The first video footage from the Jackie Chan/Jet Li collaboration The Forbidden Kingdom in now online.
The Forbidden Kingdom is about a bullied New York teenager (Michael Angarano) who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and classic Kung Fu movies. One day he discovers a legendary warrior’s staff in a Chinatown pawnshop, which transports Jason back to ancient China. He meets kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), and becomes his disciple. He goes on a journey with kung fu master Golden Sparrow (Liu Yifei) and the Silent Monk (Jet Li) to fill an ancient prophecy. II’m drawing comparisons to The Wizard of Oz. The film features sequences by famed fight choreographer Yuen Wo Ping (The Matrix trilogy, Kill Bill). The Forbidden Kingdom is directed by Rob Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little).
Watch the two minute promotional trailer after the jump.
Lionsgate will release The Forbidden Kingdom on April 18, 2008.

sounds like a ‘last action hero’ rip-off…
and another jackie chan dud.
if you feel like watching this movie, rent ‘the medallion’ and ‘last action hero’ and watch them on a loop.
hopefully, the feeling will go away.

Jackie Chan hasn’t done the drunken style since 1994’s Legend of Drunken Master. Prior to that he perform the drunken fist in Drunken Master (1978). Why not see it? I definately dont agree with littlejerry. The Medallion wasn’t an fantasy/epic film and Last action Hero was an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.. what the hell are you smoking? Anyways, its been a while since two famous Martial Arts actors have been seen on screen so, hope everyone enjoys this movie..
cheers..

“another jackie chan dud. ”
I disagree with you littljerry:this movie differs from Jackie Chan’s former movies because the heroe is a Western guy this time and not Jackie himself.
That’s why Jackie try to downplay his role in this movie when interviewed by Asian media.

This appears to be interesting. I’m not sure about the main protagonist though. The kid from Sky High? I dunno.. any true HK aficionado would be much older… the premise seems a little too weak. But, Jack and Jet finally together.. I’ll probably watch it.

So much for an all-Chinese cast…Oh well I’ll still watch just to see Jackie and Jet kicking ass. Another western going to some amazing chinese/asian adventure. Yeah, I’d like to see a movie where an Asian gets excalibur and kills an evil wizard or dragon.

Who is the real star of this movie? Jackie Chan, Jet Li, or white boy? Why can’t they write a better script and leave out the white boy.
