The FightCast has returned for Round Two. In this week’s FightCast, we fight about the newly debuted Speed Racer trailer and The Golden Compass, two of the biggest topics of discussion heading into this weekend.
The very first trailer for the Wachowski Brother’s adaptation of the Japanese cartoon Speed Racer arrived yesterday, and is getting quite a polarized response. Alex thinks it will revolutionize cinema, while Peter isn’t impressed.
The Golden Compass hits theaters today. The fantasy adventure film based on the Philip Pullman novel is getting a mixed response. Peter enjoyed it a lot but had some problems, and Alex has a similar opinion.
This week’s episode was again recorded over the phone. I’m still trying to convince Alex to record the podcast through Skype, for clearer audio. But again, if you’re looking for high production value, look elsewhere. This isn’t even a show, it’s a conversation between two film geeks. The official website has launched - and for all future episodes and to subscribe to the podcast, head right to: FilmFightCast.com!

Okay, I know I’ve become a chronic commenter on this site, but I want to watch (as opposed to see) it succeed where others have and are failing. FightCast is a great idea, but the sound of this edition is truly horrid, even for 2 mins. You guys gotta use Skype. It’s free, it’s crystal, it’s hip, it’s great for recording (I’ve done so). Why would you not?
One other idea: no offense to Alex, but after the Hitman debacle, I think you guys should mix it up a little. I am all for “shit” and “fuck” being in a review via this format, but Alex is a little too “shit, fuck.” Why not go up against your readers? That’s a fresh idea, and serves this whole interactive internet theory nicely. I am all for debating the Speedracer trailer man and most of us here are literate and intelligent it seems. You could have contests where we email our points of contention on a movie versus your posts on the site, and you choose the strongest for a little movie Crossfire. Just an idea. But I really admire the freedom and originality of the FightCast. And the word “Fight” truly is awesome. Passion amongst geeks needs volume.
Another idea would be to include a vote button for who wins the debate. That would be awesome.

dohdoh,
I greatly appreciate your comments on the site. They are always smart and on target. And I always appreciate your feedback.
Alex and I have decided to record future episodes digitally. I agree, the quality is not where I would like it to be. Next week it will sound 100 times better, I promise.
The vote idea is something we plan to inpliment.
Alex is a good commentator because he is the definition of a fanboy. He has an unmatched enthusiasm, and truely wants everything to be incredible. We plan on bringing in some of iur friends who write and run other movie websites from time to time. And we’re also planning on doing live call in episodes where you and other readers can join the fight, but that might be down the line. We want to grow the shoe’s listenership up before we make that move.

Gotta say, I’ve met Alex (as you know) and I don’t recall him being much of a “potty mouth.” Seems like it’s being done just to make the podcast “cool.”
