The movie was awesome. Though the creatures did not seem to interested in humans until they started panicing and screaming like scared fools bringing attention to there bacon flavored selves. If thay would have wised up they could have hid in the dark and everybody survive, but i guess that would make for a boring movie.

For those of you who think the movie was "given away" by the trailer, you couldn't be more wrong. Dont shoot the movie down if you havent read the book. This has been my favorite King story, next to the Dark Tower (King also confirmed that this too will soon be a feature film) and it kept me hooked from the first chapter all the way to the end. The scene with the two soldiers explaining what happened was added for the movie. King never explained what really caused the mist or the monsters to enter our world. My suggestion to anyone that sees this trailer is to read the book first. You just might enjoy the movie a little more if you do. I know I will love it just because I couldnt stop thinking about it for weeks after I finished it. Now I actually get to SEE it in live action. :D I cant contain my excitement.

I am a terrific Stephen King fan, who never ceases to be disappointed at the screen adaptations of his horror. I always thought that was because King was such a visual story-teller. This movie, based on the 2 tailers, seems to be the closest adaptations I have ever seen. In previous movies, they cut out whole characters, whole subplots, in the interest of time. Anyone remember Pet Sematary? Whole people were missing... I hope that isn't the case here, since its a novella, I have my fingers crossed. This has ALWAYS been my favorite of all of his stories, I pictured many details many times in my mind, and this seems to look just like I imagined it would...

I can't believe they gave the whole movie away. There's no way I would see this movie now. I'm much more into horror not sci-fi. I wish I hadn't seen the trailer.

I read the story a few times while I was a S.K. fan, long ago, and enjoyed it immensly. Even translated it to hebrew (I'm from Israel} just for the fun of it. King loves an open ending on a lot of his short stories, and I loved 99% of those endings just because most of the time, that's just life..you don't always get to avenge your loved ones of rid the world of horror, and more than anything, you sometimes lose the good fight yourself, as a lot of King's characters usually do. A lot of film goers, especially western film goers, love a good solid ending, be it good (we LOVE those) or bad. King loves pulling carpets out from under his readers, and Darabont has kept true to his favorite writer throughout his film adaptations. In "Shawshank", he did actually change the ending for a more moral one as to the ending of the warden and the head prison guard, but "mist" dosen't really leave any room for that, in the book.
I am excited just to SEE some of the cretures that were designed for the film, as I was imagining them since I was 14, and hope that the trashy way King sometimes deals with some of his characters is left out of the film,or at least covered by some good acting.
Looking forward for a same release date here in Israel.
cheers.

Way better than the first trailer, that's for sure. That disappointed me quite a bit. But yes... why the shots of the soldier? Why? Definitely ruining the mystery. I thought it was going to be unexplained and we'd get teased with little bits of info. Well, guess not. I guess he dies too. Thanks, whoever made the trailer, thanks a lot.

Also, I haven't read the novella, but it sounds like the same plot to Half Life. Opening a door to another dimension and these monsters come out.

I said it before, this film looks good. However, a crappy ending will ruin the whole thing.

From this trailer, it looks like Darabont followed King's novella closely (a good thing, in case you're wondering).

The early reviewer's comments about Darabont leaving some questions or subplots unresolved also comes from the novella.

Believe it or not, but the trailer left me more psyched than I was before (and I'm a big fan of that particular novella).

the black screen/quick flashes were done long before 1-18-08.

i think it looks pretty good. some of the lines sound like super-cheese, but maybe it's just because it's out of context.

and i found the special effects to look pretty gruesome. i can't stand the way the trailer revealed what the creatures are, though. kind of ruins any of the mystery involved there.
