I freak out every time I see anything tied to this movie. I have faith in JJ Abrams!
  • Avery
Ok...cool enough. The movie's got us all excited but:"CLOVERFIELD"=stupid title for a monster movie right??Why hire Patrick Tatopoulis to design it??I do agree that I wish it was a Godzilla movie but an all new creature would be very cool too.It just doesn't look too reptilian to me...more like an insect or crustacean.J.J. said that he went to Japan and saw how big the Big G was there and wanted the U.S. to have there own kaiju-well then he'd have to show the monster then right??This thing would have to be cool enough to carry a series of films then huh??Those are some high standards-ofcourse,many will be disappointed but I think he'll pull off a really cool movie either way.
  • I'm still entertaining the notion that Cloverfield is a decoy title, and about 1 week before the film comes out, we'll find out the real one. I just can't believe that Abrams & Co. would have let us know the title the whole time. Or maybe I'm making too big of a deal over this...

The code name in the movie that the military is using to describe the monster attack is "cloverfield". That is why it's called that. Instead of saying "the monster attack" they just use "cloverfield". IT's just a code name, and i personally like it.

why does it allways say after the jump, after everything about cloverfield?

Is it not the clue to "continue reading" the article further from the main page?

I can't see them hiring Patrick Tatopoulis to design a creature and building up all this massive hype ,just to not show us the monster.Whatever it looks like some will still be disappointed and others pleased.I think it may be a crustacean like creature -maybe that "deep sea crab"that was talked about??I'm sure it's gonna be a hybrid/mutant type, since J.J. said it would be nothing that has been seen before.I don't think it's that bat like sketch-because it comes from the sea.Either way ,I can't wait to see it.I'm pretty happy to please-as long as they show me the monster stomping the military,I'll be happy.Bye the way has anyone seen that The Asylum Pictures are making a ripp-off film named:"TOKYO"-to coincide with it??That sounds cool too.
  • Avery
Ooops-:easy to please.Geesh-a blond moment there, guess it happens to the best of us eh:NELSON??I hope DANA's right and they reviel the "reall" name right before it's released.I just couldn't see a sequel entitled "Cloverfield vs.?"I do get that it's a codename though, but would rather have a real name .It just seems that they wouldn't have made such a big deal about it not having a name or tried to confuse us so much over the name with all those other fake titles.Only time will tell huh?

If you visit the Slusho! website you'll find clues to the origins of the monster in the movie. Look in the distribution section and you'll read about how their beverage hasn't been approved by the FDA, the Slusho history section tells about the secret ingredient from deep in the ocean, and in the happy talk section one of the comments says they're about to "burst" like the lady behind the plastic curtain in the trailer. My take is that the ingredient from Japan, deep in the ocean, is parasitic and doing things to people, like the lady in the trailer who looks like she's growing while being hauled off by a hazmat team. She's probably got something growing in her. And I have a feeling the big monster is from wherever they've been harvesting the "secret ingredient" of Slusho!

But that's only my theory, take it or leave it.
  • Avery
I made a comment about pretty much the same theory months ago on YOUTUBE .The only difference is that I connected it with CTHULHU.I'm not an expert on that sort of thing but could the ingredient be made out of that "deep sea crab" in those pics on 1-18-08 in the recipe??Could eating it make you become a CTHULHI??Just a wild/wierd guess.Either way the monster definately has human like hands-you can see on the poster on the back of the Statue Of Liberty and on one of the buildings that it left claw marks.I'm not saying it's still CTHULHU but it does seem a lot like it could be.There are a lot of people saying it can't because it doesn't follow the stories-but since when has Hollywood ever adapted things exactly like their source materials??It would be a cool movie none the less.Either way, I'm there and I'm sure it's gonna make millions and revamp a genre.
  • can't be more excited about this flick... I really hope not to be disappointed as with Godzilla...
  • redjay
Avery, was it you that posted that link to some other game? I think it's www.cluechaser.com? Was it related to Cloverfield? Because the site admin says it's similar to and inspired by Cloverfield. I don't think it's part of this one though.

Ok so everyone has their opinions and guess what the hell is goin on in this film and its time to give mine. Simply put , after watching the trailer hundreds of times in HD of on quicktime pro , You clearly can see the monsters mouth around a building after it shows the military attacking hardcore. If you can pause it at the right time ( tricky) you will see what I am talking about , in detail the mouth totally looks like it is Godzilla , you can see the shape of the mouth and the teeth of the creature and it is totally green in color .... at the start I never would have said this but clearly what I see in the new trailer is the big green guy.

if you go to the tagruato site…it has been changed……the drawings of the four animals have writing in them the crab has “tanner” there is a variety of crab called the tanner crab….the octopus has dumbo….htere is a dumbo octopus…..the fish say ogre…..there is an ogre fish also known as the fang fish…..the jellyfish looks like it has RUKANDU i have no ideas about the significane of those letters….any ideas?

Hey REDJAY I didn't leave anything on any games but I did mention about The Asylum Pictures doing a copycat film named:"TOKYO" for a release to coincide with this movie.I don't know ,but I'm starting to lean towards the conclusion that RIDE came to,although I still haven't seen that pic of it biting the building.I'm torn between Godzilla and CTHULHU.Or maybe it's a new creature like J.J. said that's a combo of several animals like the different ones mentioned in PRNSTRNTRNG's comment????
  • prnstrntrng
    the site is tagruato.jp

Again to everyone who has read my comment and theory , I just wanted to go over it a little bit more clearly. First... i am using an ieee connection to connect my cpu to my 56'' plasma 1080p hdtv , I am also using many programs to controll the gamma and lighting of the trailer and with quicktime pro I can slow down the video itself and pause it at anytime I want. OH and btw Avery I never said it bites a building , I SAID you can see its mouth and teeth coming from AROUND A BUILDING then it moves back behind the building very very very quickly , split second type shit.
  • Avery
Hey RIDE sorry for any confusion there.Does it look like the American Godzilla or the Japanese version????I wish someone could put this pic up for everyone to see :SLASHFILM=hint-hint??
  • MDS
My money is on Cloverfield not being what we think the movie will be. I'm betting it has to do with hysteria, a possible virus (from seabed nectar/Slusho) and utilizing a 'monster' as a cover as to what's really going on in the story line. I've heard on another board that while they are tightlipped about the plot, one person in connection with the film has mentioned it's NOT quite what we're seeing in the trailers.

look at the water where the statue of liberty is

    it can swim.
  • Jericho19
Enough already!!! Another attack on New York, have'nt we seen this crap before. How many times do these jerkoffs in Hollywood think they have to use the Statue of Liberty in their worn out 'movies of destruction'? Has'nt Lady Liberty already been blown up or demolished enough times already? And then to insist on using it in the promo materials - STALE IDEA. It's gotten so cliche' anymore.

    How about some ORIGINALITY!!! Idiots.
  • andrea
I hope this is a brand new monster...not Godzilla..or insect. I agree with Jericho why can't hollywood come up with something new and differant? Maybe it would flop maybe it wouldn't.
  • jdog
i think the movie has something to do with a scientific experiment gone wrong. i based this on the fact that when that girl in the trailor is getting attacked in the tent the creature looks like a giant rat of somesort. this would also make sense if wat MDS says is true that its not quite wat were seeing in the trailors.
