Jebus, Kel. Go outside. Seriously. Meet people. Do SOMETHING other than all the above ranting horsehit I've seen here. Really. Something. Anything. Read something that doesn't have pictures in it for once. Talk to people that exist in the real world. Kids who say "if you had said that to my face I'd kick your ass" really need to... aw, who am I kidding. Forget everything I just said. Just stay in your bizarre little fanboy world and leave the rest of us normals alone. Or eat shit. Your choice.

Okay... I don't have anything against the argument here. I've had the same one over the guy that played Kingpin. A character nicknamed the Pillsbury Doughboy shouldn't have been black. That said, I like the costume. It reminds me of some of the heavier armored suits he's broken out at times for more dangerous threats. On the other hand, I don't like that the Ledger Joker looks like he's wearing what should be skintone as makeup. I like the cut mouth. I like how he reminds me of what's being done in the Confidential storyline on shelves.

Now.... to really geek for a moment, I couldn't resist:

>Why does Superman need a cape? Or why does he wear red and blue?
How often does Superman wrap someone in his cape? It's needed for that if nothing else. As for the colors, his costume is made from threads of the things he was wrapped in when launched from Krypton. He wears the colors he was launched in. He needs to wear the colors that he's swaddled in, and red and blue gives a good contrast for the babe.

>How does Spider-Man stick to walls when he wears his costume?
Same way he does out of it. He's shown taking his shoes off and climbing in socks often enough it's obvious he can cling through cloth.

>Why would Iron man make his suit gold and red?
Ego. Tony Stark is arrogant and loves attention. Red and gold for his costume makes sure he's noticed. He started out in grey though.

>Why does the Hulk have to be green?
He doesn't. He's been grey often enough, and I've heard of other colors, but never seen it.

>Why does Wolverine have claws that come out of his fists and not his fingertips/nails?
Storage space and utility. The claws are shown in his forearms when retracted. It's easier to pop out at the knuckles with that. Also, if they came from the fingernails, he'd have to fight like a girl.

>Why would someone with the powers of a superhero wear such a colorful costume?
Again ego. Heroes are trying to be noticed. The ones that aren't tend to dark colors instead.

>Why does Lex luthor have to be bald?
He doesn't. He's been a redhead quite often in the comics. The original, Alexie, was.

Just wanted to answer some questions for you.

Oh,dear god,is Gilmore Girls over already? That's a bitch,I guess you've nothing better to do now then come back here and bicker with me. But if it helps you stay sober,so be it.

Feh. You and your damn logic. Let me tell you something you jive ass turkey, the black plastic "armor" batsuits were not done to be realistic. They were done becuz director Tim Burton preffered all black rubber over the traditional black and gray. They aren't anymore than a fashion statement at best. If they were going to be realistic, they would have made a batsuit that had NO YELLOW on it at ALL,had no utility belt and if it did they wouldn't have called it that, the suit would have had a cowl that covered the face completely, complete with little eye protection pieces/lenzes,there would be NO cape, but a trenchcoat instead with a long, scalloped tail, there would be NO knee high boots,no scalloped/finned gloves, and the suit would be completely black or camoflouge. That's what they would've done if they wanted it to be "realistic". Ever since Tim Buton touched the franchise in 1989 (and I loved the movie, don't get me wrong) and radically redisigned the batsuit becuz it wasn't chic enough for him,EVERY producer and director has wanted to keep the suit plastic and rubber with no gray area. Realism has little to do with it,don't kid yourself. They like it that way becuz they don't know how to do it any other way,and eventually, that's going to come back and bite them in the ass. Sooner or later, there must be a line drawn between what's realistic and what's respectful of the comix. If there isn't,eventually you'll find yourself saying things like:
Why does Superman need a cape? Or why does he wear red and blue?
How does Spider-Man stick to walls when he wears his costume?
Why would Iron man make his suit gold and red?
Why does the Hulk have to be green?
Why does Wolverine have claws that come out of his fists and not his fingertips/nails?
Why would someone with the powers of a superhero wear such a colorful costume?
Why does Lex luthor have to be bald?
The questions will go on and on,till eventually you'll have stripped away from the characters what made them so intriguing and iconic in the first place. They'll have become flavorless and glum as anything you'd see in everyday life.
So,back to the batsuit, the suit needs to be black and gray on the areas it's black and gray in the comix,it should not be tights, but not ridiculous plastic or rubber either. It should be made out of a chainmail, bulletproof vest type material, that's flexible yet strong enough to prevent you from getting a lot of bruises. Make the gray areas chainmail like, and make all the black areas on the suit out of the same material, the only part that should be kept hard "plastic" or unflexible is the front of the cowl so Batman can still bash enemies with his head without getting hurt, but he'll be able to turn his head as well cuz the rest of the cowl will be flexible like the cape and other areas on the suit. The suit should be bullet proof from the chest on down, and EVERYWHERE on the suit should be shock and flame resistant to a degree. Keep the yellow areas on the suit the same shade of yellow that the belt is in batman Begins (the belt in the movie is awesome, unlike the rest of the suit). Do that and you'll have created a practical and respectful film version of the Batman suit.

But,unfortunately, there will always be assholes like you who lack the imagination to see that a suit more flexible and respectful of the comix would work better on screen than some piece of shit plastic and rubber concoction that the hollywood bigwigs think is chic. Everytime someone mentions the black and gray your kind wants to bring up the crappy Adam West suit. That was about as similar to the comix style costume as the plastic movie suits are. Perhaps someday WB and CO will get some sense and make a batsuit worth a damn, but with assholes like you I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Now,on to the Joker. He looks NOTHING like how the Joker should look. if you want to see what he should look like, check out some of the Alex Ross pictures. The Joker in DK looks like complete shit. not to say that Heath won't do well in the role or that the film won't be good, but the character looks completely shitty. The damned smile is made out of cut marks from razor blades instead of the muscles being frozen that way as a result of a chemical accident, there are NO eyebrows, and the hair is TOO damn long and scraggely. His body isn't even white, only his face is!! It's complete bullshit! you may like the decisions that any filmaker makes, but I,a real fan, unlike you,do not change MY beliefs and opinions becuz of what some filmaker does. i stay true to the characters, unlike you who could give a damn.

Mark my words,my opinion has remained the same for years. It will not change after seeing the movie. Period. I'm a very grateful person when it comes to comix films, but when I see something i don't like I speak out about it. How else will the filmakers know that something isn't fly unless they get some honest to god opinion? You seem to think that becuz my feedback is negative that I'm just looking for something to pick apart. Not so. if anything,YOU are the one looking for a fight,as YOU can't be respectful of ANYONE's opinions unless they're the same as yours,in essence, you ARE a bigot. You talk as tho i'm the only person in the world who dislikes the afformentioned things about the movie. well think again. Maybe if you tried having some conversations with people at other sites and other people who are fans in general,my opinions and thoughts wouldn't seem so radical. There are people ALL OVER the place who share myviews, but ultimately that doesn't matter becuz there becuz the shit heads at hollywood will make what they want, when they want, regardless of what people say. And simplistic fools like you will just eat it up,convinced that that's the best they could do and you shouldn't have any problems with it. And my and many other fans' fight is only a lost cause for someone who doesn't believe in it. In that case you.

And,honestly,if my jokes weren't THAT funny, then why are so many still laughing about them? You've got a real problem if you do other things with your ass than shit with it. As far as I'm cocerned, right now,I'm through with this whimsical debate with you, there are other sites with other assholes such as yourself for me to contend with. If you've anything to add to your shit laden posts, feel free to do so,after all,I wouldn't want you to lose any sleep over it. Perhaps if you steer clear of your crackhobby for a day or two you might have a clear enough head to comprehend what I'm talking about.

Wow, and here I thought you couldn't get more assanine. I will make this simple, LOGIC -- SAT IT WITH ME, L-O-G-I-C. they dyed human hair green, Joker's hair is green. Acidic dips = scarred tissue. Body armor is heavy and they are just actors. those are just a few examples. yeah i can agree the grey isn't too much to ask, but understandibly they made a decision on the best material for the paticular parameters as needed to make it look less like Adam West Batsy and more like a phesoble character as to translate realisticly. Fantastic 4 costumes were simple, polyester, spandex blend, because it was the fitting idea. they have super-powers. Batman is a regular guy and realisticly, if a real guy tried the shit he did, he would be dead. the suit is design to intimidate as well as act as armor. and last i checked, armor isn't soft and flexible, except kevlar, but again, kevlar isn't that dependible. I have met your kind before - and this is no assumption, it is a fact based on your argument - you piss and moan about the film now, but when it comes out and you see it, you'll back-pedal and try and make believe you supported it from the go. Not to mention your type has an issue with having to have something to bicker about, so had they went with all your ideas, you would still find something to bitch about. And "the best man always wins" your words, you took what i said and twisted it to see what you wanted. It's not a matter about the best man, it is a matter of whomever takes initiative, whoever they see will produce a better product. You are one out of millions, andd to be honest from this post a not so credible one, they don't care what you say. the majority speaks, and they say, they love the ideas. So deal with it. You get on sites and bash people who have excelled in their chosen proffesion and i assume seek some kind of justifacation or addoration from others, but when someone asks, "hey what have you done about it?" all you can do is get overly aggressive and pull an outdated cliche from your hat like, "every little bit helps"? in this paticular instance, no it dosen't, you are waging a smear capaign with the conscensus. It's a lost cause. What's done is done, get over it. so reffering back to LOGIC, if you'd pull your head out of your self-righteous ass and use some, you may realize that you may have been a bit too quick to judge. No, i am no bigot, i am a firm believer in turning the tables, and when i did you got all huffy puffy, resorting to gay/broke jokes. Well my friend, they weren't that funny. and they really didn't offend me, i know that's your desired effect, sorry. But yeah, i gotta go get some rest, i got third shift at my janitor's job tonight and i wanna dust my pink unicorns before i go.

What’s done is done, get over it. so reffering back to LOGIC, if you’d pull your head out of your self-righteous ass and use some, you may realize that you may have been a bit too quick to judge. No, i am no bigot, i am a firm believer in turning the tables, and when i did you got all huffy puffy, resorting to gay/broke jokes. Well my friend, they weren’t that funny. and they really didn’t offend me, i know that’s your desired effect, sorry. But yeah, i gotta go get some rest, i got third shift at my janitor’s job tonight and i wanna dust my pink unicorns before i go.

Ok. Who says I'm not trying to make a difference? Hmm?! This is the first place to start,by voicing an opinion,no matter what douche bags like yourself think. So what if I'm not a producer? I'm entitled to my opinion,as is everyone else. Just cuz I'm not a producer doesn't mean I can't make better decisions than one. So,your saying whoever is in the position of authority and or power makes the best decisions, right? And whoever isn't can't make better decisions. How 'bout this: George Bush is president (and's a real dick incase you hadn't noticed, but then, you probably voted for him),and there are other candidates who are more fit to command than he is,but they're not president,so I guess according to you the best man wins! In fact,by your standards, the best man always wins, right? Have you forgotten that Shumacher won and destroyed Batman a while back, are you going to tell me that you couldn't have made better decisions than him? Or that someone else couldn't have? He was obviously in charge, and other filmakers weren't,so he must have been the right choice to make a Batman movie, right? ASSHOLE! WTF are you thinking?!! The best man doesn't always win, life just isn't like that!! And who the hell are you to say I'm not doin' a damn thing to get things changed?! Huh? I'm doing all I can from the position I'm in,you can't change the world, but every little bit helps. Yeah, the batsuit in the comix has armor, but its also FLEXIBLE,ya know, easy to move in!! The movie suits are nothing like that!! All the movie suits are COMPLETE SHIT. And if you had a damned brain in your head you might realize that. They're plastic crap, and they have NO DARK GRAY area on them at ALL! Go to IESB.net and read the "Iron Man takes on the Dark Knight" panel from full frontal nerdity. IM tells Batman EXACTLY what WB needs to hear about their shitty Batman costumes. Look,trud-ass,I only mentioned the F4 movie suits cuz they were an example of FLEXIBILITY. Say it with me,F-L-E-X-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y. Get it? Good. I didn't try to defend the movie, the cast,or anything else,I brought up the suits as an example of FLEXIBILITY. Dumbass. Oh,yeah, asshole,if you're still reading, the Joker's woredrobe is FINE,I have NO PROBLEM with it,it's the CRAPPY job the WB and CO did on his damn face!! Big-ass cutmarks across his mouth and scars runnin' throughout his face, which looks more piss yellow than white, and his damned 80s era Michael jackson style stragley hair,he looks like a cross between Marlon Brando,Mrs. Doubtfire and KISS. He looks nothing like the Joker at ALL. And if you think he does, maybe you should stop using the crack you bought at what you thought was a girl scout cookie sale. So it's OK for you to make false assumptions about me,(ie where I live, what I do,my weight, etc) but I can't make any about you, right? You're so bigoted about your damned film franchise you can't stand to hear criticism from a REAL fan. If I'm so "pathetic",then why are you even bothering with me? Doesn't that make you even more pathetic for getting sucked into my world of "patheticness"? You're just an incoherent douche, and are probably just pissed cuz your boyfriend won't be able to come help you dust you pink unicorn collection tonight. Well,I've got to go now. I have a lot to do to help change the world of batman movie suits,I'll see you later when you're finished your night shift janitor job. Jackass....

Wow! It has come to idle threats of "kicking my ass" seriously? You don't even know me, and the fact that you would dare venture to communicate a threat over something of such little consequence is down right pathetic. It's ok to be a geek, I'm one, but to take it to a level of obbsession to which you have tells me that no one should take to heart or mind anything you say as it would seem you are in need of some serious counciling. It's everyone's opinion that they know better than anyone else, it's called pride, but thus far Chris Nolan has made alot of really good choices and I think the box office numbers show that. I too grew up on Batman and as well know the character and in mine and obviously so many others opinions it is a fantastic imagining of the story. these people --WB -- are in the buisness of making profitable movies and that is just what they will do, if they spent their time allowing everyone to input and concerning theirselves with not offending one person or hell even 1000, then no film would get done, they wouldn't turn a profit, in fact suffer a huge loss, and then go bankrupt. Imagine if everyone did that, the Film industry would be extinct. Besides, if you think you can do better, why aren't you a writer/director/producer. If you don't like what you see, change it or at least make an effort. So let's make it simple, you don't know better, if you did, you'd be making the movie, which you aren't, you are on a forum bickering insanely with a rational person, passing down "what if" idle threats, and all around making a fool of yourself. I understand disappointment, really -- Common as John stewart/Green Lantern? But at some point it no longer constitutes disappointment and becomes irrational, unhealthy, obbsession. i noticed your comment about The Craptastic 4 costumes, that movie was the pit of pits of craphole adaptions, it made the Country Bears look like Saving Private Ryan, the acting was bad, the characters were cliche, the costumes were beyond gay. the reason the batsuit isn't like that is simple, the spandex translates badly on screen, and since you are an expert on Batman you should know that batman wears armor in the comics and for you to suspend belief so much as to have a spandex/kevlar/steel mesh fabric that is thinner than a sheet of paper and light as air is a bit too Lonney Tunes. Also, the neck can turn, it is quite clear in some of the earlier photos of the restyled suit which you could have seen in Gamepro, Maxim, Hollywood Magazing, etc.. The Joker's costume was rethought in order to drive the modernized and more psychotic character attributes that Nolan and his team decided to go for. which makes perfect sense and is ultimately the rational option considering the fact that the Joker is in the comics "A PSYCHO". Hense a reimagining, Nolan nor WB ever claimed it to be anything other than that. And yes indeed I got the picture...You, alone in your mother's basement, eyes firmly stapled to a computer monitor all day, eating too much, trying to decide if you wanna play World Of Warcraft or reorganize you comics or repose you "collector's figures"...hitting myspace, searching for singles in your area, and bitterly sulking in the fact that someone out there has taken initiative and created something you couldn't possibly pull off. Please don't make threats on a forum, seriously, it just makes you look like a punk who can stand to dish it out but not take it.

DK cast: GOOD

DK costumes and character appearances: CRAP!

I don't cosider myself the "definative authority" on anything, but I do believe I can make better decisions than WB and critics at times. And a lot of fans share my views and opinions as well,so put that in your pipe and smoke it!

One more thing, trud: DON'T EVER COMPARE ME TO SCHUMACHER! He ruined Batman! I'm a hardcore Batman freak and would've kicked your ass if you would have said that to me in person.

The cast and movie are fine,it's the Joker's appearance and batsuit I have a problem with. I don't cosider myself the final authority on anything, but when it comes to Batman I'm sure I could make better choices than the WB and critics do at times, and there are a lot of fans who share my views,so stick that up your @$$. Don't EVER compare me to Shumacher, the guy who made Batman gay nipples man. I'm a hardcore Batman freak, and had you done that to me in person,I'd have kicked your @$$. Get the picture?!

I have no problem with the casting choices,I used to dislike Heath until I heard his Joker voice. I quite like the storylines as well.

All I'm saying is the batsuit and the Joker look like shit. The Joker looks nothing like the Joker, and it isn't Heath's fault,it's the assholes at WB. The same can be said for the suit,it's not Bale's fault, either.

No,I don't consider myself the definative authority on anything, but yes,I do believe I could make better decisions than the WB,critics, and most filmakers when it comes to Batman. And there are a lot of fans who share my views,so stick that up your ass.

Also: DON'T EVER COMPARE ME TO THE GUY WHO MADE BATMAN GAY NIPPLES MAN,JOEL SHUMACHER! I'm a hardcore Batman freak, and had you done that in person I would've KICKED YOUR ASS! Get the picture?!

Wow... kel, that was quite possibly one of the most futile and all be it PRETENTIOUS rants i have read in a while. Are you so egotistical that you feel you are the definative authority on "The Dark Knight" and all things franchise related. Even more so than the mother company "WARNER BROS.", critics, an award winning team of film makers(including Chris Nolan) and dare I say all these genuinely interested and open minded fans. Your attitude toward the film reminds me of a disgruntled Joel Schumacher. I like that they chose Heath, it is a stretch. Let us not forget, there was quite an upheaval when Christain Bael was first announced to play Batman, and look how well that turned out.

OK. You guys are assholes. You have NO respect for the Batman comix character whatsoever, all you care about are your damned film franchises. Just like the prix in Hollywood.

fanboy d,I think that your idea would work well, material wise. The suit needs to be a more flexible fabric like the Fantastic Four movie suits. It should still obviously be flame, shock, and bullet proof to a degree, like the comix suit. They just gotta get rid of that plastic crap and keep the black and gray look.

i'm still shocked at that people can bitch and moan about a sequel to the best superhero movie ever made, from the same creative team...ah, well - screw 'em!

the batman suit in the nolan pictures just makes sense. i think it would be possible to make it more like the comics and still be plausible in that world though. if the used a similar material to the get-up harry osborn wore in spiderman three, which looked protective whilst still ebing fabric, and had that grey and had a cowl like daredevil. i realise i just named two of the most hated costumes in comic-book moviedom but i'm just saying, if they wanted to they'd find a way.

I can't stand comic purists who think the comic book suit would look good in live action. Sure maybe in a film series that had a less realistic take on the character it would be plausible, but Nolan's universe is more grounded than the comic books hence the armored suit. But go ahead and get back to your crying. I didn't mean to interrupt you.

Heath's Joker better be good, cuz right now he looks like shit. I could do a better Joker. Other than his clothes,he looks nothing like the Joker.

The batsuit STILL looks like shit just like the suits from ALL the other Batman movies. Man,when are they going to make them more flexible and keep the black and gray on the areas of the costume that are black and gray in the comic books? In the JLA movie? Nah,probably not. Cuz each shit-headed director and costume designer could give a damn about what the comix style suit looked like.

Maybe this means that the 'see you in december' website is finally going to go up, and might contain the prologue, or at least parts of it?

Also, go to: http://www.imax.com/ImaxWeb/xtras/?dl=beo/screeningroom/btn1/dk/dk_prologue

It confirms the prologue etc. I don't know whether the featurette has been out for a while, but its still interesting.
