Warner Bros has released a new photo of Batman riding his BatPod in the new Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight. Click on the image to enlarge. The film is set to hit theaters on July 18th 2008.

Why not just make the wheels giant blocks? That’d be just as practical on city streets at 100 mph. The point of a two-wheel cycle is that it’s stealthy and can outrun most four-wheeler while dodging traffic.
The Batpod is a disaster.
And are those Van Halen guitars strapped to the sides? Ick. Keytars perhaps? Batman like the karaoke?

It’s like some chubby kid in a pinwheel hat could just walk up to Batman and with a lil’ nudge push the Batpod onto its side.
Anyone who says the Batpod wasn’t made to create toy tie-ins is a huckster themselves. Nolan is def compromising. I’m even up for Batman on a cycle, but this is stupes. And, exactly Razor, what about the cape! It’s more dangerous than sitting on an escalator.

Lastly,
As CHUD points out about the new Bat suit, the Batman symbol is so tiny and submerged in the suit’s new highly detailed laser tattoos (copyright Versace 2007) that it’s like Batman is having an inferiority (sexual orientation?) complex.
Nolan is making him a laughing stock of Gotham based on the images so far. Instead of a Batman who has gotten slightly more vengeful and professional, Nolan has created a Batman that looks like a metrosexual superhero straight out of Maxim (that’s where he got the idea for the Batpod btw, beside the $40 shaving cream).

The bike looks like a goth version of Judge Dredd’s Lawmaster bike; cannon on the front, fat tires, etc.

To me it looks great. Not a beautiful bike at all, but a “monster bike” with strange military aparatus to give us the idea of a Lucius Fox’s style design to make it a more “real” and “acceptable” vehicle from Nolan’s Batman Universe.
I can’t wait to see it running on the new teaser trailer next firday…

Yeah, I agree with you. It does look plastic. What I assume is that a stuntman is riding the bike, and he is wearing some kind of face-cast of Christian Bale. Some movie magic I guess…

The idea of riding a bike in the first place is kinda silly, but the bike itself looks good to me. It is very industrial looking and matches the style of the bat-tank.

Interesting that the people complaining about the cape forget that it can stiffen with current into a hang glider, so why not stiffen to avoid touching the rear wheel?
Also, if you search for other images, you’ll find stills that show the tires are the same as the front tires on the batmobile, and that there are multiple barrels to the guns, which could include missles or who knows what else.
Remember in the first movie when the batmobile’s guns were used to destroy walls and elevated train supports? There are uses for projectile weapons other than shooting people.
To those complaining that the new batman franchise sucks - why not ignore it instead? Like the studios are going to listen to you when they are making $$$.

Any Batman fan would know that the purpose of the logo (black bat on yellow background) on his chest is that it is there as a target. It distracts batman’s enemies from looking at his face as well as give then an area to shoot at..as this is the most armored part of his body. Making it small like this defeats the purpose….and I thought this reinvention of the dark knight by hollywood was to be more in line with the comics.
