Child’s Play Remake

Child's PlayAny who had a MyBuddy when they were a child, was terrified of the Chucky films (Yes, even though at times the animatronics were rather lame). But I think even most Horror fans lost interest in the series before The Seed of Chucky was even conceived.

My friend Alex at FirstShowing was at the Martian Child junket where producer David Kirschner revealed that they are working on a all-out remake of the first Chucky movie, Child’s Play. The film has not yet been given the greenlight, in fact, it’s just being written now (by Child’s Play screenwriter Don Mancini), but Kirschner promised that it would definitely be “more terrifying” than the previous films. No director is attached.

If this Child’s Play remake does get off the ground, it will be interesting to see if they use anamatronic puppets or a computer generated Chucky. My suggestion is that they use a mix, using the CG mostly for the action sequences. The Chucky movies kind of became a parody of themselves, and I’m not sure if anyone from the new generation actually takes them seriously. So I’m curious to see how people may react to a more horror/thriller orientated remake. But the real question is: should they even be making a remake at all? Rob Zombie’s Halloween was bashed by most fans and newcomers because while it did add some back-story to the Michael Myers character, it also took away from his mysteriousness.

"The Chucky movies kind of became a parody of themselves" haha that's pretty good Peter. (not being sarcastic). If they do get a greenlight for this, CGI could make or break the movie IMO. If it was not-so-good CGI that alone could send the film downhill. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I have a feeling that this will be made, though.

i am absolutely sick of remakes

Brad Dourif starred in the original as Charles Lee Ray, the criminal whose soul would inhabit the chucky doll. He proceeded to voice Chucky for that movie and all four of the released sequels.
I will be interested to see if they include him in their "reboot"

it is rumoured on IMDB that Brad Dourif will be the voice of Chucky if the film is remade.

If they wanna start remakes the chucky movies starting with Child's Play on down that's fine. But after U get past the third remake don't turn it into a horror/comedy, that took the seriousness away, and mabye this time around bring Tiffany into the series a lil' earlier like in the Child's Play 2 instead of waiting for the fourth movie.

will brad douriff play the voice of chucky?
  • KiTTy
Brad Douriff better be involved if they do this.. he's got the ladies-into-cultish-serial-killer audience, and where would the box office be without us, er, them?
  • cody
omg!! that is so retarded they should make just the remakes of bride and seed the other three are classics

    hi!!!
i just want to say that if they going to release a remake of child's play,
they should to consider Brad Dourif for the role of chucky again.
No one else can do it like Brad.
By the way, i'm a super chucky fan, so, congratulations to all the fans of this great character!!!

whats up with childs play the remake is it going to be like halloween remake? or the teaxs chain saw masscare begging

some one talk im bord here?

I really don't see the need to remake Child's Play. They should make a Child's Play Part IV (ignoring the other sorry excuses of a chucky movie) And continue the story after the events of Part III. But, apparently it is going to be a remake. They shouldn't use CGI, I do not enjoy CGI in movies. Whatever, I'll still check it out.

this is what had to happen, a 'revenge of chucky' could be scary as well after applying child's play part 1 to a new generation, they could even make a brand new part 2 or just a 'revenge', either way I'm extremely excited about the news. but it better be scary. I can still get scared at night thinking about chucky and I'm in my 20's ( :

why in the hell would they make of remake.I keep reading Revenge of chucky-undetermine or undecided. Childs Play remake due n 2009. this is a mistake. The 6th film should be Revenge of chucky, it makes since. How can u make remake of the 1st part when n da seed of chucky, chucky's hand came alive! thus ends that. How do u put a remake of child's play behind that , makes no sense.
Please follow up on the sequel

and then in seed, he has a son who ends up killing him in the end

i say bring back the chucky that i saw when i was 5
the one that made me through out all my sisters dolls and sleep with my parents until i was 7 because that's how much it scared the shit out of me!
    i want that fear again
BRING BACK CHILDS PLAY AND ANDY BARKLY!!
and don't make it a horror comedy
cuz that what gay as fuck
  • Please don't get me right or wrong but I do think that this brand new chucky remake should and most definitely stand out on its own than any of the other rest of some or most horror movies nowadays. I was so terrified to even watch chucky back in the olden days till it wasn't until Bride of Chucky was just about the only one that really caught my own attention so far - the rest is pretty creative but totally reduntant all the same.
  • Colm McParland
I guess everybody's entitled to their own opinion whenever it comes to the likes of remakes. Havent seen Halloween of 2007 and i dont know if I should anyway. I'm much more interested on this brand new chucky remake of 2010 and I'd say that this will get off the ground a whole lot better than the last one to date of 1988. The Chucky movies were at the time quite scary but also quite silly and stupid all the same. Bride of Chucky is the only one that still stands in front of any of the rest included. Don't fuck with the chuck!

hmmm...a child's play remake...eh, i dont think it would be half bad. hey, you know what they say, right? "The original is always better". Who knows? I wonder who's gonna play Andy Barclay, Det. Mike Norris, and Karen Barclay. I still want Brad Dourif to still voice Chucky. He's awesome.
