Yeah, this was a favorite of mine as a child! “A Person’s a Person, No Matter How Small!”

Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who is classic, i forgot how much that guy packed into such simple storylines… they didn’t add much to the original story either except for the usual Jim-Carryisms.

I LIKED HORTON HEARS A WHO. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS HORTON THE ELEPHANT. MY FAVORITE PART WAS THAT HORTON MEETS THE MAYOR OF WHOVILLE. MY SECOND FAVORITE PART WAS THAT THE MAYOR GETS A STAPLE ON HIS FOREHEAD TWICE. MY THIRD FAVORITE PART WAS THAT HORTON PRETENDS HE IS FALLING OFF THE BRIDGE. MY FOURTH FAVORITE PART WAS THAT HORTON SHOUTS,”HEEEEEELOOOOOO!”. FROM THE MOVIE,I LEARNED THAT A PERSON’S A PERSON NO MATTER HOW SMALL. MY FIFTH FAVORITE PART WAS THAT VLAD CRASHES INTO A MOUNTAIN. WHEN HORTON SHOUTED,HE SOUNDED LIKED MR.NOISY. JANE THINKS HORTON IS CRAZY LIKE WOODY WOODPECKER. VLAD IS JUST LIKE BUZZ BUZZARD. JANE IS JUST LIKE MR.STUBBORN. HEADY IS JUST LIKE MR.SCATTERBRAIN. JOJO IS JUST LIKE MR.QUIET. WHEN MORTON RUNS FAST,HE IS JUST LIKE MISS DAREDEVIL AND WOODY. THE WICKERSHAM BROTHERS ARE JUST LIKE SPLINTER AND KNOTHEAD,EXCEPT THAT SPLINTER AND KNOTHEAD ARE WOODPECKERS. THANK GOD MORTON DOESN’T RUN LIKE WALLY WALRUS. VLAD IS ALSO JUST LIKE MISS NAUGHTY,MISS SCARY, AND MR.RUDE. HORTON IS JUST LIKE BUGS BUNNY AND DAFFY DUCK ALSO,EXCEPT THAT DAFFY IS AS CRAZY AS WOODY. AND WOODY IS AS CRAZY AS DAFFY. AND THIS IS WHAT WOODY’S LAUGH SOUNDS LIKE,”HA-HA-HA-HA-HA,HA-HA-HA-HA-HA,HA-HA-HA-HA-HA,HAHAHAHAHAHAHA”.
