Released theatrically in 2007, Day Night Day Night earned Writer/Director Julia Loktev several awards, including:
– Prix Regards Jeune, Cannes Film Festival.
– FIPRESCI Prize, Chicago International Film Festival
– Someone to Watch Award Nominee, Independent Spirit Awards
– Feature Film Award, Montréal Festival of New Cinema
– Maverick Award, Woodstock Film Festival

Evoking intense emotion, Loktev strips the story down to its existential core and focuses on microscopic movements, the smallest gestures, an economy of banal details. Special feature on the DVD includes commentary by Loktev.

A 19-year-old girl (Luisa Williams) prepares to become a suicide bomber in Times Square. She speaks with no accent; it’s impossible to pinpoint her ethnicity.  It is not known who she represents or what she believes in, but she believes in her mission absolutely.  Inspired by an actual event in Loktev’s native Russia, Day Night Day Night chronicles the young girl’s journey over two days and nights to carry out her suicide mission.
