How many of us are old enough to remember how Grease was the fun movie of 1977 and just about everyone went to see it. Scoff all you like, but I have a feeling Mama Mia! will be another Grease . . . fun with great music.

Gotta go with Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight." Pretty tough to beat the cast and direction in that film. This ain't no Joel Schumacher Batman. The new series is infused with more realism, which tends to make a lot of sense considering that Batman is just a man without any superpowers. "Batman Begins" really started a following in 2005 and I'd look for that to continue and expand considerably with the introduction of the Joker. The film supposedly centers on him and will also show the origins of Two-Face. I can't wait. The only other film which comes close to "The Dark Knight" on my anticipation scale is "Watchmen." But I don't believe that will hit the big screen until '09. "Wanted" from director Timur Bekmambetov, based on Mark Millar's risque' graphic novel of the same title, is a close third.

Can't anyone do a list correctly? Go in reverse order to get people to read the entire list and build enthusiasm. Even Letterman's top ten list starts from #10 first.

My most anticipated films?

-The Golden Compass - I'm a big fan of books and I'm interested in seeing how the film version handles the anti-religious slant. There's a prospect of protest from religious groups on this...Which if the production team has the guts to go full-steam ahead with, will give the movie more publicity.

Plus, New Line seems to be following the Lord of the Rings formula...Get an indie director with a sketchy past and one legit hit, who's a fan to helm the whole epic franchise.

Let's see, if lightening can strike twice.

-The Dark Knight - Hands down, the best comic-book film in recent years and possibly ever, has a sequel coming with an interesting and horrific-looking take on the Joker. I'm there.

-The Mist - It's not on the list..But this Stephen King novella inspired The Fog and video game Silent Hill...I just worry about whether the premise will seem fresh after all it's imitators.

-I Am Legend - Can Will Smith finally shake, Will Smith-isms enough to make this film as cool as it has potential to be?
It's the same tendency that ruined Tom Cruise's action bankability, forget the personal stuff...He never was able to drop Tom Cruise enough to the betterment of his (Mission Impossible, especially) films.

-Iron Man- It would be higher, but for the lackluster trailer...But this one seems most on point with comicbook, and perfect casting for Stark.

-The Watchmen - Another one not on the list, but I worry about the relative unknowns cast so far.

That title for the new Indy film, leaves me with a sense of Phantom Menace foreboding...WTF?! at The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? It sounds like a bargain bin, RPG game.

As for the other puzzling choices on the list...It's ONLY 2,000 people in (more than likely) middle-America. These are the trend-followers, not the taste-makers.

So, I don't see this as an accurate gauge of what will be popular.
