10,000 BC

Warner Bros has released a new movie trailer for Roland Emmerich’s 10,000 B.C.

“Before Everything We Know, Lies a Legend, Never Told…”

I’m not quite sure why, but I’m just not getting hyped for this movie. I’ve watched the trailer three times now and find myself unable to narrow it down. Maybe it’s the fact that it features no recognizable actors, or maybe it’s the mediocre special effects. Watch the trailer now on CHUD. 10,000 B.C. hits theaters on March 7, 2008.

The magazine HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP reported HE is seeking sugar girls on seekingsugar.com these days. The stupid man uploaded some hot pictures there and wants to find her sugar baby. But he is said to ask his lawyer to take some actions against the magazine!

“Mediocre” sfx? This film has been in postpro more than 1 year! You’ll see…

I liked the teaser trailer far better than this one, and I too can’t really say why. On the sfx I have to disagree, I think they look fantastic (At least in this format, I’ll reevaluate when the HD trailer is available).
But when I think “10,000 before Christ”, I just don’t see people that civilized. Maybe I’m just badly informed about our planet’s past :)

It looks lame because Roland Emmerich made it. He has made some crap movies…Independence Day, Godzilla, Eight Legged Freaks, The Day After Tomorrow. All these movies had potential, but his lameness ruined them all, and this movie will be no different.

I liked ID4, and I also liked Day After Tomorrow. Godzilla though was craptastic, I agree.

The Day After Tomorrow was literally retarded. So was Godzilla, … actually so was most. I loved ID4…but i was 14 at the time. I’m intrested in this movie…but more just because we don’t see movies cover this time in our planets history.

    PS…The Patriot was good though!

Have to agree with these two points! I guess I’m a glutton for punishment when it comes to Roland.

ugh…true, this story has never been told - in this setting…otherwise it’s pretty derivative.
@ Frank - 10000 - 4000 BC is when we started to get our shit together, agriculture, cities, writing, laws etc…to have that level (as seen in the trailer) of civilization in 10000 BC is a bit much…but not to the point of being an intellectual punch in the face…if you’re willing to forgive things like metal tools, stirrups/saddles, large buildings…and everyone speaking english :)

Was this movie made by a creationist ?

Possibly it’s because Roland Emmerich should never have been allowed to work again after what he did to Godzilla. Seriously, he should be relegated to drive-thru windows.

    @goldfarb:
I can live with them talking English (although I liked the Apocalypso approach), but large buildings in 10,000BC? I dunno…

Roland Emmerich is a cool director, I look forward to this film.

No recognizable actors? First off that doesn’t have anything to do with anything, and according to Nespresso, Camilla Belle is more recognizable than George Clooney (check ou the fun Nespresso ad on youtube if you don’t know what I’m talking about).

Oh, and Peter, can’t you do something about the “seekingsugar.com” spam you’ve been getting lately?

    working on it.

Gotta say, it doesn’t impress me that much. HOWEVER, it does sota look like it could secretly be a prequel to Stargate… pyramid-looking buildings before they’re traditionally agreed to exist, plus screaming “He is not a god!” This could be the uprising that brought the people to originally bury the Stargate, except they don’t all look Egyption. Nonetheless, it would be really freaking cool if they had been holding that secret back this whole time. I wouldn’t put it past Roland Emmerich to make a prequel to the one movie of his people don’t consistently insult…

I also like ID and Day After. The special effects made me suspend my disbelief and consider future possibilities. However I am already put off by this movie because we have a rational idea of what our ancient past looked like. Most adults know what species co-habited the earth 12,000 years ago. Ancient architecture such as the type in the trailer did not start until 7,000 years later. If this film is Fred Flinstone Fantastic or “Raquel Welch meets Johnny Weismuller”, I don’t mind waiting until it comes out on cable. Then “Extra butter, Please!”
