McG Terminator 4

A new script has been turned in last week and The Halcyon Company are trying to fast track Terminator 4 into production.

CHUD reports that action director McG is in talks to direct the film, which really excites me. I think McG’s Charlies Angels is one of the best fun just purely to be fun action movies in recent years. His efforts since have been varied (Full Throttle was overboard and We Are Marshall was, well, I don’t remember). It could be said that McG probably needs a good producer to reign him in at some points.

But is McG’s style vs. substance method the right way to go for this film? I’m not sure. On the other hand, McG ensures an interesting effort (good or bad), unlike many of the hack directors who could be hired for the project.

You’ve got to be kidding me. This will be nothing short of calamitous; tantamount to replacing Burton with Schumacher. Cameron’s legacy survived Mostow, it cannot survive this.

The man is a complete and total hack of the lowest order. Yes, he’s even more awful than Ratner, and that speaks f—ing volumes.

Some video directors become David Fincher, some do not.

I don’t mind him doing this kind of movie. The third Terminator was very immature and fun but still had a good story to it. So why not ?

As long as it keeps him busy enough so that he doesn’t touch that McQueen project !

Omg. :/ Charlie’s Angels was an abomination; this spells doom for one of my favorite franchises. :|

    Doom for the franchise?
No, T3 already did that, if the Chronicles of Sarah Conner doesn’t .

No, Mindless explosions, and plots, that people with ADD can enjoy is right up McG’s Alley.

I really hope he doesn’t get the job. That will be a total disaster.
Terminator 3 was actually a surprise because it was watchable, I have a feeling this next one will be a total flop.

If Vin Diesel plays in T4 as expecte, the movie should be great.

Vin Diesel indeed would be an excellent choice.

Most importantly, should KEEP IT AN R-RATED FRANCHISDE. This is critical and crucial. Though, the franchise have been bought out by an unexperienced brand spanking new studio, The Halcyon Company, run by two unexperienced brand spanking new 30-something mavericks, along with the unexperienced bland McG “I’m trying to be the next James Cameron” directing, and a distributor no where in sight, I’m afraid they may end up playing it safe…and succumb to PG-13 peer pressure. I guarantee, by doing so, they’re going to terminate the franchise for good.

There are plenty PG-13 franchises, James Bonds, The Bourne Series, tons of DC, Marvels superheroes….etc. This franchise has the potential. So few have been successful only because they only made a few. Die-hards 1,2,3 worked, yet the 4th at PG-13 failed and lost the respect of everyone, including the big bad Bruno, himself. Pitch Black had the potential but got riddickulous on the 2nd attempt. That’s because again, it went PG-13. Vinny D, who also executive produced the 2nd one, wanted it R, as did the writer/director David Twohy but got the no by the studios. Well, “The End” to that.

R-rated Sci-Fi has been sorely lacking of the late. We only had the Matrix Trilogy, T1,2,3; and Blade Runner before that….so right there, there’s a wide open spot in those age demographics to fill those seats. I think people are hungry for the “next” Matrix. The Terminator series have every reason to seize that opportunity and go for the gold at the B.O. with the 17+ crowds.
