Watch his other movies, he is just not a strong actor. The very first batman ever was square jawed, blue eyes, and had a deep voice. Christian Bale has none of these qualities. Let's face it, this director did get the joker half-way right, maybe with a few more tries he will get batman right as well. I read that as he was practicing for the role, he was very sleep-deprived and had to adjust to a rather uncomfortable schedule in order to make it work. So far it seems that the seemingly dangerous sleeping pills contributed to his unfortunate death.
