when i saw the movie cloverfield the first thing I thought of was it was taken from H.P Lovecraft ideas of his mythos, not really Cuthula but one of the GREAT OLD ONES!!! that is pretty exciting
considereing there is a whole genra of movies ideas out there that no one has tapped into yet!!
Way to go J.J. Abrams!!!!

Ok I saw the movie it was ok. But the sound effects did sound like Godzilla screeches. Then knocking down buildings yadda yadda. It was nice to see people getting killed buy the monster and all the spawns of cloverfield. Yah but it was a total rip off of GODZILLA there could only be one monster from the sea maybe they should get GODZILLA to kill cloverfield just to show the fake who the bitch really is!!!!!!

at first when i saw the previews for the movie i thought it was godzilla myself (so did my sister), but we were both wrong. VERY WRONG! I don,t exactly know what it is, but thats what made the movie so good because it was such a mystery. Till the end atleast, cause you get a underside view of it. But didn’t get to see it because i closed my eyes. Tee Hee Hee. It was still good though!

I don’t know what you lot are seeing. All I see is smoke and debris. I have no idea where you are getting this “it looks like Godzilla” and various other comments. If you can see what that is, I think it’s more a case of you seeing what you want to see. I’ve seen the film and truthfully, it’s rubbish! Godzilla was a by far better movie. It was done tongue in cheek, not to be taken seriously and it worked. This doesn’t. It’s crap! A giant monster destroying New York?? If it’s that big, why is it so hard to see. Come on people!!!!!!!

I cant honestly say what that thing is but i just saw the movie for the first time and it doesnt give us too much on the monster. so the scene where hud gets killed and it shows the monster right above him, i freeze framed and i thought the monster looked familiar. it sure is heck is not godzilla, or a crab for that matter. I think the monster closely resembles a praying mantis, i cant say for sure but it looks like one, i looked them up on google and made comparisons and i got to say they look extremely alike. Talk about ingenious jj.

first of all the thing looked nothing like Sin from FFX, i’m a big FF fan and I’m sorry to whoever said itlooked like Sin, or sum big giant whale, it looked like neither. The monster was VERY original and creepy and the movie rocked, def one of the best i’ve seen at the theaters in a while. The monster definitely did not come from outer space, it was woken up by that japanese company doing all their underwater drilling. I distinclty heard someone saying it was still alive at the end, but then theres pics on that site that show it being all blown up around the beach *shrug*. But you just gotta think if this is a baby, mama and pops are probably gonna go looking for it and how pissed would they be to find out its dead lol, damn i wonder how freaking big they’d be too. Oh and about a sequel, liek Syfer said it would only be good if it was about the govt. trying to kill the monster and if it gave us some answers as to what it as and where it came from, cause I could really care less about the point of view of other people that were taping the event, i’d still go see it tho lol.

I think it’s like, sorta a cross between a, whale or something, from what I’ve seen in a picture
It also seems to move extremely smoothly, for something that big
All I know is, It’s one monster
The producers did an excellent job on it

But, I know it isn’t Godzilla
From another clip in the movie, it shows the monster having gill like flaps on it’s neck, gesturing to it having been in the ocean from a couple thousand years, like it suggests. It also seems to have small, beady eyes. It’s one rocking creature.

Maybe the monster’s tail was positioned at the perfect point where the tailfin wasn’t visible?I don’t know,all I know is that I’m not accepting the fact that there was a tentacle anywhere in the movie.Although I do agree that the monster needs a name.I’m tired of having to say “the cloverfield monster” every time I talk to someone.

Th only thing that would disprove the multi-monster theory is if the monster was really suppose to be rapidly adapting to life on land.

I know the tentacle thing that look out the bridge was not the monster’s tail; it had no fin (as seen in the “home stretch” scene as they ran to the heli-evac station.

Also,this stuff about there being several monsters that look completely different…that’s scientifically illogical.The satellite hit in one main area,meaning it awakened a group of the same species,rather than a whole bunch of creatures with different body structures.They lived in the same environment,meaning that they had the same environmental adaptations.
