Sony Pictures has released the movie trailer for their upcoming Adam Sandler comedy You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.
Directed by Dennis Dugan (Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore), Zohan’s screenplay was a collaboration between three comedy greats: Judd Apatow (40-Year-Old-Virgin, Knocked Up), Robert Smigel (SNL) and Adam Sandler. The film stars Sandler as an Israel Intelligence Agent who fakes his death so he can anonymously move to New York and become a hair stylist. Sounds like a promising SNL sketch, but a full length feature film?
Sandler’s middle eastern accent may rival his line delivery in Little Nicky for maximum annoyance. And the action sequences look, well… stupid. There has been a lot of great comedies this past year: Juno, Knocked Up, Hot Fuzz, SuperBad, The Darjeeling Limited, The Simpsons Movie and even Walk Hard. Zohan doesn’t look up to par. Watch the trailer below. Tell me what you guys think!
You can also watch the new trailer in High Definition on Yahoo! Movies. You Don’t Mess with the Zohan hits theaters on June 6th, 2008.

Looks promising, I guess the accent would be annoying after a while, but the part where he puts the kid to sleep is hilarious, definitely better than his last couple of movies.
Chuck and Larry, anyone?

Sandler’s more serious roles have really impressed me. I think he’s a very good actor and needs to progress from this crap. Not that theres anything wrong with comedy films, just do something more original and in vein with Punch Drunk.

This looks pretty funny but I’m not sure how Americans will take to a terrorist comedy. The foot scene was hilarious though.

It’s amazing that you can (outside of Punch Drunk Love) actually chart the decline of Sandler’s movies from one to another. Here and I thought it couldn’t get any worse than “Click.”

i can’t remember the last time a trailer made me laugh out loud, but the feet scene did it for me. i don’t think all hope’s lost.

biggest damn joke of a movie. i have never commented, but that shit was that bad. Honestly i love Judd, but the more and more people think he is a the shit the bar only gets higher…this dude is set to fail.

i’m pretty sure making a movie that either bombs or isn’t considered as funny as his other stuff doesn’t constitute “failing”

Looks funny to me. I’ll rent it.
You guys all think you’re these deep-thinking movie critics. You’re not. Not everything has to be art and have meaning. Sometimes people want to laugh.
And for the record, the Darjeeling Limited sucked balls. As did the rest of those movies. That’s supposed to be funny!?

what does another movie have to do with this heap of smelly shit? Sandler fell off hard dont try and cover up for a mess of an actor that he has become.

I think it looks moderately funny, I laughed at a few parts. If anything it will at least appeal to Jr. High males.

His movies have always been some what screwballish. I think he is funny. The movie looks good and I laughed my ass off to the trailer. SuperBad was funny too, but not as funny as Wedding Crashers I nearly crapped when I saw that. I think he should get a chance. I’m sure there’s going to be some kind of romantic plot to it as well, so the film may have some value. The fact that most of you are rejecting this from the get go may have to do with the shadow of 9/11 still in your minds, and how were not suppose to laugh at terrorists, or see any humor in actors who portray imaginary ones. Don’t get me wrong I’m US military and I know why I joined, but I also feel that anger and hatred won’t rid the world of extremists. Two cents in full.
