My husband has amblyopia - one eye cannot see very well. He also cannot see 3-D movies. They should release the movies also in non-3D version for these poor people.

I hate 3D movies like Beowulf. But movies in 3D are awesome. I was lucky enough to get to see The Nightmare Before Christmas in Disney Digital 3D. It's new and awesome. 3D glasses arent blue and red anymore, they look like shades! which is so awesome. It looks so real. So now, this may, Disney is releasing the first ever movie in 3D. It's going to be Journey to the Center of the Earth starring Brenden Fraisier. You have to check it out! I know I will.

PLEASE STOP MAKING MOVIES IN 3D!... or actually make them 3-D. I just hate 3-D movies! I'm blind in one eye so I can't watch 3-D, which is really gay cause you need two eyes to do it. Oh well, I can't help it...

[...] One last thing, it seems that just about every new John Waters article I’ve read in the past couple of months he’s managed to bring up Final Destination 3 as one of his favorite films, no matter what he’s writing or being asked about.
First of all; webmaster please fix the right colum ------------------->

Guys & Gals

I have only seen a few in 3d movies in my life. 3d Websites or games sure and often.

What I liked about the movie was the camera angle in the first 10 minutes was just unbelieveable.... Just imagine, the camera is at about 32 degrees move from the left to right... as it does you see
all kinds of things come into view as you are like in the camera lens itself and it is slowly, ever so slowly backing out of a zoomed in area.

The before credits say there are 6 more coming my next summer and they are all different... some are in this animated format and some are as you are in your world.. sounds pretty kewl is all I can say.

Made in the USA by Paramount Studios Hollywood California !

To be honest, I still really want to see Beowulf in 3d. I had the chance to catch the non 3d version this weekend and though I enjoyed it - from Peters comments here about how cool the 3d was on that flick, I am curious enough to pay to see it again in 3d.

I don't think that it is something that will revolutionize the movie industry the way they say it will, and certainly not enough to make as big a push as they are going to be making - however, much the same as shock seats and smello-vision, it's a neat concept and something that is worth one or two movies a year.

@Jeff, The glasses that were at my Imax screening were specifically for Beowulf and are designed to be strain-free. I overheard an older guy ask this at the screening and the Imax employee said he should be fine. Of course, the human eye doesn't experience Beowulf everyday, so you may have the "new contact" feeling when you walk out of the theater, but that harkens back to my second post. But to each his own. But would you rather not have the option to see movies in 3-D? Like rotoscoping, which I like less, I still would like the option and don't grasp why people knock. I like seeing the Tamale falvor of ice cream, even though I';ll only try it once.

@Eddie, sweet man. Yeah, I agree that /Film offers a path to good discourse. Besides the 3-D, Zemeckis has made the defintive midnight movie with Beowulf imo. It's campy and takes the most potshots at oraganized religion of any Pg-13 movie I've seen - very adult material. For istance, Beowulf bangs his daughter in the film, even though it's not directly stated. The crowd was like wtf. Also, something about 3-D and the more compact Imax seats make it a very communal experience, but people don't use their cell devices as much when they're wearing the glasses. Everyone at my showing was 20-30 which surprised me (it was the 9:30 pm showing). In a way it reminded me of seeing Rocky Horror. Hope you like it, but it's def worth admission.

You know, that's when this site truly shines. Every now and then you get a freak on the comment boards who doesn't know how to truly express his/her case intelligently. Thank you for the intelligent post and response. While I still don't think 3D is the new wave I certainly won't knock Beowulf. Zemeckis is a very good storyteller and as a director tries new things (while I love Michael Bay's visual style, it's been done and copied a trillion times before). I will have to check this flick out now and truly find out what Zemeckis has done this time for the cinema experience.

They should come out with 3d contacts.

Meh. I've never cared about 3d. I think it is a neat concept but frankly it DOES cause some strain and you have to keep taking them off and putting them back on - when I am watching a movie I like to sit back and enjoy it. If they want to come up with something "new" they should make more domed theaters, with full panoramic scenes. Now that would be cool.

On a side note - Can they please make Battle angel before 2012 when the world is gonna explode. That would be swell.

Meh. I’ve never cared about 3d. I think it is a neat concept but frankly it DOES cause some strain and you have to keep taking them off and putting them back on - when I am watching a movie I like to sit back and enjoy it. If they want to come up with something “new” they should make more domed theaters, with full panoramic scenes. Now that would be cool.

On a side note - Can they please make Battle angel before 2012 when the world is gonna explode. That would be swell.

As long as 3D cinema means wearing some form of glasses, I don't see a bright future for this.
I went to Beowulf 3D, and while it was a good experience, the 3D stuff felt gimmicky, and only a few scenes stood out effect-wise.
This might be just me, but the glasses added some strain to the eyes, and I simply don't see me watching more full-feature movies like this.

With all due respect Eddie, perhaps you should go view Beowulf at Imax before shooting down an entire new pathway for film. This is not retro 3d, this is highly advanced imagery and much of Beowulf is breaktaking. Beware of coming off like the old man who defended cassettes in wake of the CD.

When I said that it's the best film of the year, to me it is because it provided me with an entirely new awesome experience in a theater - and even though I'll champion NCFOM, Zodiac, TAJJBTCRB, Rescue Dawn, Lars and Real Girl, Juno and many other excellent films in a very strong year for cinema, none of them made me walk out of the theater questioning aesthetic reality like Beowulf.

Many are already calling its wke opening disappointing, but it sold out its 3D screens all wke and it will have longetivity like no other film this year. When someone enters a new realm and experiments there are so many decryers. Zemeckis kicked the ass of the Polar Express and I'm sure Avatar will do the same to Beowulf. But if you like popcorn entertainments as well as your high brows outings, you can't beat the technology.

I know it sounds corny, but I seriously rode a dragon this weekend until I got vertigo, and no, I didn't shoot heroin. If you haven't seen Beowulf, you GOTTA SEE IT. TRUST ME.
