i am a huge fan of the first three films, and once again i am thrown down in disapointment by a sequel gone wrong. why cant producers just end something when its good? the plot was unrealistic, it was barely gorey, every single character is somehow intertwined because an ordinary man developed into a genous after trying to kill himself? it doesnt make sense. there was alot of useless plot, and loose ends simple burned together to rid the viewers of them. jeff? so sorry you had to die, guess it doesnt matter where your daughter is huh? and jigsaws wife? so sorry you had to spend hours being interviewed and in turn had nothing to do with it.

its movies like this that make me smile when i hear the writers are on strike.

its about time we get some new ones.

okay so i see where this review is coming from but from my opinion(even though i dont mean very many would disagree), is that the SAW movies are not some of the most innovative and most original films of our time, but ARE the most innovative and most original films of our time, and almost that alone does it for me for these movies, but they have not been glamorized like a lot of the other horror movies that have been dragged out way to long like " The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" which by the way the 2003 remake was way underated, and also it isnt very poorly being supported by crappy actors. These are very smart movies and pretty much have the whole package, Good acting, Good Writing, and pretty much all around good ideas. So as far as im concerned this movie was pretty good.

*contains spoilers* do not read if you haven't seen.

I just saw IV last night and i must say as much as i was entertained i was confused as well. so many questions remained as the credits rolled. How did detective Hoffman become jigsaws apprentice? Did everything happen in succession? If you noticed at the end of the film agent strahm was in the room where III ended...Jigsaws body was still in the room. Which led me to ask...how did they get his body to the autopsy room? I'm so baffled! If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it. back to my initial review. Overall I really enjoyed it. The storyline continued to keep me entertained while the death contraptions got progressively more gruesome as the film went on. Can't wait for the dvd.

ohh I loved this movie... The history is brilliant and envolving.. Can't wait to Saw 5 and 6 to comes out...
Saw 4 is one of the most creepy movies I saw this year, but even the most horrible movies has some funny moments... I saw this movie where Scott Patterson and Tobin Bell talk about some funny moments they had while shooting horrific scenes.

It wasn't a dumb review, it just got quick to the point. Anyone notice, he said it was a great movie? Yah, I saw it too, and it was like the other ones. It was good... but only as good as SAW allows. Yes, the New Kid on The Block needed more meat to his role....And he did say it was a gorefest!! I agree with Z about the freddy Krueger thing, remember 4, 5, and 6? Same formula!!

I wish Donnie Walhberg had a bigger part in SAW 4. He was a great character and all i remember him saying in this movie was "Fuck You" - Typical Eric Matthews Style.

Overall, the film surprised me. I went in expecting very little and walked out contempt and pleased with what was produced. Saw is a series that builds upon itself.

Shame you decided to half ass your review in such a manner. Was there any thought put into it at all?

I saw it yesterday. It is what it is, in a world of lackluster sequels this thing is as good as Nightmare on Elm Street 4 or Friday the 13th 4 or any other fourth film in the horror series across the board.

Horror fans have forgotten that without the 80's continual sequel after sequel pace, there would be no horror to look back on.

Saw 4 is not made for the oscars or academy, it's blood and guts and it is appreciated by the fans of that...tired or not...it's still working well and I am glad to have seen it.

This review was a little dubious for my tastes, specifically the 3rd paragraph. Does anyone know where Saw 4 ranks amongst the 4's of cinema? The slate link is ridiculously snarky and only reaffirms that Saw is the closest thing to a grindhouse movie this decade. Also, I highly doubt that it's the same audience going to see each of these films - it seems to be losing members and gaining them with DVD. It's a commendable accomplishment box office-wise. Two cents: I'd much rather see Saw continue than the truly redundant Bourne series. Maybe if Saw was suped up with new Audis and scenic shots of European vistas critics like the guy at Slate would suck it down. Ever noticed how repetitive the Bourne series is? Look at the box art. Then look at the plots - so much computer monitor fretting, so many cell phone calls, then Bourne kills someone with an unorthodox object like a book or a magazine, then he steals a vehicle or a motorcycle. Drivel.
