Cool Stuff: Abandoned Refuge AT-AT Star Wars Model

Abandoned Refuge AT-AT Star Wars Model

Professional model maker Dimitri Kaliviotis likes to recreate wrecked and destroyed vehicles out of sci-fi models. The rusted Abandoned Refuge AT-AT wreck shown above, won the Starship Modeler’s Wrecks online contest. Don’t ruin your $1500 Master Replicas Star Wars AT-AT Imperial Walker Studio Scaled Replica just yet. Kaliviotis’ model took 2 months to complete, and was created using a heavily modified garage kit, which is not commercially available. Now if only LucasFilm would release a studio replica of Dimitri’s model.

Kaliciotis has been working as a professional model-maker on American film productions shot in Montreal, for the past eight years.

Check out more photos of the destroyed AT-AT model after the jump.

  • American Film Productions SHIT ??? in Montreal???
  • Guys, the obvious typo has been corrected. And as for our content, if I were to pretend to be the MPAA, I would rate slashfilm.com PG-13 for some language and violent imagery

hmm forgot to leave the rest of my comment. It looks good but if it was only standing on 3 legs (one of which being partially broken you'd think it would have fallen down kinda like the one that got tripped up on Hoth from the tow cable. Looks good tho

Looks like a 1980 Kenner AT-AT toy that's been buried in the backyard for the past 27 years.

    I guess if that's your thing, you'll enjoy Dimitri's model above :P

    For me, it's kinda depressing.

    Weathering looks great, awesome job.
Is this the classic AMT ERTL 80s model?
  • Millenniumf
No, it's a resin kit that's not readily available anymore. Probably not the plastic AMT kit, as I think it's much bigger (about 20-25" IIRC). Of what I can remember of the description on SSM, this was a mis-cast resin kit that had huge voids in it because air got mixed in, so he capitalized on that by creating a battle-damaged and decayed walker.
