Spider-Man 4 Script

Sony Pictures has hired Zodiac scribe James Vanderbilt to write Spider-Man 4. Thank god Sam Raimi is not writing this one: He’s a great director, but the screenplay for Spider-Man 3 was a mess. Vanderbilt’s scriptology includes The Rundown, Basic and Darkness Falls. James also did a polish on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and wrote the screenplay for the upcoming adaptation of the Vertigo comic book The Losers.

However, I’m not sure if Vanderbilt will be able to start writing anytime soon, with the writers Strike set to begin within hours. The fourth Spider-Man film is set to hit theaters in 2009 (presumably Summer). Sam Raimi has yet to commit to the project, and has recently said that he wants to see how the script turns out first. Industry insiders say that Raimi is waiting on The Hobbit before committing to any big projects. Raimi has said that he will only do the Lord of the Rings prequel if Peter Jackson settles his feud/lawsuit with New Line, and come on board the project as producer.

this is the worst news I’ve ever heard…reimi to direct “the hobbit”???
    WTF??!?!?
he’ll kill the story…no way he can make it as good as LOTR was or even manage a half decsent script or execution (if spiderman 1 and 3 is the ruler by which you judge. 2 was ok and that was just the action…) reimi is a dead duck floating in muddy waters, and no way is he doing “the hobbit” out of love for the mythology…he’ll be there for the grabbing of money, the gready little prick.

Vanderbilt is a good screenwriter, he should be able to churn out something nice…

Wow man really great news but i want all the same actors for spider-man 4

the spider-man movies and MOST of Raimi’s movies are better than almost all of Peter Jackson’s films especially LOTR and the absolute shit Braindead though I really liked Heavenly Creatures

To think that Raimi could interpret an intricate story like The Hobbit based on his jumbled, erradic result of one of the most popular, widely known, and loved comic story arcs (Venom Origin), is just wishful thinking. The crew that wrote the screenplay for Lord of the Rings films worked on it for 10 years. They were constantly changing and making it better because they were such enormous fans (and experts) of the collected works of Tolkien. That’s what made LOTR movies so great. Almost all the aspects and ideas that were changed from writing the book to screenplay form, either helped the story along or made it better. It was the screenplay writers’ love of the LOTR books, and their intrcate knowledge of them, that allowed them to be able to interpret succesfully those incredibly complex tales to screen. You cannot just have anyone come in and write a screenplay for something that is as popluar and well known as “The Hobbit”.
